2. Aha! At least we have something to talk about over tomorrows curry
3.
I really liked the solo version of "message in a bottle" played by the bloke with a Wal...awesome!
Dave Marks on a Sei?
4. Been very impressed with Bare Knuckle. http://www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/p...p;series=j_bass
5. Just read this thread through. Jeez, the guff quotient is high in this thread...
6. Tell me about it. A great source of annoyance. I've experienced a similar thing with replacing a pot on an Ernie Ball volume pedal.
7. Sorry to hear your problems with the Rumour... but take heart that once it's all fixed up, you still have a bargain - that Rumour would come it at over 3k new. As you say, just a bit of a bummer that it requires so tweaking. You've had a Rumour before right - so you know how they can play. As a matter of course, I'd get it back to Bernie for a once over. These basses are set up to the player so it may need some adjustment to get it to play right for you. Not a lot of people can play my basses because they are too low and rattle too much. For me, with a light touch, they play perfectly. Combined with the fact you don't know what people have done with their basses once they have left Brighton, it may be overdue a magic touch. From what you describe, its sounds like the strings are too low in the nut for you. I'm sure Bernie will build the nut back up for you and certainly a pot replacement is not an issue. In fact, given the age of that that Rumour, I think Bernie has changed to since changed to better pots (smoother running, electronically and mechanically more reliable) so it may be worth getting it serviced just for that.
8. Nickel? Afterall, it's what the frets (most anyway) are made from?
9. First Bass Owned: Jim Cairnes 4 'Go To' Bass: GB Rumour 'Your' Bass: GB Spitfire
10.
Incoming Rumour day!
Nice one. Pics and the norm later right?
11. Sounds nasty. Good luck getting it sorted dude. Makes you realise why all the amp techs love the point to point valve stuff... at least you stand a chance of figuring out what is going on!
12.
OK so this might seem a little over the top but since I will have some left over I may as well use it Is Real Gold Leaf a good way of shielding the cavities of the electrics? I was going to use tin foil glued to the walls rather than splash out on a bottle of shielding paint that costs about the same as a pack of gold leaf!! I cant see why not. A
I have never tried it, but I would hazard a guess that it would not be thick enough to provide a good shield. Shielding paint takes a good few layers to build up a decent shield (and it's still not as good as copper) and whilst copper adhesive makes for good shielding, remember that copper is a superb conductor compared to gold lead and tin foil.
13. Ah... so somebody bidding on the Spitfire now!?
14.
Ooooh, nice, I take it that one didnt make it to ebay! Tony
It did! I got it off eBay - he used the money from the sale of that one to fund the Spitfire above. I seem to recall that there are single coils in the Spitfire as he liked them in the red Rumour. I changed the single coils in the red Rumour back to humbuckers as that is what I prefer.
15.
Did you buy the sunburst Rumour? Tony
No, this one - Top bloke - no problems buying off him.
16. Looks like he is having a clearout. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GB-Guitars-Bernie-Go...6#ht_510wt_1139 Odd - I bought a Rumour 4 string off him too. But not the one at the top of this thread!
17. More footage of Graham Gouldman with his original Goodfellow.
18.
Shouldn't jokes about testicles be in the "Bad jokes" thread?
You can never joke about balls. Unless they aren't yours...
19.
Yes. And are there strap locks, or any other form of bondage equipment?
You like ball gag?
20.
Is there a Bad Arse on it?
On which bass, the Mayonnaise? or the OPs?
21.
Does that mayonnaise have a weak cheese string? I have heard some of them do and can only be fixed by fitting a warped sue Ryder neck with a broken truss rod to even it all out. There's only one way the value of these basses will go and it will be a while before the rest ketchup.
No - the bolt on necks suffer from this, not the faux bolt-on through necks like mine.
22. Hello, here is Mayonnaise. Sorry, don't know how to use YouTube so picture all squishy. You get idea though. Notice headstock is "light" equipped but not Hipshot ultralites - it helps prevent the neck dive.
23.
Wont trade?? I hav latest iphone in Slovinia
You're a bit screwed if you want a # or a *
