1. Probably my favourite signature bass... Peavey B Quad 4 Brian Bromberg sig.
2. Here 'tis. 1964 Höfner Artist II, cost me 20 quid off my metalwork teacher. Plays like a dog but I could never sell it. Yes those are Strat knobs and the decal should be a plastic badge... but have you seen the prices of old Höf parts on fleabay lately??? 3. * Body £35 shipped [s]* Neck £30 shipped[/s] SOLD Part of a project that never came to fruition. The [s]neck was brand new from SX in the States, the[/s] body was purchased from a fellow basschatter but has never been used. They cost me more than this, so no offers please. The body is proper wood, not ply. No idea from which tree though, possibly alder. As you can see, it's been drilled out for an edge-mounted jack socket and a nice chunky bridge has been fitted. I'll leave these in place unless asked to remove them. I've also got the original white pickguard lurking somewhere still with the protective film on, if I can find it I'll chuck that in too. All the pickup cavity shielding was factory fitted. As it was never used, the finish is pretty much spotless apart from a couple of paint chips around pickguard fixing holes and one by the neck pocket.
4.
If your really "in this" compromise comes into the picture. If I restricted myself to only the music like, I'd be broke and bandless. Blue
Thankfully, the 99% of us who only do this for sh*ts and giggles rather than cash can afford to be a little choosier. 😉
5. INCLUDES P&P. Active pickups - £12 the pair No idea of their original parentage. Ibanez maybe? Both shells are neck-pickup sized.
6.
Back to back. It's pronounced doh-cee-doh.
Erm yes, I realise that. I'm not as thick as I look. Perhaps I should have added 'ps. JOKE' to my original post.
7.
then dos-si-dos your pardner.
And then the Spanish bloke says, "What the hell does 'two yes two' mean?".
8. Root. Five. Repeat. I jest of course. I sat in with OldGit's ceilidh band on occasion and it was a lot of fun.
9. Perhaps this should be in the "Ive just hacked off my ears with a rusty bread knife" thread, because listening to 20 seconds of this made me want to hack off my ears with a rusty bread knife. Bass can be a wonderful solo instrument (e.g. messrs Manring, Lawson, Hellborg etc), but this? Oish.
10.
Do you mean that the bass in the music was hitting the lamp fitting's resonant frequency?
What a great euphemism. "Hey babe... fancy popping upstairs to hit a resonant frequency..?"
11.
My heart sinks a little every time I walk into a practice studio & see any of those Ashdown ABM/MAG amps - I just find it impossible to get a good tone out of them.
^^ This, absolutely.
12. For me, a Precision 'Elite' will always mean this: But then, I liked the 80s
13. Sire V7 5-string is my current go-to gig bass. I'm hoping that I might soon have an opportunity for my first fretless gig in over 10 years
14. Christ. I really hope it works out ok for you. I would say "fingers crossed" but it seems a bit inappropriate under the circumstances
15. I've seen still photos of Nik recording the first album, and yes it was a Wal. I love his work. 15 Minutes is one of my favourite ever albums. The guy is criminally underrated.
16. Aye. And using proper tab too, none of this dot nonsense.
17. what sort of hedgehog is best for metal?
18. That hedgehog was influenced by The Beatles. Whether it knows it or not.
19.
Plus, IMHO, Dunlop flush mounted are better than Schallers which have an annoying habit of loosening themselves over time.
I've been using Schaller straplocks since 1986. I have never, ever had one loosen itself in all that time.
20.
The only drawback is you MUST have a strap with Dunlop straplocks to hand - you can't just use any old strap in an emergency!
When buying a bass, they would be an instant turn-off for me for precisely this reason.
21. And his name is Dunky, not 'hardly'.
22. I've always fancied an Aria Sinsonido, but I understand that they don't sound exactly sparkling through headphones.
23.
Not at all my area of experience but I must say that I'm sorely tempted by the new long scale Chowny's. Not that I need one, of course...
Likewise. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a 5 string version....
24.
+1. Happy Jack....you obviously did not even look/listen to a second of the clip.... but were in like a light with one/two of your own.
Yeah Jack. Curse you and your free invaluable advice!
