  1. A hardly used Levy's M4GF strap in black. Lovely soft leather, lightly padded, suede backing. WIDTH: 3½ ” LENGTH: 36″ TO 52″ Straplocks have been fitted, but the strap is hardly used. £36 per strap new, I am firm on £25 posted.
  2. Excellent signature cab made by Markbass for Alain Caron. The 3-way cab features a new custom 12" speaker with 800W power handling, a special new 5" speaker, and a new 1" compression driver. Very high fidelity cab: you really hear what your bass sounds like. The cab has been used very little and is in mint condition. It comes with a very nice "Hot Covers" padded cover (£46). These are £749 new. I'm asking £575 couriered (in the original box) within the UK . IMPEDANCE : 8 ohms SPEAKER SIZE: 1x12" + 1x5" TWEETER: 1" coil compression tweeter BASS PORT: rear POWER HANDLING: 800W RMS CROSSOVER FREQUENCIES: 1.5 KHz / 5.5 KHz FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 40 Hz to 20 kHz SENSITIVITY: 99 dB SPL WEIGHT: 46.73 lbs / 21.2 Kg WIDTH: 14.9 in. / 38 cm DEPTH: 17.12 in. / 43.5 cm HEIGHT: 23.22 in. / 59 cm
  3. La Bella nylon flats are superb on an acoustic, especially if you're plugging in.
  4. We had a "twin skin" wooden garden room built a few years ago. It's fully insulated and is usable without additional cooling/heating in all but extremes of temperature. Equipment (amps, drums, electric piano etc) don't seem to suffer in it at all. I don't leave high value instruments out there but cheap ones seem to cope fine in all conditions. Even though it's insulated and has double glazed windows, there's very little attenuation the minute you hit a snare or plug something in! It's morphed into a boycave for my 15yo son recently: PS4 with large flat screen TV and arm chair, and a Roland electric drum kit, seem to dominate the space!
  5. The Sigma basses are decent enough, I have a fretted one for home noodling. The Fishman preamp is certainly a good unit. The nut needed dropping a touch and it had one high fret, but they are a decent bass for the money.
  6. Oh nice Dave, a lot of Wal Mk III about these, looks-wise.
  7. Technically true, yes, but my bass had a 71 neck, 68 pots and oval tuners, so it was a real "parts bin" hybrid. The finish was definitely nitro.
  8. Brand new in box. This is a high quality, robust foot switch with straightforward Double On/Off functionality perfect for studio or home usage. Steel casing built to withstand heavy use. This product is hard wired at the side with Lynx pro audio cable which is 6 Foot (1.82 Metres) in length and terminates in a Stereo 6.3mm (1/4") jack plug. These are £20 delivered new, so save a fiver.
  9. Update: Thomann have said I can have the bass repaired in the UK and they will just refund me direct
  10. Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am inclined to just get it sorted here.
  11. The fingerboard on my Thomann bass is starting to come away from the neck. They have agreed to repair it and cover return shipping, but I have to get it back to Germany for this to happen, and while I have a very nice soft case I don't own anything suitable to ship it in! I remember the bass came in a very bespoke cardboard box, with all sorts of foam and odd shaped panels, but that went in the bin long ago. Presumably I could hire a hard case, but if so, from where? Any suggestions would be most welcome! Oh and I did ask if they would cover the cost of a repair completed in the UK but they declined. Maybe the easiest option is to get it sorted here anyway though: who's good in Hampshire/Surrey? Thanks Gareth
  12. "Man of Colours" is a superb album. Choc full of syth-tastic 80s power pop.
  13. My new setup. Markbass Little Marcus 800 and a Standard 102HF Limited Edition
  14. I sold Steff an amp gig bag. Very smooth deal with fast payment and great comms. Happy to recommend.
  15. I brought a 71 P bass back to a lovely shine with it. It's very good for nitro basses. The pics below aren't mine, but give you a good idea of what it can do. Before After
  16. Mrs WB had this beautiful ACG made for my 50th, but it was a bit too heavy for me. So we sold it, and bought my first Franz instead. She's very understanding is Mrs WB!
  17. I've used black, white and copper nylons from La Bella. Absolutely superb strings. Smooth, low tension but high gauge so you can really dig in. Last a lifetime. The white nylons remain my string of choice for fretless.
  18. It is now. Edited by your friendly BC moderators
  19. I know, I'm really pleased with it. There's a brief build thread here if you fancy learning more.
  20. I bought the fretless first, from Thomann actually, as I wanted a really light, resonant, chambered fretless. The bass was just perfect, so I had a fretted bass built as well. Never been so happy with my basses All the spec for my bass is on the homepage here. No I don't use the wedge as standard, just as and when it's needed.
  21. @Al Krow it's a Franz Sirius DC from Germany. Custom made for me and featuring a chestnut top taken from a tree felled in my parent's garden. I also use a fretless Franz. I used the wedge to tame the bottom end in what was a relatively small room with suspended wooden floor.
  22. Me too. I go through phases of wanting to use effects, so I put together a basic pedalboard, use it a couple of times, and then sell it all off.
  23. Gigged the new rig on Saturday night and I have to say it sounded fantastic. Really pleased with this combination.
  24. My name is Walbassist and I am a string bender.
  25. That was a nice bass If it were me I'd buy a matched PJ set rather than try to mix and match. I'd imagine you're much more likely to get a good result that way.
