1. I know what you mean. My experience with it was very similar, in that it made a "noise" and you could really attack the bass and the amp would respond - but not in half as spectacular a fashion as I would have hoped for. It didn't have the attack that I am used to - and that's not a tube emulation thing. It's a lack of body as WOT describes. I even thought it was the cabs - I've never been convinced that they are big enough for the drivers in them - changed the cabs, no difference. Still lacking in something. It doesn't have the top end I like either - just the muffley bottom end, which I don't really dig. The last time I had that kind of experience was with Line 6. It kind of (and I mean "kind of") sounds OK on a recording, but live, well, for me, they just don't react like an amp should. Again, lacking the "whump" that is talked of here. IMO of course.

 3. ...but the band and her certainly know how to put on a show (!). (Currently on BBC4)
 4.
P.S. Bridge P/U mid-boost Jaco tone is always fun but currently enjoying the neck P/U mid and treble boost for gritty 'Rick-o-tone'. P.P.S. Loving the consistency of tone across all 5 strings P.P.P.S. Use bass boost at your peril! Sorry Neighbs
Here's a top tip. Run your volume pot at about 80% and then you can boost without sending the front end of your amp mental. If you then cut, you've got somewhere to go with your overall output. It gives you more control of your tone without clipping the front end of your amp. Anyway, enjoy!
 5.
My old Rumour
Nice. Good to see the old workshop complete with tv too. Definately looks better with the black hardware - amazing how different the bass can look with a simple change of colour to the hardware. Thanks for the post.
 6. A walnut through neck Spitfire 5 with matching ramp... just finished! I love the Spitfire as a through neck. Really elegant.
 7.
Hi Chris, Yeah - Planning on getting the train on Monday as I have a day off. Once it's back here you are more than welcome to pop over bud. Its a stunner ain't it!!!!!
Gonna be a long weekend! Enjoy the bass when you get it!
 8.
come on lads and lasses give us a little help, someone somewhere out there in cyberspace must have some comments to point me in some sort of direction. BH12neil
Did you not get my message?
 9. Ted Weber does a leather dogbone handle. May be worth dropping him a line to see if the brackets match up - or if not, just use the leather bit with your existing brackets. Looks quite promising from the pic. https://taweber.powweb.com/store/tolexord.htm (handle-d) PS the failure rate on the traditional leather straps is high - thats why they were changed for the dog bones. Just looked at your sig. That's some collection.
 10.
All of a sudden I don't feel quite so bad about my lack of chops... But it did have the effect of lengthening the "maybe a couple more months practice before I look to find a band" - I have an extremely low embarassment threshold, unlike this kid! edit:typo
The most important thing is to get out there and start doing it... start mixing with people, surround yourself with people better than you - it will elevate your player quicker than you could ever imagine... otherwise you'll just turn into yet another bedroom player. Granted, practice... but you got to have something to practice for.
 11. Ha ha. Indeed. Who's is the GK then? I only know one person I know to have one of these and as far as I recall, it's still pumping out the bass! It's a shame it's not 10s he looking after... I've got a whole ruck of those sitting spare.
 12. Here you go. This is the like for like original replacement. http://www.beyerdynamiconline.com/Product....=082%2D0039%2D0
 13.
Thanks for that JTUK, my point exactly. Who is going to want a noisy mute switch, you just wouldnt use it. Have to say a big plus is the quick response from Marco. S
Hmm. Seems like a bit of an oversight I agree. Hopefully there is a quick and easy mod that can be done to rectify the problem.
 14.
My rig is as follows: Markbass Mini CMD121p Sandberg MM2 That's it! I'm using a Boss TU-2 (Soon to get a Polytune as I prefer it), and use the DI out on the amp. I'm after anything to make my sound "better", so I'm thinking EQ pedal? Compressor? Sonic Stomp? What are your never-leave-home-without pedals? I play in a pop rock band, and I EQ my bass pretty flat at the moment (All dials at 12 o'clock on the amp, the 2 filter knobs off for now as I haven't experimented with them, both humbucker pickups on the bass and flat bass EQ).
If you aren't happy with your core tone, no pedal is going to fix that for you. If you are looking for more smoother even tone, a compressor would be the obvious choice. Have you got any sound clips of tones you are trying to achieve, that may help.
 15.
Hey Daz! Well - unbelievable as it might be - no, I actually have no leads on this year's show! - That said, I've been pretty damn busy these last few months and hadn't gotten as far as planning my BassDay. I've got some amazing news to spill soon which will hopefully be great for us Bass Players - sorry I can't say anything yet! If I remember to, I'll see if I can find out what's happening this year! Doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood
I've got some amazing news too. But you'll have to wait.
 16.
I'm getting a rattle from my tweeter in my Ampeg 410HLF, I've taken the grille off I can't find any loose screws. Any ideas?
Is the diaphragm in the tweeter itself f*cked?
 17.
And THD, that is kind of an important one.
Absolutely!
 18. Feck me, there's some funny posts within here. EDIT: and I love the arrogance of one particular post. For the record, a watt is a watt and should be stated as such. If an amp manufacturer is going to specifiy watts, they should do it appropriately. RMS, Peak and and at what loading.
 19.
Can we all slag this amp off so I can get one on the cheap please. Ta.
Yeah, I'm watching the for sale section right now...
 20. Guess it explains why the amp parped out into a squidgy mess when I tried it out, trying to push some serious top end.
 21. Is this gonna be the first single cut?
 22.
I had one of their scratchplates that light up. They forgot to mention there wasn't going to be room for a battery in a MIM pbass. In all fairness they accepted the return without too much hassle.
I could have told you that from the word go - John East had to develop a new battery/charging solution for that exact reason so you could have an active circuit without having to route the bass.
 23.
Has anyone had any leds fitted by these guys, who are based in Orpington, Kent, and if so, how good was the experience? They are a lot cheaper than SIMs, although their neck leds are only quoted as lasting 5 or 6 hours on a battery (!), but I reckon I would need to go through a lot of batteries to make up the cost.....
I've never seen any of their work - it does intrigue me to how good they are and if their method of installation is the same as Sims.
