1.
Uh oh - better watch out for the Harley riders coming after you Bilbo I was a member of a Harley club in the UK for many years and I've never known so many people put so many miles on their bikes in all weathers. In my experience the riders of Honda Fireblades and Ducati sportsbikes are more likely to be 'fair weather' bikers than the Harley brigade. Of course this isn't to say that quite a lot of all bikers fall into the higher income, middle aged bracket. After all, look at me - a 52 year old, twin Fodera owner plus a BMW K1200GT, Aprilia RSVR 1,000 Factory & a Harley mild custom sitting in the garage
3 bikes sitting in the garage? You don't have much luck... get the mechanic to work on them right away... Twin Fodera? I never knew they made a model with two necks...
2. Fodera seem to be doing quite well for themselves regardless. God only knows why these threads keep on appearing.
3. They aren't still going.... are they?
4. Agreed - I think I first saw that on Wal and thought it was hideous. I suppose the choice of woods determines how obvious it is.
5.
Looks very similar to an ACG Gallus (sp?) crossed with a Sandberg
Indeed - the Gallus is very similar - the key difference being the inclusion of the sharp edge under the control pots on the ACG.
6.
Yes I see that too. Bass design is becoming like car design; a big melting pot of generic shapes and concepts.
Very true - the trouble is now, with so many bass designs out there, it's becoming increasingly difficult to come up with something that looks radically different to those basses that have already been created! Originality is becoming increasingly difficult, especially when you have to build in the characterists of what makes a bass balance and comfortable (e.g. strap fixing point and hence usually the top horn, above the 12th fret).
7. Marleaux, Marleauxs... hmm... what's the plural?
8. He's in Stafford and bought the bass unplayed direct from Marleaux. The only collection of Marleauxs I have seen have been at the Bass Day in Manchester... I think Promenade Music in Morecambe are the UK dealers - http://www.promenade...Promenade-Music
9.
So... Maybe the key is to find a cheap but good luthier to make you an exact copy of a fodera for a third of the price and name it a fauxdera
Isn't that like buying a Toyota MR2 and putting a Ferrari bodykit on it?
10. Member here "basstard" had the first one made (he's actually pictured in the catalogue - http://www.marleaux-bass.de/fileadmin/download/Marleaux_Catalogue_2012.pdf ). It's a beauty. Not sure about the control knobs... they look cool in the pictures, not so good up in the flesh but an amazing instrument all the same.
11. I haven't got the transcription as such but when I had to play this, I found that the guitar pro version I found online was pretty accurate. Quality bass lines, most overlooked. I even started working on a looper version of the song... but got bored. Shame as it was sounding ace at one point.
12. SOLD!! Thanks.
13. Up to the top again.
14. I have had these pedals for a while and they hardly see any use so it makes sense to move them on to new homes so I can free up the money tied up in them. EBS Dynaverb £110 - mint condition pedal, box shows wear as it has lived in my gig bag amongst leads and the like. EBS Bass IQ £Gone - mint condition pedal, box shows wear as it has lived in my gig bag amongst leads and the like. EBS UniChorus £Gone - mint condition pedal, box shows wear as it has lived in my gig bag amongst leads and the like. EBS Microbass II - mint condition complete with mint condition box. Latest revision. Bought as a back up to go into the PA but since having a spare head, it has become surplus to my requirements so somebody else should have the benefits of it! £Gone
15.
Does this come with Uk power supply?
There is no UK power supply with EBS pedals. They are all two pronged Europeans - I just use a converter.
16. bump
17.
Not sure if this is the correct place to put this but here goes... Early Monday morning (30th Jan) a van with a lot of musical equipment was stolen from a driveway in Lichfield (the reg is: BD52 ARO). Amongst that equipment was my gear: - Fender 50's reissue p bass, looks like the one in this video: - Little Mark III amp - 2x Markbass New York 112 cabs (shown in the pic below). It's probably long gone but if anyone does notice these things being flogged anywhere please send me a message to let me know! Thanks, Alex
This was the Musgraves haul wasn't it? Pah, I'm sorry dude, hope that the gear turns up somewhere soonish!
18.
You can say what you like about Ritter but I don't think anyone can deny he knows how to apply a finish to an instrument!
It's more about getting top quality photographs!
19. 70s Silverface in moderate condition with a bit of attention needed usually realise 500-600 quid.
20. A beaut in the making!
21. Perhaps I am being cynical but I would want some evidence of a trussrod...
22. Sounds like any other Ashdown to me. I'm sure their speakers are doing them no favours... And didn't you see a little puff of smoke coming out the top there??!!!
23.
Am sure my luthier will be posting some of his work within on this site soon, but am sure he would not want to be associated with me after this
Sorry Jimmy, I slipped with the hacksaw. Don't suppose you'll mind if it looks more Steinberger than Wal do you?
24.
Russ - I have flirted with the synth idea too. Truth be told it hurt my right hand more than the bass... that said it was 'new' to the hand and obviously removes the shoulder issues. I just don't think I'm willing to give up the bass just yet. It is my fall back though
Man up or buy a banjo!
25. Perhaps you should try one of these instead...
