2. Yamaha BBNE2. Loved it. But in reality, I wouldn't play. I just miss looking at it
3.
Actually Nick asked me to do that around the same time he last posted here but I just forgot about it until now!! Cheers
Ah... you work for ibassmag too?
4. This is the problem with media. There are those that can... and those that enjoy playing at it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVmmYMwFj1I People have paid money. You deliver the goods. Simple. Otherwise, you're just a crook. So lets get this right, can't reply to a thread but can converse with ped. Hmm... I'd give up now. Tarnished beyond recovery I reckon.
5. Indeed - you are pushing towards a Neve 8801...
6.
All this talk of valuable basses .. makes me wonder what Macca's original Hofner would fetch
God knows where it is. It was nicked.
7. Indeed. As dood says. In fact, I know an engineer who insists you record straight into the desk... and then if you want any "amp" stuff going on, he'll take a feed out from the recording to an amp on playback and record the resulting sound from cabs, other pres etc post the playing... It's very difficult to equate a recording to a particular setup... especially post mastering.
8. A lot of Trace present in this rig... yet it doesn't seem to be as popular as it once was? Why is that? I used to have a fair bit of Trace and I never really dug the sound despite everybody saying that it should be what I should be using. It certainly doesn't seem as prolific now...?
9. What's the DI output level like on the Reidmar? Just wondering if they were on the overly hot side like the HD and TDs?
10.
iv had a look and can see no signs of this technique, so hes either very good or there is some other way.
Indeed... even with the route technique, the results can be invisible. Hmm... wonder which way was used.
11. ok, so they've used a single. No matter, connect one wire to one of the middle lugs. connect the other to one of the outer lugs.... e.g.... if the lugs looklike this...
O O O O O O
wire these...
X X O O O O
12. You should so post a link to this on the Musicman forum. I think they would be dead interested.
13.
jack phillips in bolton fitted my green front and side leds, did a great job, not quite sure of the techniques used but he claims he doesnt need to remove the fretboard. if anyone knows exactly how this is achieved i would like to know too.
Look under the underside of the neck. If it's the "Sims" method, a small route is made along the length of the fingerboard. Depending upon how good the job is depends upon how "invisible" the job is. Anyway, this route enables enough space to put in wires. Once the neck has been fitted with LEDs, a small slither of wood matching that removed is inserted and glued into place. A quick rub down and a blast of polyester finish and a final polish... job done. Have a look - I'd be interested to know if this is the method that was used on your bass.
14.
PS. You should get along to bass bashes so you can make new profiles
That is of course, if you want your profiled amp to sound like a cross between a whale mating and staple gun factory.
15. That's a point, it's about time yours made an appearance on the website!
16. There was only master of this technique and such a humble guy. RIP Eric. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjDXEVYBv7M
17. Some new pics should be out shortly... I got to get my sh1t together and upload some!
18. I'm a big fan of Hiscox. I live about 30 mins away from the factory - I phoned them up about a foot that had come away and explained I wasn't too far away. They said come down... I did, they rivetted on a new foot, gave it a quick hoover... and replaced part of the interior as they said they had changed the cushiony bits and the newer design would be better for my bass. The cost? Gratis. Can't say fairer than that. Top marks.
19. I say.... moan, moan, moan, moan....
20. Eating is overrated.
21. Indeed - what is your budget? There's quite a few options for cheaper cabs, but can't help much without knowing budget. And I wouldn't go a single 2x10 as single cab solution.
22. The good news is that the switch in the (in my opinion better) older units is not soldered onto the PCB. Get down Maplins, get yourself a new DTDP. Take off the back of the pedal and undo the nut on the original switch. Cut off the original flying leads, remove old switch, solder the leads on to the new switch. Tighten nut when new switch is in place and put the back of the pedal back on. Job done.
