1. Never heard of BaCH. Who am they ?
2. Thanks for the replies. This is certainly an interesting subject to learn about. The only reason i thought of asking it was because of the ebay link i saw on here last month price starting at $1900+ click here with the supposed Practically "Priceless" and unique ebay sale
Rare 1980's Japanese Bass Guitar P-Bass Copy by "Vogue"
Someone here speculated that it might be just a cheap imported bass with a name sticker pasted on it, bought in by the container load. When i messaged the guy on ebay asking if he thought his super rare bass with a brand name nobody had ever heard of might just be one of those, i got an email back with him seemingly shocked, He said he had been to 8 or 9 music shops in the US and none had ever heard of this happening ?? I had no axe to gring as I was never going to bid for it nor would I even if I had the spare cash. I was and still am curious about it, and the whole importing in bulk and stamping ones own name on deal.
3. There was a thread on here last month about a bass on US ebay here The seller was claiming it as some super rare bass or something. Some one on this forum wrote something about when he worked in a music store in the 80s that they used to buy in similar basses from Korea or somewhere and re badge them as there own make or something.? I was speaking to a guy who also worked in a music shop during the early 80s and he mentioned something similar happening. Does anyone on the forum know anything about this practice? From what i can recal my mate seemed to think that this was normal practice for some companies and perfectly acceptable. Just as re badging of many other consumer items goes on. Can anyone expand on this?

6. Never heard of a Mike Lull bass till i read your post and looked them up. At those prices im afraid I am out of the running to own one at the moment. They do look most excellant basses to play, especially the V4 Lake Placid Blue with the hipshot bridge and tuner and Lindy Fralin Pickups. Oh well, one day maybe. A warm welcome to the Forum.
7. Bartleby has it at the moment. Next on the list are: 1. tauzero 2. ead 3 farmer61 4. Steve-Soar Any more want a read of this most excellantly funny book ?

10. An interesting book for Squeeze fans and song writers alike. I have included an Amazon link so people can see what the book is about. I was just about to give away a copy of this book, when i looked inside and found it autographed by Glen Tilbrook himself! Fortunately though I also have a second copy, Bought by mistake, so thats the one im giving away. The song by song series is an interesting idea. Including as it does a biography of the band. All the bands songs are gone through and what they are about and how they were penned (if they remember) is in this book. Also the entire cataloge of songs have the lyrics printed out. I have only recenly got into Squeeze, when i saw a greatest hits cd and realized i knew every song on it and most of them were quality, with some good bass in them. Anyone wants a read let me know, ill do the usual list etc.

12.
It is.
Its more difficult id say. Practically any strum will hit a chord or harmonic sound. try that on a bass. When i lived in sunny Torquay I lived up the hill from a music shop. I found a stringless guitar outside said shop, took it home and fixed it up. Was soon twanging away through a book of songs from the library. Certainly wasnt that easy with a bass. (I wish!)
13. Noel Redding the Bass player for the group, writes the definitive book about life in the band and life with Jimi. Carol Appleby was Jimi's longtime girlfriend. Anyone wants to read it let me know. Better than it sitting on the shelf.
14. Still waiting to hear an answer from last months solid lead Yamaha fiasco. Not a peep from their forum.
15. I got a brand new Westfield P bass as my first bass this time last year on ebay for £80 including p&p. (taking a plunge and buying a bass was the best thing i have done for myself in years) Colur Titanium (ie Canal dark green, not a lovely Viet Cong green like the OP) Same one is being sold for £160 now, or you can get a new black P bass if you are quick for £89. If you want a secondhand one im sure you can pick up one for £30 or 40 if not less if your not too picky and or lucky. Trouble is they all seem to be P bass, no J style anywhere. They are fine to learn on and splendid for the price. Mine is a decent enough bass, even better though when i finally plucked up the courage to adjust the truss rod a half turn, to stop the strings ratlling (never done it before)
16. Just a little food for thought: If i recal correctly Stuart Zender says something like (and I'm massively paraphrasing here) ' I used a five stringer when i first joined Jamiroquoi, so i could emulate what had been done before I joined, but it wasnt really me. Now I have an established place in the band I am more likely to use a four stringer with an octave pedal'
17.
I bet Ernie Ball would of made a birdseye roasted maple tea chest though! And pre PG tips ones would be worth a fortune, People would be saying how they bust them up for fire wood back in the day
------------> Zinggg!!
18. Welcome to the Forum mate. From whats said on the forum and from what i can tell from a limited personal experience, I'd try one of those Barefaced cabs before i spent any money. You may even be able to try one for free if your lucky. Im on the list to try one myself.
19. studtybass.com is an excellant web site, if you want to learn to play the bass and read notation. Luckily i found it early on im this my first year of bass playing. (now nearing my first anniversary) Its Possibly the best on the net, for what it does. It sets everything out clearly and if you go through the course in the order its laid out in, its extremely well planned to progress in a steady fashion. imho. This book Simplified sight reading for bass, gets good reviews im going to buy it and give it a go.
20. Re the recent 'most owned pedals' topic. The Boss TU2 was the most owned pedal. Although disqualified on a technicality of it being a tuner, not an effects pedal. My question is simply. What makes this tuner such a popular one? I mean its price of £70 or so means that there are lots of seemingly good chromatic tuners out there that were looked over in favour of the Boss TU2. ie: Why is it any better than my seemingly equally popular Korg GA1 guitar & bass tuner, costing £10 ? So whats the gen on this tuner then ? Should I sling my Korg and buy a TU2 ( or its new upgraded model the TU3 ?) ps: Does anyone have any thoughts on the cheaper copy Behringer TU3000 pps: The Behringer TU300 weights on the Amazon web site are as follows; Item Weight: 386 g Boxed-product Weight: 6 Kg. ------------------------- That'l be the new eco friendly cast iron packaging, with a small carbon footprint then?
21.
If you'd like a bit more awareness: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2010/jun/2...-library-income
yeah well 6p per read book not for much longer methinks, as Tories are looking for easy pickings. Also this does not apply anywhere in the USA, South America, Asia, Russia or Africa. Can we please get back the threads reason. ie: to the list 1. tauzero 2. ead 3 farmer61 4. Steve-Soar
22.
My guess would be that most people have never heard of The Clash, let alone know a bass line. Someone played that line at last years south-east bash and I didn't recognise it.
Fancy not knowing that one. You, you, you, Philistine..
23. As far as im aware most lending libraries pay the author once for the book and thats all. The author can im sure ask that their books not be sold to libraries, I cant recal this ever happening. Authors and their publishers must be hip to the fact that if someone reads a book from a library and likes it, they are much more likely to buy that or another by the same author for themselves or as a present. Whatever gets an authors name known is for the good. Name recognition counts for a lot. Now back to the list: (Anyone else want to lend this brilliantly funny book and then pass it on ?) 1. tauzero 2. ead 3 farmer61 4. Steve-Soar
24. Just been in to view it. Pretty light, maybe 8lbs, it had the strings through the body. Guy reckons it was imported into the UK maybe 15 or more years back as a Rushworths own make similar thing. (no idea if this is true) It had made in korea on the back.
25. I saw a Jimmy (or Jim) Harley P bass today. Has anyone ever heard of it? Cant see an y info on it really, beyond someone else asking the same question. Anyone know of it, I assume its a cheapo? Anyone played one? ps: i think it has big old brass string tension rollers on the bridge (minds gone blank on the proper name for these) and a solid piece of metal for the bridge itself. Not bent tin like some cheap guitars these days.
