  1. So.e will say one way of the other but I have done BEAD on a few basses. Some I filed the nut to make room for the string. Other I let the string file the nut away over time. The only real difference is that a properly filed nut will seat the the string a little better and catch less when tuning up or down as the coils won't catch on the bridge as they pass over in. Other than that I made no other changes, apart from the usual tweaks you have to do when restringing. I did have one B string never intonate correctly as the bridge saddle couldn't go far back enough.

  3. Having a bit of a crisis in wanting the sealed tone back behind me and having a vertical stack of 2x210s is appealing to me. I ain't got much experience of Hartke gear and have used Markbass exclusively for best part of a decade now. Loved my classic 104, but wrecked the house moving it in and out. I also used two traveller 102p vertically for a bit too. Now I just have a 1x15 but thinking I want something sealed again and noticed these Hartke cabs were. From what I can the HD and HL are the same but the HL is more expensive cause they weigh less... And also looks like no one stocks them at a decent price so I guess finding used ones is out of the question. But my question really is, has anyone used the Hydrive Stuff or the HL stuff at all for rehearsals and gigs. And used in particular the setup I'm looking at or at least one 210. Another factor for me is I can get around 40 percent of Fender kit so been tempted by the 210 rumble but feel that would be an definite step backwards in tonal quality.
  4. Felt the need to commebt on this as they did a some capacitor changes in my LittleMark 3 a few years ago. Was maybe 30 quid... Power stage blew. Got in touch, sent it them, got a quote from a nice chao I er the phone the day they signed for it. Paid it straight away and got it back the start of the next week. They also don't have a monopoly, maybe you haven't tried Google??? Sent a Genz Benz head to fender UK for repair as they dealt with supply/warranty repairs. Needed the same job doing, but took them 6 months, charged me over half the cost of the amp and they just swapped the whole power module PCB out. This is of course my own experience, and only two examples of lots of work I've had done from lots of providers and lots of different amps. Maybe I should stop breaking them...

  6. One sold so I'm left with the pristine cab. Would trade for a 2x10 ideally the traveller 210 at 4ohms. £300 - 1x Markbass Club 151. ONO Fantastic cab, svery loud and big sounding and have never had it out the house for anything only light home use. Prefer collection or meet up, I regularly travel to Northampton for work, from Derby, and willing to meet within a reasonable distance. Will listen to trades but need at least one cab that's got some grunt. Will trade my little mark 3 head for an Eden style head that can do 4 ohm split or 2ohm

  8. The hartke hydrive HD 210 is a nice option. And being sealed will give you the similar tone that ampeg gives. Unless you have the ported version, I'm not too hot on ampeg cab models. You can also go super cheap and lightweight and get the ampeg 210av, or 2, ive gigged that stack with a markbas head. Just have to be aware of the speaker possibly farting out with all that power. Another nice option is the MarkBass traveller 210 at 4 ohms which I found to be very very loud! And at 12.7kgs is silly light. The fender 210 is a good can but there are lighter and smaller options out there.
  9. I'm interested in the traveler 210 can if you'd split?
  10. 200 hundred pounds. The test itself I don't particularly trust, would want to hear to believe it, but doesn't sound as natural as when they tested the barefaced guitar cab on a nother channel. Plus it's 200 quid for a stinky poo of *plastic*. Not easy to transport along with your other gear either I suppose. And more often than not smaller cabs I don't have an issue with treble and middle around the room but it's getting the lows to fill the room.
  11. Sounds to me like you'd be better off with a higher powered version of the MarkBass style of amp. I'd say I feel like mine has a "round" sound and I just use the Poweramp side, straight into the effect return. In regards to the fender rumble amp. I haven't used that head but used some of the others bits of gear. And I must say it is very good gear, for the price point it comes in at, but it's quiet clearly gear at a price point. The cabs more than the amps though I will say.

  13. Ditto. It's definitely gotten better compared to older versions on the B3 for example, but sounds closer to a warmer and more bass friendly Tube screamer. I'll try and get a comparison sometime but right now my board is in bits while I build a bigger one.
  14. So from memory, bass octave, NYC bass muff, room reverb, fender bassman amp SIM and a compressor. And yeah the octaver is used for those big chorus bits! Never really liked digital multis either and I wouldn't use it without my preamp after it either. However I am so surprised with how good a lot of the sounds are even just flicking through the pedals and with out moving any settings they sound nice and pleasing.
  15. To cut a long story short, I wanted another drive didn't find much sense in spending £100 or north for something I already had (BB preamp) or something I hated for whatever reason. Tried lots of gear other love and ended up sending them back. So I heard about the Zoom B3n, I was sceptical as I'd used previous zoom gear and didn't think they were any good. Looked online and thought damn these drive sounds are pretty wicked. So went a head and thought screw it, for £130 I'd at least maybe get some drive sounds I like along with being able to try some other stuff out. Totally blown me away this thing. Excuse my dog playing.
  16. Would prefer to sell together at this stage so I can replace the whole lot in one go.
  17. Used ones tend to go for between 90 and 100 pounds. I love mine and had one on my board for over 7 years now.
  18. I'm basically after another BB and while they rarely come up I've seen a few RC preamps and have no idea how they sound compared and find it hard using YouTube to try and compare. Anyone had both and care to share thoughts?
  19. Need to hear it on bass to form an opinion myself. Sounds nice on that guitar though.
