  1. I can't deny I am tempted by the 5 string black sparkle number! RRP will be the deciding factor here
  2. The Stingray-a-like is so close....but yeah they just got caught a bit short there. Maybe it won't look as bad in real life? 😅
  3. I'd tend to agree. If buying from a smaller business (guitar or otherwise) where you might be buying from their open stock then you would hope QC issues would be checked. Buying from warehouse stock you then rely on the manufacturer vs the retailer to do the QC checks. We are absolutely spoilt by the choice and ease of buying we have - but it is always good to get good customer service if things go a bit sideways. Biggest thing is communication, which Andertons seem to have done well this week - next week could be different 😅
  4. Oooft that looks really good, again, for the price. Just a nice combo of design and finish vs other options in the market. Hope it's not a case of this being a small batch being sold at a discount whilst I work out what to sell to get one in the house 😅
  5. I've played the Reverend range a fair few times in Merchant City Music. I reckon if I was in a band I would easily have one as they rock solid and super easy to play and use. I'll stick with my more budget instruments for now, but if the opportunity comes to spend that £800ish on bass they'll be first in line!
  6. P basses are generally the single middle pickups. Most straightforward basses around! P J basses have a split middle pickup and single pickup closer to the bridge. Gives you bit more versatility and a few more tonal options, still easy enough to handle though! Something like this one would be a great place to start! https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pj_74ow_vintage.htm
  7. Dipping your toe in the world of guitar/bass is so accessible these days. Harley Benton are the best bang for your buck, and they have a bass in nearly all shapes and tastes.
  8. I get that speaking to someone or actually buying a product will end up at the same point - but that's a crap excuse. I worked in a jeweller and we had price changes all the time that we had to get through to avoid these very situation happening. Or customers complaining the advertised price is different from sale price etc. It's part of the job to maintain and monitor your stock, saying you don't have time isn't good service.
  9. Really odd business practice.... Wonder how they would counter this if asked?
  10. From working in retail recently with a web presence, it sounds like a left hand not talking to right hand situation. Price change online - not correctly relayed to store or Price changed online - someone in store should have changed tag and didn't. When they went to put it through the till the online price probably would have popped up on the till. As other have said, if you flagged this then they would sort it. If you bought it then checked online think you would be due a refund of the difference. EDIT: Just checked PMT - could it have accidentally been priced as a BBP34?
  11. @AJ567Yes it seems so, did a quick search after my post and they don't seem to exist. Weird that there's not an AliExpress equivalent yet either!
  12. No harm in a new set of strings. I doubt they are a mix of flats and rounds. Do they feel different or roughly the same? With a new set at least you know what you are working with and you can keep the older strings for spares!
  13. A Hohner Jack could be had for roughly that depending on condition/seller.
  14. I kind of understand the question and the want. I think the answer is in your original post. Buy a Sub or a Sterling, change the decal and find a proper USA style bridge. Jobs a good 'un. Next option would be to go to AliExpress and find one but there's is absolutely no guarantee on quality going that route.
  15. A metal(aluminium?) neck Sandberg. Their custom shop seems to be doing a lot of cool work these days. Wonder what that would set you back!
  16. Japan seems to have a glut of basically whatever you want. Cameras, watches, basses. All there 😅
  17. Might be worth a quick look in this thread - Sandberg have a pretty solid reputation: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/324680-sandberg-appreciation-society/#comment-3521495
  18. Loved it when I saw it on the BassBros site, still do. Best of luck with moving this on - sure it won't take long with the amount of BB fans around!
  19. If you're not a man who likes to solder and tinker - then take it to a tech and see if they can find a fault. Another option could be this : https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/sire-heritage-3-bass-eq-pre-amp-3-band/ and get the whole preamp replaced
  20. I saw that last night. I genuinely don't play enough to justify the 3 basses I currently have - but that is a very good price. Happy to collect if someone else wants it though!
  21. On the note of Carey Nordstrand - just saw on Instagram that the Acinonyx 5 string is in development. Cool to see the range expanding
  22. I think this of nearly every second hand ACG - but surely you won't find a better bass for the money this is going for! It's mad when you see other ACGs going for around the £1000 mark considering what the big players are selling their premium ranges for these days.
  23. Well it's showing as out of stock.... But who knows what that really means on Bass Direct. Could still be being made or could never have existed at all!
