  1. I would just check first that the wiring in your problem bass matches the standard wiring schematic for a jazz bass. You could always just check the bad bass against the actual good one to make sure they match. This is a pretty simple job and is a good starting point before you wade in with a soldering iron!
  2. Does that advice stand for the ABM as well?
  3. Both pickups working? Have you taken of the control plate to see if there's anything obviously out of place with the wiring?
  4. '75, '72, 60th anniversary, Nate Mendel, '95, '05. I should stop now.
  5. This is an absolute bargain! Can't believe it's still here. These replaced the AVRI series and are cracking basses.
  6. Option one, mainly because in the original song the bass line supports the string section.
  7. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  8. How small is small? How much do you want to spend? Do you need a XLR DI out? How much tone shaping control do you need? The Fender pedal mentioned above is a lot of pedal for the money - Alex Aguilar designed, I believe - or there's the Xotic BB Preamp, Tonehammer DI, GK Plex, Helix Stomp, Ampeg SCR-DI (although I'd refer this pedal without the Scrambler), amoongst many others. I'd probably start with a Sansamp BDDI though!
  9. I like the fact they've done a version for guitar too called The Newt. Nice idea.... https://ashdownmusic.com/collections/heads/products/the-newt
  10. They are the same size but I don't think you can buy a separate one. If you wanted a silver one then making your own I think would be pretty easy - I took the front off mine and it's four strips of wood, corner pieces, velcro and a bit of grill cloth!
  11. It'll have to be substantially different from the 600 Evo IV RC to warrant that increase in size. And that existing amp is so good it'll be difficult to beat!
  12. Feeling Good? I've done it based on Muse's version which works well as a three piece....
  13. I picked up a Studio 10 a couple of days ago and it's brilliant. I've got a Rumble 500 too and can see that the Studio 15 is a serious challenger for that.
  14. Yeah Northampton it was! They just left me to it, just checking every now and then to see if I wanted another combo to try.
  15. I just went in to PMT on an afternoon, bagged their sofa and got them to bring me everything of a certain size that they had in stock! I really really wanted to like the Orange 50 because it looks so cool, but I just couldn't get on with the sound. It's a good problem to have though when there's so much quality stuff for under the £300 mark.
  16. Yeah I've had no reply either. Probably being intentionally vague with the hope of a bite. The logo is very wrong, but so are the tuners on that neck
  17. Check this out. Part of me thinks something's not right here. Neck stamp looks worn but could be ok (I think the lines are JUL) headstock logo is subtly wrong, patent numbers aren't right but it's the wrong logo for the year, if the year is 72. Truss rod looks like it's had a repair. Serial number of neckplate dates to 62/63, bridge looks 60s. Tuners I'm not sure about. I asked the seller for better photos, neck pocket, pots and wiring, pickups etc but no response. What do we think? It could be a huge bargain but something tells me otherwise. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-With-Case-Strap-original-covers-strings-PICK-ups-broken/324024695620
  18. Blackguard Blonde is the more common but I've never seed the sunburst with a white pickguard, only ever black. And there weren't may of those. That looks like an Elite case too....
  19. Interesting. I just picked up a studio 10 after I tried it side by side with a Rumble 40, Orange Crush 50 and Blackstar Unity 60. With a Precision the sound was spot on, easily beat the rest by miles and I'm a huge Rumble 500 fan.
  20. Ashdown created this gizmo specifically for the situation you describe. Bit pricey though!!! https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitar-pedals/bass-di-boxes/ashdown-phone-box-headphone-out-di-box-for-connection-to-heads
  21. Reduced to £170 including delivery Needs no introduction, In excellent condition, with box and gubbins from the inside, as well as the supplied power supply. Price includes postage.
  22. Thanks mate. I picked one up a few years ago now for around £200 at the time and have used it pretty much every day since. If you go all the way back five years to the original post you'll see that the pricing was always the main concern. For the price I paid, however, I think it's a fantastic piece of kit.
