1. Was this mine? I can't remember all the basses I've owned these days. if so it's a cracking bass and even better at that price.
2.
Also - Sandberg Electra VS4
Up vote! looks ace cause it's design isn't just another carbon copy and the quality is excellent
3. Lots of cool suggestions in here. I nearly got my hands on a modulus body which would have been ace but they want an extortionate amount for a piece of wood. I know what I want in terms of specs, just can't seem to find a body shape and accompanying pickguard I like. 34" 20+ frets jazz/slimish profile ideally ebony finger board (was going get a warmoth one, just prefer the overall sound and darker look) preferably weigh not a lot. Single P pickup (will swap whatever is there for a Dimarzio model p unless I Falk in love with whats already in there) passive I don't mind the P body shape but as soon as I see one in the flesh it puts me off, sort of like when you meet someone from Tinder in real life. Did think about looking at getting a custom body made up but don't want to pay a small fortune and wait forever.
4. Hate the looks (until I see one in someone else's hands) Dislike the feel. Just about the only thing I do like is the sound from the single pickup. I would pickup a Mark Hoppus bass but I already have a jazz looking bass.
5. Yes again. Times are hard enough and they are being exacerbated at home by work stresses so for the time being my ACG is up for sale. 6. As above really. I like the sound I'd get out of one but aside from that everything else I'm either indifferent on or dislike. Overall design I deslike and I'd rather have a jazz like neck. The only thing that comes close to a simple P that I like the look of is the Modulus persuasion and since I dont have £3K stashed away that's not going to happen. What else is out there?
7. Would you consider any trades?
8.
Man, that's some bad luck. Is there actually any UK made kit? Sony dwzb30gb. Thomann. Solid. http://www.thomann.de/gb/sony_dwz_b30gb_guitar_set.htm
Had this, the sender bit died and they sent me a whole new one free of charge. Brilliant bit of kit and the after sales was ace.
9. I've used a single super compact for over a year now. Best one cab solution out there.
10. Brought loads of necks. They can't really be lighter in any real terms. Warmoth - I have an unfinished ebony boarded jazz neck. the second best aftermarket neck I've touched, no need for any finish it's smooth as silk and so easy to play, finished excellently. Against the cost this is the best option. All parts neck - I had a rosewood bound and block neck from them. I hated it and it cost more than the warmoth neck. Sounded fine but it just wasn't finished to the same standard as the warmoth neck. Fender necks - says on the tin really decent enough for the price, finished reasonably well, IMO a bit over priced. MM aftermarket necks - for the price these are excellen, had an all maple one on a jazz and it was excellent. Nice and smooth frets weren't rough, and for the price nothing can really beat it. Status neck - brilliant amazing, my favourite neck. Weighs the same as any other neck though. Excellent quality sounds the dogs danglies and has the most consistent sound over the fingerboard. Worth it if you can afford it, but they are expensive. Perceived neck weight will come from headstock choice, a shorter headstock will be a little lightwe and help counter neck dive. The rest of the weight will be down to your choice of tuners.
11. All my 'tone' comes from 2 preamp pedals
12. Mark's tone is still a bit lacking in anything for me though, especially against the Dude Ranch and Enema days.
13. From what was said between songs at the show they played the other night Matt Skiba looks like he will be with blink for the foreseeable at least. Very positive step for them as a mature band that at least wants to make music. I was surprised they played some songs that weren't classic singles though like reckless abandon. As much as I know 'Blink 182' did secure a deal for funds to produce another album which hasn't been mentioned to not be happening yet. If Skiba was to play guitar and sing on a new record it'll be the first Blink record I'd be excited for for over a decade.
14. Probably lots has been said but my 2 pence worth. Turn the low/bass down on the guitar amps and the PA. Absolutely no need for them to be boosting it especially if the cabs are large 4x12 things. still with my setup I have a lot of high mids and I boost the bass a tad to help the small can fill the room a little. The PA I'll usually cut to 0 anything lower than 100hz, no neEd to push it to its limits by having loads of bass and wondering why you can't hear any definition. Also I reangle the cabs so the bloody guitar is facing at the player so they can hear how loud and cutting it is. Usually the highs disperse well enough for you to hear it mixed with your bass cabs sound to still hear it. If they say they can't hear it then they aren't listening properly.
15. Hard to say exactly but surely when the similarity becomes so glaringly obvious it's hard to suggest it's a coincidence. By definition it is not hard to write 'new' music. Vsauce on YouTube has an interesting video on the finite-Ness of music. there is a finite number of possible melodies but we have only used a very small percentage as we like what we like and we want to hear the same thing over and over again.
16. Easy indication of market value is checking sold items on eBay
17. Dunlop gator 2mm from me. Anything thinner lacks everything you get from beating the crap out of your bass with a fat pick. Clank city
18.
That's a shame Bottle - have a fun family do!
Will you be sporting that funky hat this time?
19. So this is a full tone bass drive clone?
20.
I think xotic may have done themselves out of a few sales by calling the BB a preamp - I use mine as an o/d, as do most from what I read on forums... agree though, amazing pedal
I don't know, I've brought 3 and have a clone. very useable as a preamp. I use mine going into a suncoast 'cascaded' to push into gnarly snarl. Looking for a BB MB preamp to go before it though to get another push during big sections of songs.
