1. Nice. It's a looker alright.
 2. I last heard he had been down the Gallery and ordered a new S(l)ei.
 3. Aims for 2011 - To get my jazz bass project finished. To pick up my new GB Spitfire Then decide on a fretless 5...
 4.
Guitards
Harmonica players. They seem to change instrument every bloody song
 5.
Due to the fantastic weather that we've been having I thought that I'd have to wait till after Christmas for my shuker jazz. I've just got off the phone to my local delivery depo and even though they won't be delivering it too me they said I could collect it. As soon as work is over I'll be on my way to collect my new baby. Can't wait
Good news. Remember to bring it up to temperature slowly before opening the case!
 6.
I was also. Sat next to the blubbing mother. Pft. Cool gig mind
I was at the perching at the bar at the back with Matt - bass player for Sunday Girl. If anybody saw us, he's the good looking one, I'm the ugly one! There was a young girl who had obviously had a "pass out" from the parents and had taken advantage of the bar. She was in a bad way. The audience for Ellie was a lot, lot younger than I thought it would be. Lots of teenie boppers around.
 7.
I'd love one, but i've a feeling my OCD would get the better of me and i've had to keep polishing it between songs!
If you're a slapper, be prepared for a scratched up not so much mirror finish...!
 8. It all seems to make sense... yet seem so pointless at the same time. Umm... can't get past the looks but it may be a good instrument to be on for those mammoth practice sessions. Having said that, you really should be playing on the instrument you are used to playing... So yeah... not for me.
 9.
You're all thinking the same things as me and as for manufacturers 'guesstimates' which from personal experience can be as much as a lb or two either way; my Lakland Skyline JO was a classic case. Now if we can find someone who actually owns one...
I'll keep 'em peeled.
 10.
I definitely prefer 4 string basses. If you need to lower than E, use a sub-octave pedal
See what I mean?
 11. Tempted... http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ray_Status.html
 12. Feck. Well, I did a sterling effort in missing all this. Would have had the lot
 13.
Indeed. A quick look on the Warwick website (why didn't I think of that before? ) claims that the bubinga and maple versions are both 4.3 kg (4-string). That's about 9½ lb... but of course there'll be big variations around that average weight.
Quite weighty for a hollowbody... but not unmanageable by any means. That's if the claimed weight is accurate.
 14.
Bootsy Collins has got one hasn't he? Ask him if you can borrow it. Truckstop
I suspect you are thinking of this - OP is thinking of this - I think...?
 15.
IIRC, it's got a solid "sustain block" or somesuch right through the centre (a bit like a neck-through with hollow wings). I'd be interested to find out how much it weighs... and the weight difference between the bubinga and maple versions. Of course, that extra weight in the body might help counteract the neck-dive from the short top horn.
Even with a sustain block, the air (as opposed to wood) in the wings is going to do wonders in keeping the weight down. Maple isn't particularly light either!
 16.
Looks like a boat anchor...!
No more that a Gibbo 335... or a KingBass...
 17.
Just wondered if anyone has one and looking for thoughts, opinions and info... anybody know how they balance?
Never tried one but looking at the specs of the neck - Ovangkol and Bubinga, that's some pretty heavy wood to be using on a neck for a bass. Even though the top horn position is in traditionally the wrong place, the fact that it's hollow body and consequently going to be a lot, lot lighter than a slab body, I'd say there is a good chance it will. The well known Bubinga solid bodies from Warwick can be very heavy - but on those, as you'll well know, have the top horn floating around the 12th fret so it will balance. Whether the bass will sit where you want it whilst on a strap is a different question.
 18.
Dan The scheme is being changed - as of April/May 2011 the scheme will only be available for 16 - 26 year olds. So you old gits need to get a shake on if you want to use it! Mark
The ageist so and sos!
 19.
Had a chat with Bernie this afternoon. A few delay's took place due to the temperature in the spray shop not being suitable for the poly laquer... this has now been sorted, and after a 2nd trip to the spray shop to get the finish exactly as we discussed, the bass is back with Bernie and having the final assembly done as we speak... Bass should be with me as soon as the temperature deems it suitable to be in the back of a couriers van, OR I can find a way to get down to Brighton (If anyone fancies a road trip, let me know!!!). I've been promised a pic later or tomorrow so watch this space
It must be a nightmare at the moment. His newly installed "jet engine" heater is helping out but even so, it can't be ideal! That workshop is f-f-f-f-f-f-freezin....
 20.
Nothing beats Bergs for me. And I spent a lot of time and money realising that.
Isn't that the truth?! The Bergs must be the most stable part of the setup that Birdy's ever had.
 21.
Fair enough, each to their own... You do play an Ashdown though.... j/k!
One word. Fire.

 23. I've learnt one thing from this thread. I couldn't work in retail.
 24.
Can we start a petition to get Mark King's right arm amputated? Failing that just his thumb would do! Should i run away before the nuthuggers start crying?
Seriously, is there any need for that?
 25. There you go - exactly my point. For people to put down a fellow player, and a player that can probably play better than the majority of people who comment on here, is pretty dire. The fact that the guy can play to such a standard despite a pretty obvious disability, is nothing short of fantastic. All power to the guy in the OP. Bravo!
