1. Re-opened as per Mr Make-yer-bleedin-mind-up Clarky's request Lovely instrument BTW
2.
No Jon and rick, like mentioned before seems a bit like a tribute band
Remind me Marcus, how long has it been since the original lineup of Level 42 last toured?
3. my Shuker 5 my Wal my Tanglewood ABG a Shuker fretted 6 a Shuker fretless 5
4. It's not hyperbole, no. It certainly astonished me when I first heard it, and much of it still does.
5. When you say 'journeyman playing', I presume you're not including his astonishing fretless work with Paul Young, Gary Numan, etc etc etc. I know it's all a fair few years back but you can bet your boots he can still play the stuff and, my god, I wish my playing was as 'journeyman' as that..!
6.
Nope....mine is definitely the best
No, i think you'll find mine is, actually
7. My Shuker sounds gorgeous through my Shuttle and Nemesis cabs, but the best sound I have ever produced was when I gigged Kiwi's old Ken Smith fretted BSR5 through the Eden head/SWR Triad rig I had at that time. The Smith and the Eden were just made for each other and the tone was to die for. Our dearly missed friend OldGit was playing bari sax in the band back then and it was as much as I could do to stop him from swiping that Smith .
8.
Hiscox are awesome for customer service, and I'll say so to anyone who'll listen.
I will do the same for SKB. I bought a 6U rack case secondhand some years ago but it only had a couple of the cage-nuts so I couldn't mount all my gear in it. I did a quick google search to try to find a source somewhere in the UK, came up blank and so I emailed SKB direct in the USA. I explained that I'd bought the case 2ndhand and couldn't find an outlet for the nuts, and could they advise me of a UK dealer I could approach? I received the reply, "Oh yes, they can be a bit hard to come by, give me your postal address and I'll pop some in the mail for you with our compliments. Will two packs be enough?". Less than 3 days later they landed on my doormat, all the way from Orange county California. Absolutely stunning customer care, especially when you consider that I hadn't even bought the case new from them.

10. I hated mainstream 70s punk, the Pistols just annoyed me. TBH I didn't really sit up and take notice of anything in particular until I saw the Specials doing 'Gangsters' on TOTP.
11. If you can pick up that 765A for that sort of money, it'll be the performance bargain of the decade. My 765A was my main gigging and recording bass for quite a number of years, the sound was always superb and the neck was so good that I had Jon Shuker base my custom bass's neck profile on it. It's since been defretted and i've changed the 2 band eq for a 3 band with sweep mid, and it's even better than when it was fretted. I love it to bits. I've long been a huge fan of Yam basses, and instruments like this are why. To my mind they offer near unbeatable VFM.
12. I think this bears repeating:
Last time we had some grumping about John Hall on a personal level. Seemingly he's active on the forums, so I would ask people to keep maintain decorum with any responses. Ta!
Please keep a lid on personal comments guys. Thanks!
13.
Maybe he's indignant.
Maybe he has no idea of the concept of shooting onesself in the foot.
14. With my mod hat on, I would echo Gus's comments regarding restraint and thank everyone for their understanding on this issue. Taking my mod hat off, I'd like to add that if R***ies were the only basses left on the planet, I would give up and play kazoo instead. Or jew's harp, or triangle, or in fact any one of a million other instruments more personally rewarding to play than a R***y.
15. And on that note, I think this is probably as good a time as any to bid a cheerful good-night to this particular saga.
16.
What's VAT?
It stands for 'Vague Additions to the Total'.
17. When I said I'm not enjoying it, I meant because of the wheelbarrow thing. Bloody wheelbarrows, they really annoy me, sitting there all smug with their one bloody wheel, daring you to fill them with stuff. And the ball ones are even worse. And bloody yogurt too. Why o why o why? And so on.
18.
the best thing that can possibly happen now is that this saga comes to an end.
I thought it already had. Really not enjoying this one.
19. My Status developed an identical crack to that, it was dead easy to fix. I got some Titebond 3 wood glue, diluted it with a little water so it was runny, and flooded the crack with it -- the capilliary attraction draws it in. Clamped it shut and a few hours later hey presto.
20. God, I am so jealous of you guys. There are some beautiful basses on this thread. IMHO, the TRBs are possibly the finest factory basses money can buy.
21. What would I do with £1,000? Make a miniscule dent in my overdraft, I expect.
22.
Hi guys, been after a musicman for a while now
Really? You should have said
23. Godwin's Law fulfilled in only 34 posts, that's pretty good going "Not good enough I'm afraid, tell them too sue and be damned" is a very easy thing to say when you're not the site owner and you're not the one onto whose doormat a lawyer's letter would drop.

Decal or No

My bitsa P has a 70s Fender P decal on the headstock (of its Squier Jazz neck), i put it there because i just fancied it really. It looked better than blank wood and when i bought the decal off ebay there were no Fecker ones on there. Its never going to fool anyone who knows the first thing about basses anyway. If i ever sell the bass i'll probably sand the decal off first.
