1. As far as decals go I had a no name bass with a "Fecker Pretender Bass" decal. From a distance it looked exactly like Fender Precision Bass as the fonts were correct. I got it off eBay but pretty sure Rothko and Frost can do anything you like. I am pretty sure this is the the very same bass put up F/S again. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/56828-for-sale-fecker-pretender-sx-precision-bass-heavily-upgraded/
 2.
I suppose in the spirit of a BC Bass bash then yes , we should be a BC get together , If however there is someone who has the potential of some quality input then I don't see why not , just not a free for all I guess.
OK No problem.
 3.
As Stevie said have a go at it yourself, you've nothing to loose. Failing that I've used RMJ in the past and can recommend them. A bit closer to you as well.
That's good to know of someone "Up North" that does recones Whizzy.
 4. If you decide on a re-cone, Wembley Loudspeakers are your friend. Don't know anyone in the NW that does re-coning.
 5. Now it's definitely on, i'll contact Drew and see if he can get any of his suppliers along. I'll be coming and I'll sort out what I'm bringing. Are we limiting it to just BassChat members?
 6.
https://www.thomann....ef=search_prv_7
Cheers Owen.
I can take some pics of it and do some measurments if you want. Cheers, Ewan
That would be great Ewan. Much appreciated.
 7.
The Fusion bags have a different strap set up, I'm also 5' 6" and I don't have any issues with wearing mine at all. I can't comment on how long it'll last as I only really play at home for the moment, so they've not exactly been battered, but it does sound to me that the Mono bags might not be all that hard wearing, I've a few others in very shabby condition over the years to. Gator do a semi rigid bag these days, there's the Gruv Gear one, can't recall the name and there's always the Protec Contego too. Plenty of choice out there. If you're ever in South London, you're more than welcome to check my bags out (that sounds weird, but you know what I mean). Eude
Are they Fusion F1's you have Eude? From memory these are pretty deep almost the same as a hard case. Having checked, they have been discontinued and Fusion are selling remaining stock at a discount.
 8. Thanks for all the comments guys. Really appreciated. I don't really want a semi-rigid bag. The basses are all in either SKB or Hiscox cases at home and I do have a Tribal Planet semi - rigid jobie but it is deeper than any of my hard cases. If my stuff was getting carted around in a Van, or the hold of a plane, I have that covered with the hard cases. Hard cases are a pain to get a bass out of if you are playing a pub with little space. The reason I was initially attracted to the Mono Bass Sleeve is it is quite thin and the top loading is a real bonus. Easy to get a bass in and out of in a confined space and easy to store away when playing. So I am after something along those lines and just wanted to see if there were any suitable alternatives. The Protec Contego doesn't look that deep and looks like it might be a contender. Can't find the external depth anywhere on t'internet.
 9.
Are you going to need to carry it on your back for any distance? A lot of the semi-rigid cases like the Mono ones are only marginally smaller and lighter than a Hiscox case.
Unlikely going to carry any distance except for 1 Gig a year that I use Manchester's Metrolink to get to. I think this is why the Mono Bass Sleeve is so actractive as it is definately smaller/thinner/lighter that an ABS case, and this what I am after
Cripes! Just had a look at some of the ones mentioned above and they seem amazingly expensive - even compared to hard cases.
They aren't cheap, that's for sure but it would cost about £2K to replace either of my ACG's.
 10. And here it is. Same amp as yours. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/293794-markbass-cmd121p-change-voltage-from-europe-to-uk/page__p__3165988__hl__voltage__fromsearch__1#entry3165988 I woudn't risk it without confirmation that it is the right thing to do. A step-down transformer would be my choice .
 11. There is nothing special about the JB Combo, it is just a Little Mark III head, so anything that applies to the head also applies to this combo. That said MarkBass are pretty adament that their gear has a power supply particular to the country it was sold in. In your case US 110V. Now the warning is out of the way there is another recent posting on here about the same subject and it appears there are jumpers inside the amp that can be changed to alter voltage. Depends if you want to risk it. Other solution, contact Real Electronics in Sheffield. They are the official MB repairers and they should e able to advise.
 12. I've decided that carting basses around in hard cases is a pain, so am looking for a "take the bass of the day" Gig Bag. I do tend to rotate my hoard depending on the Gig so it will just be carrying whatever I am using that Gig. All my basses are suitably protected at home and I find hard cases seem to move around a lot when travelling to a Gig. I normally take the K/B player and sometimes guitarist with me so usually the bass is perched on top of speakers/amps etc. and tends to slide around a bit.. I have got a couple already but don't consider them up to the job of protecting either of my ACG's or Carvin in transit. I am looking for something that:

Is light
Well Made
Protects well
Not too bulky
A couple of pockets for Strap/Tuner/Lead. Not looking at carrying an Amp in it.
I am drawn to the Mono Bass Sleeve as it looks to fit all requirements but wonder if the BassChat massive has any better ideas.
 13.
Yes. I already have an order in, and an incoming pro decal. I thought I'd give it a go, but 'tis not to be. I do want a pro-looking job.
Rothko and Frost by any chance? They do a superb job exactly how you want it.
 14. It's Northwest Bands, Gigs and Info. https://www.facebook.com/groups/northwestbands/
 15. There is a Mex one for sale on a Facebook site in the North West.
 16.
i hear the Audi a1 has a scoda engine
Audi and Skoda is part of VW/Audi so you get the same engine, floorpan, gearbox etc. in either a VW, Audi, Skoda or SEAT. Just different badging.
 17. I think there is a subtle difference in the Fender/Squire and Gibson/Epiphone scenarios. Fender set up Squire as a their budget line whereas Gibson bought Epiphone, an existing manufacturer, who made stunning instruments in the USA and made it their budget line by moving the production to Korea.
 18. Looks like one of these. I would try and find the Neutrik or Switchcraft version though. 19. Think it was Transferwise. The thing is with money transfer services they change so quickly so you need to check them all out and even play one against the other. I'll check who I have used in the past and update the thread later. Edit. I've used both CurrencyChange and FC Exchange in the past. These were for sizeable amounts and I just used who was best on the day. Depending on the amount you are sending there may be better excahnge rates on offer.
 20.
Will this do parallel/series switching like a Ray?
Yes it will. I did the mod on my basic and it is pretty straightforward. The pickups are manufactured by Delano and the wiring diagram is available on t'interweb.
 21.
That too is another good point. Do you do counselling?
I do, but only Bass related counselling and am probably just up the road from you.
 22. Or you could keep the 2 good drivers as spares.
 23. Good move thinking of going for the Zoot 4x10 that's F/S. You would get some money back selling the 2 good drivers and bare cab seperate or the whole lot as a "fixer upper".
 24. Wembley Loudspeakers will repair your speakers and it would be the cheapest option for your 4 ohm single cab. I've got a couple of Zoot cabs, the forerunner of Purple Chili, and I'd never sell them. Mike uses a special lightweight ply in his cabs and they are some of the lightest on the market. Amp wise I'll leave that to others as I am a committed MarkBass fan and would naturally suggest one. That said I would still have my Eden WT550 but for the weight.
 25. Mike Walsh of Zoot fame has been building quite a few custom necks of late. Worth dropping him a line.
