SOLD: Markbass CMD Super Combo K1 - 1000 watts
franzbassist posted a topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
This is a very reluctant sale, and I really am in two minds over the sale as I absolutely love this combo. However, I've decided that I would prefer two of the Traveler 123 cabs and a separate high-powered head, so up it goes for sale. Mint condition. Very lightly gigged. Comes with a custom fitted cover by "Hot Covers". At 1000 watts with an extension cab (600 watts without), this is probably the most powerful combo ever made. It sounds fantastic and fills the room with crystal clear tone: really high fidelity with tons of headroom. Due to the heavy duty 12" driver in this, the combo weighs a decent 56.8lbs (25.7kg). That said, it's an easy one person lift given both the compact size and positioning of the side handles. New, these are around £1400 now. Bass Direct has an ex-demo one for £1100. I'm asking £900. If you want it posted I'll courier it in the original box and split insured shipping (£20 each) with you. NB: I have replaced the large Markbass badge with the much smaller one, which I think looks less "shouty", but I have a new spare if you want it put back on -
I once had a bass, a hollowbody no less, delivered in a bin liner wrapped in a little bit of bubble wrap. Amazingly, it was in perfect condition but my heart missed a beat or two when it first arrived!

You can get through-body La Bella steel flats, but their nylons have a softer core and are fine for through-body stringing.
-
GHS Precision Flats are very nice: good tension (i.e. not too high but not too floppy) and smooth to the touch (I find some flats feel a bit rough). La Bella steel flats are available in lots of gauges and are always a good choice, but don't forget their nylon strings too. They come in four different types (black = darkest, white = brightest) and they are super smooth and a really nice tension. The standard gauge set sound huge, but they are very pliable.

What, this one? Yes, it is amazingly good.

I'm using the new Caron K1 combo. Did think about selling it as I would prefer the same rig as separates (Ninja head and TRV123 cab), but damn it's just too good to let go!

I bought an amp from Stuart. Perfectly painless transaction from start to finish with excellent comms throughout. Highly recommended

I’ve been experimenting with strings quite a lot recently and so have various sets available. All with very light use, cut for 3 over 2 headstocks. Newtone i) "Platinum” Nickel on round cores, 38" long - 50/70/90/110/130 - £20 ii) "Platinum” Nickel on round cores, 38" long - 45/65/85/105/130 - £20. These have been used through-body, but soft core means should be fine to put on a top load bass. iii) “Diamond” Nickel on round cores - 55/70/90/110/135, low tension set with tapered low B – 38.5” string length. G string was cut and fitted very briefly, but all others unused - £25 iv) NEW "Platinum" Steel roundwound - .130 gauge 37" length - £5 Fodera v) Nickel roundwounds, - 50/70/90/110/135 - 39.25" string length - £25. Used through-body but round core so pliable. Only on the bass for one day. La Bella vi) 2 x NEW La Bella nylon flats, one copper white and one white nylon - .043 gauge – XL scale length - £5 each or both for £8 Thanks for looking Gareth

Beta Test & Review D’Addario NYXL Bass Strings
franzbassist replied to D'AddarioUK's topic in Accessories and Misc
Hi chaps, I haven't read the whole thread, but might I ask about the tension of these? According to the D'Addario site they have a lower total set tension than XLs, Coated XLs and Half Rounds. Can anyone confirm that from a playing perspective? Thanks Gareth -
Markbass K1 Combo - the new K(ing) on the block?

Small badge works well. -
Have you asked Cool and Classic? They could contact their buyer o at least see if they still have it?

I once bought a used Wal from a shop in London. Took it to Pete at Wal HQ for a service and he said it had been nicked a few years earlier. I gave it straight back to him, and he gave me a brand new Wal as a thank you

I'm starting to wonder if they've actually made it taller, rather than narrower?

Have Ashdown changed the chassis the CTM30 lives in? Used to look like this: Now looks like this, which seems more like the old LB30? If it has changed, and it's not just my eyes playing tricks, anyone know how wide the new one is?
