1. Hello again, It appears I've been the victim of the old and entirely aggravating disappearing buyer syndrome, so, that combined with the fact that the cheque my employer gave me for wages owed going all the way back to September bounced, again, my '78 precision is up. I'm in serious need of funds. It's the standard maple neck, black PG, sunburst type. Sounds lovely. It has been relic'd by the previous owner however I always seem to get good feedback about that, I certainly like how it looks and everyone else seems to too . It has character. I can't really add much more to this, it's a P bass! It's been set up recently and is lovely. Price is £1000+PnP. I'd prefer buyer to collect though, I'm happy to meet too! I'm all over the country with work and stuff so I'm sure we could arrange something. Thanks! Ash
2. Hello there, I'll update with photos and the like over the weekend, but I just thought I'd get the post out there. I'm looking to part with my Pedulla Rapture. It's the single soapbar version, 5 strings with 19mm string spacing. Rosewood board and dark cherry burst finish. It's one of the earlier models IIRC and has a pretty cool story to go along with it too - IIRC it got brought in with the first batch Mansons got over here, and was transferred over to the Bass Cellar, who then lost it and couldn't find it for a number of years! Anyhoo, when I bought this, while it had been lost for a number of years I am the first owner. I'm looking to move it on since it seems a shame for it not to be played. It's a wonderful bass, the problem is I'm just using my MTD more. Anyhoo, this is a feeler as things stand. I'd be looking in the £850ish region for it, though happy to entertain offers. That would include official hardcase + owners manual + truss rod adjusters etc. Might be interested in a trade, but I'd be more interested in trade + cash to you to trade up as it were. I'm looking Spector, Sadowsky etc at the mo, and am only interested in 35" scale on 5 strings or longer. Thanks Ash
3.
Drummer driving me nuts
Simple, just remove the steering wheel attached to your crotch. Problem solved I feel dirty.
4. Just out of interest does anyone know the name of this song, it's catchy as hell and i want to learn that line!
5. However epic this vid is, frankly the amount of times it's been posted we might as well just make it a sticky
6. I'm seriously gassing for a Spector Euro4LX with the PJ config. Question is should I part with my '78 Fender P and Pedulla Rapture to fund it?
7. Soooo... Long story short, been ODing on Alice in Chains recently and been catching as many of their shows in the UK as possible, and I just can't get over how good Mike Inez's spector sounds. It's colossal! I've been lucky enough to play spectors before so I know I like how they play etc etc, but I am now seriously considering moving on a load of my basses (not the MTD, never letting that thing go, love it to pieces ) plus a load of other things to fund one. So yeah...just show me some Spector porn . And also talk me out of selling off my Pedulla and '78 P for this (they both are secondary to other basses so don't get used as much as they should). I'm eyeing a Euro4LX with a PJ config. Edit for spelling.
8. Awesome idea! I must take some decent photos of mine. I've got a band practice on saturday so I'll take some pics then The fund for a second 410 has started
9. Holy moly! Thanks for the heads up, that's gorgeous! Sound clips available?
10. They look gorgeous, but as with most things from MM will be horrendously overpriced
11. Also would like to add I am in Leeds/Liverpool and Manchester around xmas so I will be further north as well . I'm also working in Brum during the week things can be arranged
12. If it's any help apparently he recorded the black album with a vintage Ampeg 810 and SVT for his main tone, supplemented by an Ampeg 1x18 for lows, and a Marshall guitar cabinet with a Trace Elliot head for the mid/highs. (plus the alembics obviously ) Common consensus with our american counterparts over at TB seems to say jazz bass, sansamp and a pick though. Hope that helps. Tbh, I think "Jazz bass, sansamp, pick" is probably your best option
13. I thought the majority of SVT pros had tubes in em somewhere, with the SVT II pro being all tube? I guess the pros have more scope for fine tuning your tone than the VR, though some people like as little knobs as possible and an awesome tone from just plugging in and playing - minimum messing needed. Pros are also much much cheaper if you go second hand (can't comment on new prices). VR's look awesome though, however you need the matching 810 . As for the racking thing, don't particularly see how one is better over the other. As long as you don't just throw your head around it shouldn't be a problem. Aesthetic thing I guess.
14.
Well it's the exact head I bought from ashevans09 so his reply should answer most of your questions. It was supposedly owned by the guy from As I Lay Dying and I bet it seen it's fair share of use. But like all Mesa gear it's built bomb proof and is absolutely fully functional.
This one was mine? Of course!
15.
I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing selling this bass. I've just been playing it and it's very nice. It sounds so even. I might have to find another way to fund my Grail.
Aaaaaah! What's the grail?! Aaaaah! Just give us a clue - vintage or modern?
16.
Why would you need to? With a step down transformer you don't need to spend any more money!
I used to do this with my old BB750 too. It was an american model of As I Lay Dying fame. Anyhoo apart from the fact the step down transformer cost me a hell of a lot of money (around £250 mark IIRC) it weighed a bloody tonne and the power it required used to blow venue fuses on a regular basis. Part of the reason I got rid of mine. I loved the tone but couldn't be arsed with it anymore. It paired wonderfully with my Epifanis. Good times . Anyhoo, the internal modification can most definitely be done. I found two techs who were willing to do it. I just can't for the life of me find their details. But that said, it can be done, and IIRC the quote I got given was for around £300-400. So a bit more than the transformer but worth it to avoid hassle. That aside though we haven't even established if it would require this yet would we? To the OP - would this mod need doing? Wonderful wonderful amp, whoever gets this won't be sorry Anyhoo, after giving into temptation and watching the entire Back to the Future series in a row (damn you sky anytime!) I really should go to bed. Work in 4 hours, woop! night x
17.
"Clean up the live sound" is a bit vague- maybe you'd be better off trying to quantify what you're not happy with in a bit more detail so you can target that specifically, rather than adding extra bits of kit?
TBH I'm happy with how things sound live for me, I can't really place it, it was just how geetar and bass melded together so well...hmm...probably leave it to the guitarists for the time being...
18. Just out of sheer curiousity, what's the holy grail? Oh yeah, have a bump. Pretty bass
19. WANT WANT WANT! My 535 is incredible. Whoever gets this is going to need a new pair of pants. Seriously.
20. Hmm, comments about making a bad rig sound better... Cantrell was using hand wires bogners and the like, so can't really be considered bad, yet it still made it sound incredible. What hit me more was just the bell like precision of the sound, it was so clear. Is that more down to the phase realignment? I'm just debating the worth of shoving one into my rig (Mesa 400+ into Matamp 410 + Ampeg 410) to try and clean up the live sound a bit.
21. What was the track in the OP called?
