4.
Spoke to the singer today. He's taking it down to Sotheby's who have said that it should sell for quite a sum. As mentioned, there's a fair bit of history involved with that bass.
Thats a good idea, hope he has a sensible reserve on it. Let us all know when its up for auction. Can you ask him if he went to the Electric Ballrom gig i mentioned and if he remembers it? (The Ramones / The Boys / Ten Pole Tudor)
 5. I'd try one more text before deciding. I have had people text me and i didnt get it. It depends on how long you have told the base station to hold on to texts and stuff for before deleting them automatically. Someone who has say, lost their phone in the boot of their car (me) or down the side of the seats (also me) or left it at work(me too) or just lost the phone entirely (yes me again) would not have got your message through an innocent mistake.

 7.
Dont even bother with them UK border control possibly confiscate somewhere in the region of 95% of all their shipments to individuals, HOW DO I KNOW THIS We are contracted for the final destruction and incineration of these and other seized goods,UGGS, REEBOK,TOYS,PERFUME,DVDs etc etc every week container loads And Cannabis by the van load.........And its all watched over by uniformed gaurds so DONT ASK!!!
If i was going to venture so far, id ask them to put some innane name on the headstock (Tokai seems to be a favourite) and get them to send the Rickenbacker plates via another post. Im sure that must be what happens anyway Tino Anyway never mind all that. Can i ask what that great looking 51 Esquire Modified model to Esquiresque is? It looks fantastic
 8. I just went over to the TradeTang website mentioned in that thread, and looked up bass guitars. Number one at the top of the list is a Ric copy with Rikenbacker made in usa on the headstock. Shameless lol!! TraadeTang chinese guitar making - copying place
 9. Here is my Ramones gig story. (As a young pup of just 17) I went to see The Ramones supported by The Boys and TenPole Tudor, then the next night we saw The Slits suppoted by The Pop Group and The Raincoats, at London's Electric Ballroom in march of 1980. The gig was so hot that Dee Dee's bass was going out of tune every 5 minutes. The Electric Ballroom was always hot when packed but this was the hottest it had ever been apparently, and this was only in March. Apparently the already inadequate ventilation system was broken. The Ramones got so pissed off, that after 20 minutes they insisted that the side doors next to the stage were opened or they would not carry on. When the side door opened you could see the entire audience steaming away as the heat rose rose from and contacted the cold air from the open doors. Fantastic gig though. The Ramones in their prime. some pics from the gig, not taken by me. The Ramones at that very same Electric Ballrom gig. This is taken during one of the opening numbers, and there is the very bass unless he always bought the same white P bass ?maybe he did. It would be interesting to find out the year the bass in question was given away by Dee Dee? A short while later Sans leather jackets.

ebay link dont think he knows you can buy the exact same one new for £250 lol. 12. Where can these plans for the Ric copy be got from ?
 13.
Been a bit quiet here for a week or so, and then along comes http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RICKY-COPY-HANDMADE-...=item4aa7679130
Why dont people take 10 seconds to turn there pics round the right way. Arghh thats so lazy, especially on a sale picture.Or are they just so daft they dont know how. I wonder. ps: anyone have any idea of a ballpark price its worth ?

 16.
Just got this through the door - aaarghhhh!!! The badly cropped random photo appears to be a cropped enlargement of fig. 4 and thus the real fig. 1 which the article keeps referring to has been omitted. Brilliant. The first plot does say dB on the y-axis but I'd assumed the axes were obvious, so that's my mistake. Here are the correct illustrations before I hop off on the warpath...
The way they messed up your article is a disgrace. Your articles have been one of the few genuinely informative and interesting things that I have read in a whole year of buying the magazine. Wish you'd been on board from the begining of my readership. Why is there no checking of the mag before it goes to press? Every month something happens that could have been put right so easily before printing. Have they got anyone who actually speaks english?
 17. Put me on the list please. There is a dvd 0f the same name, all about his life.
 18.
I've had that a couple of times. Once it was a set of LaBella flats where the E string sounded dull and also looked different from the others, metal a bit darker, even the silk was darker. So I thought that string was probably from a different batch than the others. The other time it was just that the silk was on the bridge saddle. I've found this is common with Rotosound and a bit of hacking with a craft knife fixed it.
I have the same thing on my old Peavey milestone MKI, i put new Rotosound flats on it and the E is definately a bit dull. I did notice the silk on the bridge saddle and trimmed it, but it only helped a bit. It doesnt seem to be tight in the nut, where i anyway put some graphite in. Noticeable both plugged and un-plugged, pick or thumb. Very annoying as im otherwise fond of the old Peav'
 19.
I've used a guitar clip on tuner and it wouldn't recognise open A, E or B strings. So make sure it can go low enough for bass.
Mine wasnt much cop either. Bought a plug in Korg instead. Thats why your guitard is never in tune.
 20.
I've said it before & I'll say it again - I miss Bassist!
I wasnt playing bass when that magazine was out. Has anyone out there got one or two old ones to spare so i can see what it was like. Ill pay for postage & packing ? ps: re: Jeff Berlin. Actually I couldnt tell if Victor Bailey was doing a subltle pisstake of jeff berlin on stage at the last bass day. When he talked about guys who were wizzards on the bass as far as technique were concerned but had 'no groove' whatsoever!
 21. pictures please. You know the rules PS
Firstly, happy new year to y'all! (2011... can't be long now till we get jetpacks, surely?).
Never mind the jet packs. What about the jet powered rocket pants. ? What about the cities on the moon?
 22. I mean no disrespect but i for one have never heard of Bongo basses? I thought it was a thread about the fruit drink! Who makes them? ps: you need some better pics to show it off to its best, not phone taken ones.
 23.
When I spoke to Billy recently, it wasn't so much where Ampeg gear was made, it was more how it's made. He certainly wasn't happy with the performance of newer Ampeg gear.
yep thats exactly what i heard him say on stage at the bass day
 24.
I shut my right index finger in the car door. It went black and the nail eventually fell off. This took some time. It was as if the nail had died and a new one started to grow underneath. I'm sorry to say this but it took almost six months for it to get back to 'normal'. However, this was a very different type of injury to the one you described.
Same thing happned to me, mine fell off too.
 25.
A poster has suggested this is Billy Sheehan's new head now that he is a Hartke player, but I haven't seen anymore info' on that yet. More info' here:
Does anyone have a large pic of the kit behind Billy at the last Bass Day in manchester? He had a lot of Hartke stuff behind him? It looks a beauty though.
