I definitely think a Sandberg is on my shopping list. Would love a soft aged VM 😁
-
Fair enough, to each their own 😁
-
Or go tort?

Nice, in those photos it looks similar in colour to the Betsy. Reckon I would go for the Sire over the Betsy purely on the reputation alone.

Nudge, there's a 1024 for sale....
-
I actually like that. I imagine over time it will become less bling as you wear through to the red underneath.
-
Thanks for that @Mudpup I'm coming round to pink/purple basses so one of these could be on the list. Could you rock the Sire without a pickguard, as in is the routing round the neck pickup neat enough to get away with it?

Seems a very solid review of this bass. Would like to see it next to the Sire in the similar colour and just to see how it stacks up. Always good to have choice around the £500 mark

Not quite LPB but this is blue with maple and blocks https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Overwater-Contemporary-Jazz-Bass-Guitar-Manufactured-By-Tanglewood/184326489881?hash=item2aeab70719:g:070AAOSwCdRe48FG

Glad you're happier with your bass now. But rather than it being a VT VT vs VVT issue, could it have been a capacitor issue in the VT VT and the KioGon loom just had capacitors which suit your sound more? Just a thought 😊

Yeah signature model was the wrong term, custom one off is more accurate!
-
So...the Miki signature model is basically the same as the newest Flea signature model but in the BB Shape. Interesting.

Alternative to Fender J Bass body style?
BassApprentice replied to barrycreed's topic in Bass Guitars
Ah, the bass I have owned twice and sold twice....stupidly. Bloody great fun and as always, Yamaha quality. Might have to try and hunt one down. -
Not mine but just spotted this on Bass Direct From Dave from Chas 'n' Dave https://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Fender_American_Vintage_58_Precision_Bass_Roasted_Ash.html?fbclid=IwAR1kvwiWoHjFyfaKNSVGNA_HDKZ5i_d_N5jAb1c_7otxR7qYngMQqIGwnJg

I appreciate it is fixable but returns also give useful feedback for manufacturers on new products. I would hope it doesn't happen to others but at least if Ibanez are aware that it has happened they might be able to address it on the production line.

Oh wow. Since it wasn't/can't be hung you can't account it to the weight there. Remember when GAK said something about the QC of these basses....

For sale is my Zoom B1Xon multi effects. Only selling as its been replaced by a B3. Excellent condition and only ever been used in the house. Great for mucking about with and useful as a headphone practice amp. Also got the box somewhere and I'll throw in a USB lead and power adapter. Say £5 for postage if you aren't nearby.

The Ibby Talman short scale appreciation society.
BassApprentice replied to Maude's topic in Bass Guitars
I've never played one either but I trust that if luthiers like ACG and others offer short scale 5s, it must work. Could be down to strings and tension, heard good things about Newton who will do custom balanced gauges and will probably be happy to answer queries about short scale B strings. -
Just bought a red Squier Bronco as a project and going to paint it Shell Pink. Would love to relic it similar to this. Not quite to this degree but I don't want to do a poor job and make it look odd. Decisions, decisions....

Funny how they didn't try and get one after he did his Jazz Bass, and then went on to make a jazz bass with a stingray/lane poor pickup. Must just not be part of the business model just now 🤷♂️
-
Yes, that is weird....surely just get rid of the control plate

Now as we know, there are hunners of Musicman signature guitar models - but the bass side has always been pretty limited for signature models. There was the Joe Dart one last year and now this Mike Herrera (punk rock singer/bassist for MxPx - no, me neither) https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2020/06/10/ernie-ball-music-man-unveils-mike-herrera-stingray-bass/ So what do we think about Ernie Ball coming round to bass signature models? Couldn't care less? Will be cool to see what features they are willing to do for artists as the basses themselves are pretty widely used. Tim Commerford would be cool....

Thanks for the advice. I've repainted bodies before but always stripped it back. Probably won't bother this time! I'll be painting the wee Bronco (not the Musicmaster) Shell pink so I'll just key up the red and go at it!
