  1. I've now convinced myself that I need to get a burgundy bass with a tort scratchplate 😅
  2. This is purely hypothetical as my current situation means I can't afford don't need any form of new bass but it's a question that I've pondered a fair few times. If I were to get a bass made for me, do I go 4 or 5? I play both and appreciate they both have their uses and advantages. I view 4 string as the instrument where I can do more technical tricks like slapping etc but 5s for me cover a lot of bases and I do like having the 5th string. So really, I'm asking what people in a similar situation did when commissiong their first big expensive toy and why they chose 4 or 5?
  3. If I were a richer man this would be mine! Best of luck.
  4. That's really cool! Must be super compact
  5. So the time has come to sell my amp - I've toyed with this for a long time but I am not going to be in a band and I mostly play in headphones so this is up for sale. If you know about Phil Jones, you know the quality you're getting. Whilst this is a slightly older model this is basically new, all 4 speakers have been replaced and haven't been used for anything louder than indoor use since they were replaced. Also comes with a cover Here are the official specs: • 2 channel 300 W amp (180W into internal speakers) • 4 x high power 5” drivers in computer designed 8Ω enclosure Each input features; • Active/Passive input • 5 band eq (50Hz/160Hz/630Hz, 2.5kHz/12kHz) • Optical compressor/limiter (switchable/adjustable) • Headphone out • Balanced line out XLR DIi) • Effects return • Extension speaker out (taking the output to 300 W with extra 8Ω cab w/speakon) •Dimensions; 16.5 H x 13.5 W x 17.5 D •Weight - 49lb/23kgs I am happy to ship it but it being 23kg it won't be cheap, happy to get you a quote though. Also happy to meet up to arrange collection. Any questions let me know!
  6. Now, if you just wrap it in a nice fireproof blanket and let me know when and where you plan to perform this funeral, I'll be glad to watch it to make sure it all goes to plan😅
  7. The Pros look great but the new standard in the trans blue has really caught my eye
  8. Wee Dino on my BB. Hidden by my arm when playing but adds a splash of colour to it!
  9. I primarily practice through headphones and just recorded myself for the first time in a long time.....Yikes.

Very sloppy - need to tighten the technique up!

  10. Granted that does seem narrow but isn't the bass super lightweight?
  11. Dead quick, are the tuners on a Mex Fender better or on par with Wilkinsons? Are either lighter/heavier? There's a set of Fender ones on Facebook for the same price as Wilkinson ones so just trying to make a decision. For reference, it's for a Bronco project.
  12. Jeez you are fair shifting through gear just now! 😅 But then you end up with this, very nice indeed!
  13. Yeah seems like they skimped on having that as an option. Could probably be done fairly easily if the wires are all there.
  14. That would be about right looking at the price bracket of the other Tribute models. Unfortunately I fear it will be £599 as a lot of brands now do that for new releases....but to be fair it would be right up against the short scale Stingray.
  15. So I'm toying with replacing my BB425 with a jazz bass style 5 string. Basically it was going to be the Sire in burgundy - until I found this. I know that Revelation are well respected at the budget end but a quick search didn't bring much for this model. So anyone seen or tried this? Looks mint.
  16. Seems the music instrument market is a bit of a racket just now. Korg, Roland and GAK all fined with others apparently on strong warnings.... Might be a good time to ask for a discount 😅 https://guitar.com/news/korg-roland-and-gak-fined-5-5m-for-price-fixing-by-uk-watchdog/?fbclid=IwAR3ivWtDwiPYBuEB0DRpLPvDUDZ4vCtCWT9aM89ivTIgrzC4yVwwpmu-4gc
  17. Oh of course, but they have one of the few configurators where I don't spit my tea out when I'm finished speccing up my build.
  18. Here's a question, obviously going to get a slightly biased response but are Sandberg one of the most approachable guitar companies? I might not be asking quite the right question but they seem to be one of the few companies that you could buy on a shop wall or ask them to make you something very similar to what you tried in a shop for very similar money.
  19. And here's me swooning over the burgundy Sire/Bass Collection.... And I'm in Scotland..... But alas, Covid prevents it. Super cool bass otherwise.
  20. Pretty solid customer service response there.
  21. Already another thread to avoid cross posting!
  22. And there's me thinking, I'm happy with my 4 string basses just now. Oh how naïve 😅 EDIT: A very solid colour selection which is nice to see!
  23. Anyone know of any shops in Scotland that stock Sire? I know I could easily buy online and return if it doesn't work out but would like to try before I buy (in the future of course)

I am not 100% sure but it looks like Andertons  have got the UK pretty much sewn up, although there might be one or two other U.K. stockists.  Good luck with your search.

Yup, from what I can see your choice is pretty much Andertons, Thomann, or secondhand.

Thought it might be the case. Just looked and there's 262 Sire bass variations! That's mad!

  24. While the headstock is debatable, don't see much wrong with that. No one else around the £1000 is offering it so....😅
