I'm having fewer problems than last year but my biggest issue now is having a sound in my head (or from a recording) and having no idea how to use the editor to get the sound right. I'm convinced the pedal can do it, I am the limiting factor.

I run pretty much this setup too with the Helix going in to a BF FR800. The only difference in mine is that I add a cab IR to the signal going to the FRFR. I leave that off the FOH feed as that effectively mirrors a post EQ DI from the amp head. The great thing with the Helix is that you're not restricted to the traditional pre/post DI options.

I've got a Deluxe Dimension V and an Elite Dimension V. Only difference I can tell is the logo (black vs silver), the hard case and the price. The American Dimensions have always had the compound neck and truss rod wheels.

I treat rosewood boards with a little bore oil rather than lemon oil once or twice a year. Oil soap for waxed necks then gunstock wax. All depends what your neck is, I guess!

Bubble wrap and stick it on top of a wardrobe?

If your seller was a commercial business I'd be inclined at this point to leave it up to them and ask for my money back. With your seller in Germany and (from the sound of it) not a commercial operation then its to your credit that you are doing as much as you are to get it resolved, as it's clearly not your fault. Unfortunately it's really for him to sort with the delivery agents and claim the insurance. Mistakes happen but the most annoying thing to me is that someone has your guitar and is denying it.

Looking on the Gator website there's no Pro Go X just a regular Pro Go that looks a bit different. Has one replaced the other? If it's an outgoing model that maybe explains the keen price.

I run the three band compressor before it. But I put it where it is because with the Helix I can!
-
With the flexibility in the helix you can put it in any order. I actually put it in an effects loop and move it around to suit.

This is also a good explanation of balancing input gain and master and channel volumes in the Helix https://line6.com/support/topic/32285-controlling-gain-master-volume-and-channel-volume/

If you select the output block at the end of your signal chain you can increase the level up to about +20db. Jon has created these just as baseline settings - getting the right sound for you is a balance of input gain, channel volume and master volume, EQ adjustments aside. From a cab perspective, I use a cab sim when I'm going helix in to my FRFR onstage cab and send a DI only (no cab) signal to the PA. This would replicate my usual live setup with traditional amp/cabs. I tend to use the 3 sigma IRs but blend the IR level to get a sound that I want. One thing I have noted is that a good headphone sound does not equal a good live sound and vice versa.

by the way, the only 'real' effect I still have in the loop is my Future Impact. Line6 haven't quite nailed the filters yet......!

I've tried it with Helix floor but only with a Tubescreamer and a B3K. I ditched the pedals in the end as the ones in the Helix were more than good enough. The floor has four send/return loops so the options for connecting external pedals (or external anything) are huge. I'm not sure how well the Stomp could handle it but from a Floor point of view you could get your guitarist to A/B his current pedals against the inbuilt models, even blending the signals to compare, to see what he thinks. Then you sell him 'Snapshots' and effects trails.......

The last two DHL deliveries I've received have been confirmed with photos of the front door. I do find it weird that people sign for and take in parcels that are clearly not for them (kindly neighbours notwithstanding).

Mr @charic above stated he was no longer in EA, although his location tag would indicate otherwise

Has Cambridgeshire been excommunicated from East Anglia? I'm up for this. I do all my gigging in this area!

I couldn't in the end, so it's on long term loan so it's still mine and I can get it back when I need it, but knowing that it's also being used! edit: when I say couldn't, I meant I couldn't bring myself to sell it.....not that nobody wanted to buy it...!

I have one of the early emerald green ones and it's lovely. I've currently lent it to a friend who also loves it. He's in a wheelchair and finds it very comfortable to play, especially as it's not too heavy at all. I use it with 45-105 flats and they really bring out the sound.

Agree with the BH heads, though I do like the ELF! As above, the combo speaker has a very short 1/4" lead from the speaker to the head. Given that the head is effectively mounted vertical in the cabinet you'd need to extend it. One thing to think about is that if you want to use the speaker in the combo without the head, then it has no link capability so you'd need to daisy chain from the head to the extension cab, then out to the combo speaker. You'd need a speakon to female 1/4" connector if you didn't want to modify the combo speaker cable. Or get a head with a speakon out and a 1/4" out, like the LM3 has.

@martthebass @hiram.k.hackenbacker Do we need a separate Starry Night thread....?

I use one of these to carry two basses around. I love it and use it exclusively over my other had cases or gig bags. The basses are snug and well protected, it fits in my car nicely and has lots of pockets, It also has shoulder straps and a rain cover. https://gatorcases.com/products/guitar/instrument-bassguitar/pro-go-ultimate-guitar-gig-bags/pro-go-guitar/dual-bass-guitar-gig-bag-g-pg-bass-2x/

Help save my back.......new amp options help needed
Muppet replied to donslow's topic in Amps and Cabs
Sorry. I meant that for a true lightweight setup you could switch to using a Line6 Helix as an amp modeller, (or any other preamp pedal to be fair) send your signal to the PA from it and hear yourself back through in ear monitors. It's not for everyone as some people just have to have the traditional bass amp back line. To some it's a heinous crime but gigging without an amp is so achievable nowadays and not limited to large venues or complex PA setups. There are thread some in the effects section on the Helix and IEM discussions are in the accessories section. -
