1. I never saw Most of this thread till now, it took me all day to type my reply out in between work and playing shadow of mordor. What a load of moaning old nit pickers.
2. Question is would you sell on the retro 210? As I'd buy it. Personally I liked the TC RH750, sounds great great features etc etc however going beyond loud and into gig volumes with a band it lost much of what it was good at. And I never liked it wi any barefaced cab I tried. The compact I liked however like you seemed to not get much note definition beyond sitting right in front of it, particularly when it got loud at rehearsals.. I would vote you try the Super Compact as mines been nothing short of amazing in every situation. Dispersion is a lot better, and it feels hell a lot louder than the Compact ever was. Lots more punch. Using 500 watts into it has been plenty and I've been able to out do the kick drum sometimes. I want another but purely for aesthetics. Been interested in these retro cabs since they were mentioned a while back, I like the old school grainy tone and size and weight are always appealing, but I'd be worried about using one solo at anything beyond monitoring for myself.
3.
nah, compressors don't do any of those things...it's a terrible crutch that is never advisable. Now the sound engineer may use a limiter to good effect on the mains or a mix engineer will use compression after the fact on a recorded track and that won't affect your playing. Using a compressor in your signal chain that you hear while playing will take much (if not all, depending on the settings) of the control out of your hands and put it in the electronics; hence the "crutch". If you can play proficiently (and that should always be a goal) you will never want, much less need, a compressor in your signal chain. My advice to all my students is to develop control over your instrument so that electronic 'aides' will not be necessary. Best of luck to you! :-)
That's some backwards dark ages opinion you got there brother. You are entitled to it, but you might find that majority will disagree with you here. I do agree that one should develop technique however you seem to be neglecting the hundreds upon thousands of players in pub bands that might not have a tech savvy engineer and PA at every job, or even record a CD. And if the they do and the audience hears a nice compressed signal why are we the players not entitled to hear that sound? If you think you've lost control by using a compressor then you've used one wrong. I tell all my students, as long as you play comfortably and you like the end result it doesn't matter what goes on from point A(your hands) to point B (your ears)
4.
I was thinking about this the other day. Wasn't it priced at same as an Ad200, or even more? Decent sounding amp from the clips but hard to see how they could justify the price.
Yes can't remember the price exactly but was well over a grand. Sounded killer from YouTube vids, but weight and price seems to have stopped it coming out altogether I think.
5. Did they ever release? Were they discontinued? Did Orange realise it as a bit wrong for the market? I did read on the Orange forums the advertised weight as wrong, and was roughly half what it was printed as. Can't seem to find it on he website, and everything I googled wasn't much younger than the old BC thread on it.
6. I'm not clued up on the tech stuff but the 500 will be plenty with the cabbage you use. 500 and 800 will both make the cabs go as loud as they can go, the 500 might feel it runs out of juice sooner though, but you won't need to push it that hard anyway. 800's power amp isn't as good as the 500 though. The 500 on burst goes above that and it's continuous is just under 500. The 800's burst I don't remember but it's continuous is around 650 watts. Personally the 500 would be good for me, but if you can afford the extra 50 why not get the 800?
7. Eden WTX 550. Horrible sound, no oomph, one of those class D heads that give others a bad name. SVT3 pro. Lacking in power, can move the EQ but doesn't make much difference. Orange Terror bass. Fantastic volume, core sound is like listening to thunder through foam ear plugs. I'm sure I can think of a few more but those are stand out for me.
8.
Here's a recent acquisition, a very rare USA Lakland 55-76... possibly the Holy Grail for a Stingray 5 fan who wants 19mm string spacing... that'll be me then! Custom scratch plate added by Martin at The Gallery. Plays like a dream, sounds phenomenal, light as a feather, but still balances beautifully.
Was there ever a 4 string version?
9. Been through some a liked them. Then my iPad crashed, so I'll be back and do the rest later
10.
I recently asked Alex if was possible to go the other way - from metal to cloth - and was told it couldn't be done. I have now sold my S12.
Thought so, I do believe they have construct the fronts different for different mounting methods.
