you're asking us how much your wood is worth ?
Indeed. And we haven't even seen it yet.
It has no cracks or shakes. On further inspection its actually two pieces glued (very well) together approximately 50/50 lengthways. I'll get to work on some pics.
Is it already bookmatched?
I've already got my Mark King amp! It even has his signature on it...albeit just a reproduction! That is, of course, because I have a very nice Ashdown MK500 combo. The only amp that could make me go back to Ashdown, it's superb! But Mark never used the ABM stuff, I suspect this will just have been signed as part of his duties endorsing Ashdown. It's cool that he signed it, but it won't add any real value when you look at the used gear market now. When so many awesome items are sitting without a buyer, I doubt many will pay extra for Mark's signature.
I'd pay an extra tenner for an amp with his signature on above the price I'd pay for a non autographed model. That makes a total of a tenner then.

I had the Trace Compressor for many years. Its was OK but for me, its not in the same league as the Multicomp that you mention, or the JoeMeek FloorQ compressor - which is really something quite special. Whatever you choose to do, I hope that you get your compressor issues resolved promptly!
I agree,she's getting a bit freaky looking,but she is a fantastic musician.
Yup, gone a bit too far with the old surgery me thinks. But hey, if it makes her happy... Mind you, the Imagination Library that she has set up is testament to what a great character she is. With gestures like that, she can have as much surgery as she wants... it's all paid for afterall. And as she is well known for saying, "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap". At least she hasn't lost her sense of humour. Anyway, you only got to look at all the great songs she has written to see what a talent she is. OK, it may not be my preferred style of music but she certainly is a master of penning a good country song. She even made Cat Steven's Peace Train have balls. -
Well who amoungst us is in a position to criticise someone who plays 8 (I think) instruments and has written some of the best selling songs ever (e.g. "I will always love you").
Indeed, I was schooled on Dolly Parton in my dad's car on the way to school every morning. -

Not all down to the speaker size, more down to the cab design...
You playing out tomorrow then dude?
Don't know yet. Depends how the computer surgery goes. By the way, check this (if it is what I think it is) acapella track... To have a band of musicians who are masters at their instruments and who can sing like that is ridiculous. -
For me the best thing about the amp is that it can achieve an old school grit sound at a useable volume level (ie not pissing off soundperson). I have amps that are much 'louder', but none that have the same tone. It truly 'whumps' in my view!
Have you been introduced to Ashdown?
I don't get it - I personally find the TC has too much punch and whump if anything - what I am missing is the glassy top end. Lots of low frequency bark, not enough top end bite. Great for low mid and low end grunt. Are you sure you didn't have a duff one?
Yes! A lack of bite. I ran the treble full out in a test I was doing - that should have taken my head off in quite a nasty manner. Nowhere near... and the bottom end, just muffle. Depends what you definition of whump is. If its a ball of mush, then yes, it whumps. If your definition is that you can feel the bass jumping out of the speaker trying to pin you against the wall (OK, I exagerate), then no, it certainly doesn't whump. Nowhere near.

I know what you mean. My experience with it was very similar, in that it made a "noise" and you could really attack the bass and the amp would respond - but not in half as spectacular a fashion as I would have hoped for. It didn't have the attack that I am used to - and that's not a tube emulation thing. It's a lack of body as WOT describes. I even thought it was the cabs - I've never been convinced that they are big enough for the drivers in them - changed the cabs, no difference. Still lacking in something. It doesn't have the top end I like either - just the muffley bottom end, which I don't really dig. The last time I had that kind of experience was with Line 6. It kind of (and I mean "kind of") sounds OK on a recording, but live, well, for me, they just don't react like an amp should. Again, lacking the "whump" that is talked of here. IMO of course.
P.S. Bridge P/U mid-boost Jaco tone is always fun but currently enjoying the neck P/U mid and treble boost for gritty 'Rick-o-tone'. P.P.S. Loving the consistency of tone across all 5 strings P.P.P.S. Use bass boost at your peril! Sorry Neighbs
Here's a top tip. Run your volume pot at about 80% and then you can boost without sending the front end of your amp mental. If you then cut, you've got somewhere to go with your overall output. It gives you more control of your tone without clipping the front end of your amp. Anyway, enjoy!
My old Rumour
Nice. Good to see the old workshop complete with tv too. Definately looks better with the black hardware - amazing how different the bass can look with a simple change of colour to the hardware. Thanks for the post.

A walnut through neck Spitfire 5 with matching ramp... just finished! I love the Spitfire as a through neck. Really elegant.
