1. If you can recognise your bass as being a Stingray, it's not punk enough. Get the sander out, get some stickers on it... slam it against the wall a few times. That's punk.
2.
Actually no, the VLE just cuts the freq from about 250hz and above. its designed to emulate the old muffled speaker cabs. They should have called it.......The Ashdown knob
Does it increase the risk of the amp catching fire also?
3.
(I'm on deadline with issue 82, which is a 25th anniversary Jaco cover)

One criticism Joel, could you set the cliche monitor to a slighly higher setting please!
4.
Chaka K along with a very young Marcus [Lady Madonna] Garry
Oh yeah! Chaka rips everything touched!
5. This HAS to be my favourite cover though. The Beatles are one of those artists that should never be covered but this just nails it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psJ_rVD88ZM Greg Phillinganes synth bass line is just sublime... it just gets more incredible as the song goes on.
6. and whilst I am thinking of Ryan Adams, here's his version of Wonderwall. Not a big Oasis fan by any means but even Noel Gallagher was quoted as saying that this is the best version - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=masNmZy5d6Y
7. Seeing the Stones covers reminded me of this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=masNmZy5d6Y I love the Stone's original but this version always seemed to match the mood of the lyrics better...
8. Add the word imaculate into the debate...
9. Who actually shops in that Mesa shop anyway?
10. Got to love tigereye
11. Great thread. Love it.
12. I've got a choice of a Jazz Bass or a Ibanez Soundgear.
13. Beautiful clean lines. Love it.
14. Here you go Tony, maybe a bit better to see against the dark background -
15. That neck is stunning. Got to love the tele inspired shape on a bass... although you have to watch with the balance, they have a habit of being a bit head dive happy. It reminds me of the MM Reflex - a bass I have yet to try but absolutely love in white -
16. Damn. Indestrucable cabs, not close enough to make it worth while
17. Not at all - I don't think Fodera are all that... what with their sanding marks under the lacquer... I'm just looking at ways of pimping up an old bass with something different than another East, Aguilar, Bartolini etc... I can't see anything unseating me from my GBs.
18. has anybody got any real world experience of the Mike Pope Flexcore preamp that they care to share?
19. Been trying to find some decent clips of this - any ideas where I can find one being demoed? Oh - and does the action go crazy low?
20. Any good shots of the hole fill repair?
21. Not a good close up of the head... it may say "are sh1t!"
22. One sense of humour for basskng449 please.
23.
Since it's raining most of the time I'm just keeping myself occupied with some programmed loops while I try out my new in-ears..
Beautiful tone.
24. When you say that you can't do the binding... were you going to paint it on a la Lakland Skyline method?
25. Yeah checked it out. Looks great. I'm such a slag for white basses.