11. Add facebook.com/CutTheHeroicsOfficial to the list. Cut the Heroics https://www.facebook...yBadgers?ref=hl We have a CD out and if you want to purchase it you can do through bandcamp. I would suggest adding this to the OP too just so it's there in the first page, and save people trying to find it. 12. I don't know if yours is second hand, or what generation. Obviously if it's new, you should be able to swap but I don't know how the cloth is attached on the new Gen3 models and on older models there was extra glueing needed to mount fixing positions for the cloth versions. Anyway. Should it be a second hand model, it shouldn't be too difficult to get a grill. Alex might reply and be able to supply you one for your model, assuming the new grills fit your super 12 (dimensions on the newer ones might be different) Or you could buy the similar chicken wire type they had on older models, cut to size and screw it on.
13. as above will list: Warmoth Graffiti Yellow Jazz Bass Body : £150 1 small chip on the lower bout, great condition, excellent colour. Originally was just a Single P rout but had a J bridge rout dug out professionally. It's also drilled for through body stringing, with ferrules. However after I installed the diff neck it was off centre slightly, so screwed in a new bridge in a slightly different place. Is not visible with the a bridge in either place. Comes with American Fender American string through vintage style bridge(BBOT solid enough) Dimarzio Model P/J set : £60 some one has dibs on the P right now, so I will sell the model J at £25 including postage. My favourite pickups, in black, adjustable poles. Some of the excess wire has been cut off but still plenty to spare, never been soldered though so clean as a whistle. I did lose a set of black screws for the P but I will send some silver ones I have. I also have some black ones but they are a little larger, and didn't want to faff but they will go with them too. Hipshot Aluminium B style fender fit(5 hole): £50 Amazing quality bridge, in chrome with 5 screws. Barely tell it's been on a bass, brand new from the states. All parts have barely been used, all brought around start of November, bass was finished around Mid December. Played one gig with it, that's it. Reason for sale. I have some personal issues ATM so to keep my mind off stuff I've been buying parts and building stuff together, and no sooner had this finished I got instaGAS for fiesta red 62 reissue style jazz bass, and I've already brought the parts and now money is tight. I have yet to take pictures as light is always against me these winter days, however I will take some and email them to interested parties. I don't want to go down any further on prices these are all ready discount bin prices. Prices include Postage.
14. I've found similar as above. Pretty much quality parts, assembled well. Tuners leave a little more to be desired but again depends if you are really bothered about them being a little loose/stiff/jittery which is nothing typical of some other basses or a more weighted background. Neck pockets are nice and tight, although the neck finish for me is what let them down. However considering the price I would much rather invest in a Squier, more bang for buck. In all good instruments, but I'd spend my money else where unless I really wanted a modern player or one of those semi hollows.
15. Dimarzio Model Js. The neck pickup gets closer to the P bass tone, still not as fat but captures the essence well. Excellent ceramic pickups, the adjustable pole pieces really help in getting even tone and volume.
16. Our band page, regularly see's 'views' in the hundreds, and can increase with shares from member's personal page however I doubt many of those actually 'see' it. Also since they introduced a review system for posts, for people to say they don't like content that looks like adds/spam/etc, views on posts with links are in the toilet. So I do see it as a big of a chore these days, we get more people at shows by talking to them personally. Our page has just become a booking platform. However I would guest hat 5 percent of our audience interact and come to our shows because of band page, but the key is obviously interacting, not even goes through facebook liking any old crap as it shows up on their page and they don't necessarily want it on there.
17.
How heavy is it compared to a wooden one?
Status suggest on their website that tthe ones they make are roughly the same weight as a maple neck. These might be different though.
18.
How about making it a sliding pickup, a la Gibson Grabber?
Up vote. I've been a pickup placement convert for a while. Makes a far bigger difference than just changing pickups.
19. Ou7shineds Pingray. The MM pickup is in the sweet spot and P has the DG coil on the neck side of the pickup IIRC
20. I drew some up in Corel draw and just printed on clear adhesive paper. If you get board you can rip them off easy and apply new ones, and leave little to no marks of you want to sell arts on. Very easy and quick. I knocked a few up with in an hour(different fonts for front decal).
21. Schallers sold. Fender ones I've found the corresponding buttons but I'm not sure any screws I have will be the right ones.
22. Accumalated a load over the past few years. 2x Schaller, chrome with button and screws. £7 the pair posted SOLD 2x Fender branded schaller style. buttons but I'm not sure I have the right screws £7 the pair posted 2x Dunlop p, chrome, no buttons. £5 the pair posted. That's it, will get pictures if necessary but they look just like the pictures, not seen much use as they were put on once and taken off once.
23. Bass body? I'd like to see this on a fretboard with the glow parts the markers?
