1. Yello there, While technically not one of my gigs per se, this is my first foray into the world of putting on gigs and promoting! I did pose some questions about this in a thread somewhere else but now we've sorted all the issues we finally have our first gig! So! Here's the schpeel... *** CAKE? PROMOTIONS OXFORD'S OPENING NIGHT! *** FRIDAY 22ND JANUARY @ JERICHO TAVERN, OXFORD Headline comes from Newbury's finest - Relik (http://www.myspace.com/relikofficial) . They're a good time, Foo Fighters esque rock n roll band. Anthemic radio rock combined with a brilliant live show makes these guys not one to miss out on. Main Support comes from Truck fest favourites Dial F For FRANKENSTEIN (http://www.myspace.com/dialfforfrankenstein). Their explosive post-hardcore rumblings have deservedly generated a big buzz around them, and their live show does nothing but back up the hype. Great stuff. Shattered Dreams (http://www.myspace.com/shattereddreams18) fill the next slot with frontwoman Steph Branch's throaty crooning over a pop punk soundscape. Brings to mind "Animal Boy" era Ramones, really cool band. And finally, opening the show are Not Just Business (http://www.myspace.com/justbusiness10) . Sporting members of local power pop veterans Disclosure and Stereo Asylum, NJB's sugar-coma inducing pop punk makes it's debut at the Tavern. Tickets are £4 for basschat members! Just PM me if you wanna come (that way you'll get the tickets at the cheaper price. They're more on the door) Anyhoo hope to see some of you guys down there . We've put alot of time and love into starting this little venture and we're really pleased this is finally coming to fruition. Oh yeah and if you need some more convincing they'll be free cake on the night too, since we're Cake? Promotions Oxford our myspace is www.myspace.com/cakepromotionsoxford

5.
any more details Bill? I've been looking for a free "jam-a-long" drummer site for a few days as it goes, but come up nix.. so anymore leads would be good. thanks W
It's not free but it's not too badly priced IIRC.
I bought it but I never use it. I got it to use with Garageband but it is pretty crap with GB. I think that it works a lot better with other software.
Works well with Cubase That said apparently there are much better available. Can't remember the name, I'll get back to you!
6. Owned a BB750 and currently a 400+ - no reliability issues? The BB in particular was a workhorse...
7. dimensions? EDIT : Found them. I know this is really picky, but is there anything you could compare it with to give me a sense of size? Like "knee hight" or the like
8. Braaaaains!
9. You mentioned you liked the natural sound of your bass coming through, so it might be worth looking at SWR as well, some consider them very "sterile" cabs.
10. Now THAT is a Fodera I can get along with , usually not a fan but that body shape + wood combo is lovely

13. Picked up a gorgeous Spector from Gary today. Bass is in flawless shape and transaction was easy and pleasant. Had a nice drink with him in starbucks too Top bloke, would not hesitate to recommend. Ash
14. This is a stunning bass, and IMO 35" is the only way to go for 5ers. Lovely instrument you got there
15. "Made entirely of solid woods" ?
16.
Bath tub curve?
My thoughts exactly...

21.
He seems to always use Warwick Stage 1 basses. Although recently he's started using the StarBass II for acoustic stuff. Great player and sound
Fairly even between the warwicks and spectors when I saw em this month
22. Any sound clips?
23. Due to cetera this is now back on as a sale! It was valued at £1200-1300 but I'll do £1000 + postage. Ta! Ash
