  1. That sounds awesome. Where did you manage to get it from?
  2. No apologies necessary mate- all friends here! I wonder if they'll manage to get the spitfire into the O2?
  3. James Jamerson - p bass Norman watt Roy - j bass I regard to Steve Harris' sig, wasn't his number 1 sparkly blue at some point in the past? Also I would think it would sell more in blue sparkle than with a flippin west ham logo on it
  4. Fair enough. My mistake- the squared off wings put me in mind of the hurricane
  5. I have bands in concert, e flat and d I have a bass for each as main and carry back ups that move tuning. I have small squares with the tuning on it for reference. I find this is the most convenient solution for me, plus I get to justify having lots of basses!
  6. I was amazed. It was the 20-somethingth time I've seen them and for me it ranked among the best. The hurricane flying over before they started was just the icing on the cake! Roll on aug 3!
  7. I'll be there - reliving donington '88!
  8. DOOM! - the new sabbath The new megadeth (not as bad as is being made out) And an old zero7 album
  9. Got it yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Very doomy. It's ironic that the very band that started this genre will be compared to other later bands. A creditable effort that I think stands up well in the sabbath canon
  10. I'd suggest the modern player jag, I totally love mine. The pups sound great and the neck is lovely. I picked mine up for an absolute song!
  11. The men they couldn't hang?
  12. Worst Beatles cover- anything that Liam Gallagher has been involved with
  13. cant seem to get it to play - so far it's only let me listen to god is dead? any ideas gents?
  14. I've been using 2 410s for years. Never had an issue with complaints. Sounds good, looks awesome and feels great to stand in front of!
  15. Great player, interesting person.
  16. Shocked no one has mentioned nib by sabbath
  17. I used mine in anger for the second time ( and second band!) last night. It sits beautifully in the mix and compliments the b3k wonderfully. The only issue I have is that I did find a couple of settings where I lost a little low end. The era knob I find is very versatile, and distinguishable throughout its movement in the mix. Another success story from Douglas! And Spencer of course!
  18. I have just returned from spending some time ( an hour +) with the vmt and mxr side to side. My first impression of the mxr has been confirmed. It's dark but this wouldn't cause a problem if the clean sound was 'clean' rather than with an applied eq. The vmt was a clear winner, and I ended up walking out of the shop with the darkglass to add to my b3k. I think I have most of my drive needs covered now. The era knob makes the vmt one of the single most useful drive pedals I have played ime. Time will tell how it fairs in context though
  19. If you want to go the vintage route, keep an eye open for a tony butler p. it's an awesome bass for the money (299ish new), so a second hand one should fall close to your budget. There are some wonderful jap basses from the 80's available within your budget that sound gorgeous. Anything from matsumoku is normally worth a punt. I've had some really great results using Westfield basses and upgrading the pick up. My favourite one cost me a total of less than £100 and gets compliments whenever I use it
  20. Hardwire cm2 tube drive and ts9b are the obvious two, but I have had some reasonable sounds from the mxr m80, the bod 50 by chord, the phat phuk and a few others I don't recall at the mo
  21. Thanks for your words Damon. Don't underestimate your own contribution I do have a couple of spaces free at the moment, but be quick- they are going fast!
