.......the Level control on the VMT is set at noon to keep my overall volume the same whether the effect is on or off.
Right idea, but you need to set the level control to whatever setting actually does give you the same volume. Noon position might not be it! Set the gain, blend and era to the sound you want, then adjust the level knob to give the same input to the amp with the effect on as with it off (assuming you do want the same level) That could be 2 o clock or 4 o clock even. The noon position doesn't have any relevance.
Thanks for this. I've modded my RI as per the above .....
Good news - what schematic did you refer to (if any) to rewire?
-
Ah ok so in summary, re-wire the existing 'Gibson' config for the Ric config. Straight forward enough once you discount doing all the gubbins through the F holes! I attach the original wiring diagram if you're interested.

Ok I'm interested, what next? "Get the wiring done" is a bit vague. New pots, all existing wiring just rewired, new wiring etc?

Ok it works fine, on most of the patches. I've gone for basic setup - keyboard midi out > future impact midi in > future impact 1/4" out > amp. I can control patch changes from the keyboard, I'm using a M Audio Oxygen 8. Looking at the manual I should be able to control a few more parameters too. I can't play chords. There is an editor application that you can use to connect FI to a PC via midi (or USB I think) and modify the patches. It is actually designed to accept a midi OR bass signal.
Can anyone with one of these tell me - If using with a MIDI Controller, do you have to use the MIDI output? Or can you plug a MIDI Keyboard into the input, then take the normal jack out and run through an amp?
Sounds a good idea - I'll try it at home tonight and report back.

I upgraded to the iRig Pro from the basic iRig and have no latency issues. I think it's the same D/A converter in the HD2? I use it with Bias, Amplitube, and that other app that Ashdown use. I did find quite a lot of latency with the regular iRig however. I find it best with Bias, but I think you have to pay for that!

I use mine for exactly as described, a transportable setup to cover the main components of my sound when it's not practical to take a full setup or when I'm just lazy. I like the boost and the chorus as I can boost the Sansamp for extra drive when needed or for [rare] solos. Not tried it with my main board but it's on my list to do.
I was thinking of buying a Bass Driver when I saw this. Am I right in thinking everything you can do with a BD you can do with this plus the extra effects?
This doesn't have the blend function or the frequency selection for bass and mid, but primarily the same.

Drummers choose to be drummers.

You could alternate by fret -maple/rosewood/maple/rosewood etc That'll screw with the 'experts' minds.....
My mate just popped over with 2 of these, though one is going back to the shop right now as the neck has major QC issues so will need to go back to Fender. Hopefully he'll be coming back here later with a replacement.
That's just greedy, buying two at a time - no wonder they're out of stock! Out of interest, what was wrong with the neck?
-
Same as bass effects though surely? Distortion, overdrive, delay, chorus, all have their uses but don't need to be use all the time. I love the mild overdriven sound but really don't like huge distortion that much.

Now't better than a good ol' Tubescreamer!

Thanks, I'll get back to them. I wonder why they supply a sub standard power supply as stock? Off to buy that regulated one, cheers!

Can you not tighten the truss rod slightly and add some relief?
Didn't know there was an iPad app!
Sorry got my apps muddled. There is a iPad app for the THR10 but it's not an editor like the PC software, apologies!
-
Is it the first generation or second generation box that you're buying? I believe that they've fixed this 'issue' with the second generation. Indeed I have the second gen and get no clipping using the instrument setting going direct.

Hi Chris sorry for the delay in replying. Yes exactly that. I'm using the power supply that came with it. You'd have thought they'd have checked? I did email the distributor who basically told me to email Tech21. I did that too and they said "sorry must be your UK voltage"... I'll check out another power supply! Cheers Steve

And another THR10 vote. Great sound from such a small thing and editing software for iPad or pc adds masses of flexibility. I run my pedalboard in to it too. For something a little louder I use a Vox Valvetronix VT40X which is also nice

Music shops -any wonder they're going under?
Muppet replied to Jakester's topic in General Discussion
My local shop used to be terrible - one of those shops that stocked three basses, one Squier, one Encore and a MIM Precision on a good day and thought bass strings started and ended with Rotosounds. Then a fella came in who knew what he was doing and turned it around. They'll get high end stuff in just for me to try out, no obligation, will match internet prices and give a small discount for regular customers, will set up all their guitars before they go on display and take an interest in all the folk in the shop. This is the sort of shop that I am proud to have on my doorstep and will support as much as I can. -
Fender supplier did the same with a Blues Junior I bought. Told then I was disappointed when it packed up so they sent me a Hot Rod Deluxe instead.

So I have this pedal - it takes a 9v centre negative supply, no batteries. Power supply comes with it. Works fine plugged in to any amplifier or recording interface. It has a switch that changes the mono 1/4" out to a dual mono signal designed for use with headphones. When using headphones there is awful buzz like poor grounding. I've tried a number of different power supplies and the noise goes away by using the Diago Powerstation. All other supplies give this noise, but only when using headphones. Tried the usual - changed leads, different wall sockets etc... Any ideas why this one power supply alleviates the problem or, conversely, why all the others cause it? Manufacturer doesn't know. I'm about to return it....

For me, thumb positioning is crucial and I tend to subscribe to the Scott Devine theory in the main. I often hear people say "I've got small hands I can't handle a Precision (or whatever) neck, when a change of thumb position and modification of fretting technique would resolve that.
