1. I thought Scouting For Girls was a play on Baden-Powell's 'Scouting For Boys' book title? It is a dreadfully naff name, admittedly. I swear as much as the next docker, but I detest band names with profanity in them (that Anal C bunch being a a prime example). Trying faaar too hard to be controversial. "Look at us, we're being rude! *snigger*". Oh, grow up.
 2. As a side question -- a corollary to the original, if you will -- is there a genre of music that you used to hate, but have gradually grown to admire/like/love? Vice versa, do you now loathe something you used to adore? For myself: back in my late teens, I could not stand classical music. Or opera for that matter. Or anything even remotely C&W-ish. But nowadays, people like Shostakovich and Puccini and Brad Paisley are among the staples of my musical diet.
 3.
Blimey IBTL
I see no need for a lock unless it gets shouty? As long as everyone bears in mind that opinions are like arseholes (we all have one) and that mine is as valid as his, which is as valid as hers, which is as valid etc etc etc, it'll be fine. We're all grownups, right?
 4. Absolutely anything by the Stones. Everything they have ever done. I detest them with a passion and struggle to understand their appeal.
I hate modern-sounding production that pushes everything to 0db and keeps it there. Totally lacking in dynamics and very tiring to listen to.
Agreed 10000%.
 5.
I wonder what the Ashdown clone is like... I suppose if it bursts into flames it'll prove it's an authentic copy...
Genuine LOL
 6.
I can't believe that was 34 years ago......
Thirty four?? Great. Thank you for making me feel about 90 years old.
 7. Strange, Odd, Bizarre
 8. That bottom string is 8mm thick. They use thinner cables than that to berth supertankers.
 9.
do they mash the sound up?
Are there plenty of (Jersey) mids?
 10. I actually play quite lightly, thanks in part to my ramp. And I use nice soft nickel strings too. The only time I have had a blistering problem is when I got my callouses wet and softened.
 11.
The only other thing you can do, besides wiping down the strings after each practice, is to wash your hands before playing.
The last (only) time I washed my hands before a gig, it softened all my callouses and they wore away in minutes. Even after breaking out the superglue my picking fingers still blistered agonisingly. So, never done it since.
 12. This thing is the gift that keeps on giving. I've seen that set of pics so many times, it's starting to feel like an old friend. Or I suppose more accurately, a mysterious smell that won't go away.
 13. Good news!
 14.
I'm still traumatised from a drunk woman hitching her skirt up and sitting on my lap pre-gig! Much to the amusement of my wife!!! We went down well in front of a packed house but the shock! the horror!!!!
If that's the worst thing that ever happens to you at a gig, you'll be a very very lucky man
 15.
a neck like a banana.
Yellow with a squishy centre?
 16. If I was attending an audition, I would dress in whatever I found comfortable (although if I was going straight from work, it'd be work clothes). One of the questions I would ask them during the audition -- 'cos remember, an audition is as much about you testing the band as it is the band testing you -- would be about image and stage clothing. If I didn't like the sound of what I heard and there was no flexibility, I'd say a polite thanks-but-not-for-me either there and then or in emails afterwards.
 17.
Altenatively you could ask the person to stop ruining the gig for you nicely and/or get a steward to have a word.
How does one ruin a gig nicely?
 18. TB says FMIC MIJ RIP? BS IMO, but YMMV.
 19. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252854-new-cheap-marcus-miller-endorsed-range-of-basses-sire/ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/258828-nbd-sire-marcus-miller-v7-alder-4-awh-audio/
 20. One bass, plus knob twiddling, plus in my case a Line 6 Pod XT Live. With careful patch setting-up, I can get smooth Marcus slap, warm Jamerson woof, Bruce à la Badge, My Generation JAE, you name it. The versatility is incredible and I highly recommend it for live work if you need a wide tonal variety of the type you describe. I just wish I could play as well as these guys too
 21.
Here we go again - people who aren't allowed an opinion on here.
Here we go again - people who can't tell a difference of opinion from a denial of free speech.
 22.
Axl Rose?
Breathtaking arrogance, stupid whiny voice. You could almost forgive one without the other... however...
 23. There are many others that look just like it, but this is the only one that the OP's late mother helped him to buy. Are you seriously suggesting that none of your possessions have any sentimental value to you?
 24.
an 18", a 12" and a selectable HF horn in the same cab. I reckon that's the panacea speaker - covers everyone's frequency response needs (it'll handle dub thumps up to blistering high end slapping)
+1 to this general idea. Like an SWR Triad only even better. And lighter.
 25. My 2nd bass was a Columbus J. Don't know what the body was made of, but the bound/block neck was lovely and it sounded really good. I wired up a series/parallel switch and it got even better. Lent it to a 'friend' who promptly left town with it. Mike Hague, I hope it electrocuted you.
