Perhaps he should spend the next week doing this as part of his practice… assuming he does.

Theres more to it than that. Granted, there will be mimes - but when you get to larger productions, where there is a hell of a lot of effort put into polishing the audio, click is vital for things like time based effects (e.g. delays). Theres simply too much going on for sound engineers to be tapping tempos or trying to get players to control their onstage effects to be in sync to an ever changing tempo. Solution = click, and midi timecode. Lets not also forget, for large scale events, you'll need a click for automations on the light show. Cues is no biggie - why wouldn't you prerecord the cues if you are running to a pre-arranged show? It's making the MDs life a bit easier on the talk back mic. I know Rick Beato talked about changing up shows - all possible if you mark your loop zones in the arrangements. Like everything, it's all in the prep. And thats why the best stadium shows are complete mammoth works of art.

Can you not choose lighter woods and get as much as it chambered as possible?

Stereo or mono? And it sounds like you will need a split if running with a house desk. Figure out who absolutely can't be wired. For example, keys and drums could safely be wired feeds. Wireless you are opening yourself up to a load of chaos unless you absolutely know what you are doing. The UL1000 for example, you'll only be able to run 3-4 of those in stereo legally. If it does the focus mode (where you can get two mono feeds out of one transmitter and one receiver) - you'll get 6-8. I wouldn't be touching a Ch70 system for that size of band unless you can bail out onto wired. Also, I would hazard a guess the UL1000 isn't going to have the best compander - so probably not going to sound that great. (Not that I've tried one... but I certainly know the trend... and theres a reason why EW300s and PSM900s cost what they do).

be careful who you choose to endorse…

What do you want customised? The size, or the finish? Or both?

Isn't that called a jazz gig?

I remember this one being born - such a beautiful top! Love it.

First up - have you read the opening posts. You need to get your head around how this stuff works first. Happy to help, but your question at the moment is not at all what you want to be doing as your EQing to hear yourself better is a) going to make your bass not sound how it should to the audience b) is effectively just turning up the volume and defeating the point of what your ear plugs are meant to be doing! If you are not wanting to plug into anything and have a standalone solution (e.g. volume controllable ear plugs), I refer you to this section in the opening post - If you haven't got a desk or aux available to you, you can try using the above with a field recorder (e.g. a Zoom recorder - others are available). See section 3.4.

Talkback mic/MD mic/God mic Switch is usually a A B switch to 2 channels on the desk, (1 to front of house, 2nd to aux feeds only) or a MIDI switch which effectively kills foh but being pre fader allows the signal to still pass to the auxes. 2 channels is nice as it allows you to have 2 different levels for when the MD is singing vs louder for instruction.

Quick Q, did you read the opening posts? There’s some key concepts you seem to be missing.
-
Jeesh. Arguing over a 5er on big ticket items.

Interesting first post! Welcome by the way.

Top job!

Those knobs are very cool! - but agreed, not for this bass.

Hopefully you'll get a better result next time around the loop. re: open jaw would suggest a bite block - make sure you have a bite block though - don't sit there just holding your mouth open. Oh... and expect droooooool.

It was more a behave directed to them - not yourself. To be honest, I had no end of bad experience, particularly around their Live system - and whilst the fit was always OK, when I switched to acrylic, I realised that the whole sales pitch of silicon and it's advantages was a bit of a myth (oh and by the way silicon shrinks over time). I remember have my first triple monitors (at the time, the top of the range) from them and thinking - is this what people rave over? Very disappointing - no headroom and very farty with a harsh top end. Of course, others peoples opinions may vary - and this was with their old drivers. Funnily enough, when I got my impressions done at Banbury, I asked them directly about bite blocks - "oh, we don't bother with them" - I still sat there with two fingers in my mouth, to imitate a one inch bite block as best as I could - and also not engaging in any conversation with the person taking the impression despite them speaking - as it pretty clear that moving whilst having an ear impression isn't going to work out well.
