1.
Sent the pic to Adrian M who commented that the quality of stuff from China can be variable. After inspecting and fiddling around with this jack socket, I'd say that the plug-hole feels a bit on the large side, making it possible for the plug to go in at enough of an angle to de-form the contact as pictured - especially if it was slightly bent in the first place. This would explain the fact that everything worked fine for the first 3 weeks. Hadn't spotted that 'iffy' soldered joint btw!!
I am staggered that a bass of that quality/price is being fitted with a cheap and nasty Chinese jack. Unbelievable. I would change that for a Switchcraft or Neutrik one straight away.
 2.
Another option that I've read good things about: http://www.haeussel....index.php?id=22
Must admit I really want to try Haessel pickups Pete. They really do intrigue me.
 3.
What did surprise me was the serial number which starts ICS16....This would appear to indicate made in Indonesia by Cort in 2016. I thought these were a discontinued line?
Mine is an ICS14 serial number and I must admit I really like it. If they are/were made by Cort, that could explain why they are so well made and get consistently good feedback. Swapped the original BBOT bridge for a Wilkinson Vintage one. Pots for CTS. Switchcraft Jack and changed the capacitor to a 0.1uf for further vintage roll off and with flats on it is a really nice bass. Took it to rehearsal last night and it sounded superb and plays really well.
 4.
Might be a daft newbie question, but what is the benefit of two channels?
You can set each channel up with different settings and use a footswitch to change between them. Or if you use electric and upright you have a channel for each.
 5.
Looks like a development of the Multiamp? Possibly too new for one to come to the SW Bash Kevin?
A cross between the MultiAmp and an LMK. The 2 channels will go down well.
 6.
Depends whether you're looking to satisfy your musical creativity by playing technical but obscure masterpieces or looking to get a buzz out of playing gigs to people who are enjoying themselves dancing to popular songs. If you're dead against playing worn out covers then don't do it. Myself, I'd rather play three hours flat of standard fare to a packed pub than 40 minutes of technically brilliant fag break inducing music to one man and his dog, but I'm cheap and have no principles and love making music for the enjoyment of other folk.
Amen to that. I hate most of the numbers we play but having a crowd dancing and singing along is the best fix ever.
 7. I used one of these when I had a WT550. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/rugged-case-with-foam-interior-n78gg You can probably get the same thing on eBay for less.
 8.
I use the bargain-basement alternative to Luminlay - some glow stickers (sold for putting on light switches) chopped up into strips narrow enough to not get in the way of my fingers
I did this with all my Bass Collection basses but used a hole punch, the type for punching holes in paper, to get them nice and round and jobs a good un.
 9.
I put the Luminlay in my fretless and they work fine. I seem to have lost the blue led mini torch, but find the torch light on my phone does the same job. Failing that, the leds on a Genz-Benz Shuttle do the same.
I got a pack of these off eBay and have one in each case and a couple spare as I lost my mini torch(es) as well. http://www.ebay.co.u...Pw5fqzRfuwdBmfQ
 10. The R&F ones are nowhere near as good as Luminlay. I have 2 ACG's with genuine Luminlay and they are great. Hold a charge for a 45 min set easily and will still have some residual light after that. the first time I used them after the first set the lights were switched off and you could still see them glow. I have another bass that I had R&F ones put on and then had them changed to the genuine article as they were useless.
 11. I'd send it back. You could spend time trying to find the fault and get nowhere and then if you have to send it back you could have invalidated any warranty due to messing with it.
 12. Have you tried emailing EMG? I have found them pretty good at replying and quite helpful.
 13. Surprised this is still here. The Swiss Army Knife of basses and probably the best value for money out there. I played a US and a Tribute side by side and could tell much difference.
 14. Probably my all time favourite amp. So much natural tone and virtually bomb proof. You should be able to make some rack ears pretty simply. If you search eBay for Aluminium Angle Brackets and find some close to the size you need, ie width of case - width of amp divided by 2 and you should be able to cobble some together. Aluminium is pretty eaty to cut/file down. I did this with a MarkBass amp but managed to find brackets that weren't pre-drilled. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38mm-Aluminium-HD-Angle-Corner-Shelf-Brackets-Strong-Will-Not-Rot-or-Rust-/111928546549?var=410879744175&hash=item1a0f7614f5:m:mEW45s55juIDjNL7nL912Ew Other option is if you have a steel fabricators handy, they should be able to sort you out.
 15. Drew at The Great British Bass Lounge seems to have a Warwick, so at least you get to try one before buying Steve. Just chuck the Hartke TX600 into the mix.
 16.
I had a crack on one of Alan Cringean's glorious creations at the Bass Show last year which has a completely flat board, zero radius, and that was ridiculously easy to play. Obviously they're high class kit so other factors may be involved, but it instantly made me feel like a better player... unfortunately the wife didn't believe me! One day though... one day...
Alan is a massive fan of zero radius boards, (hence mine), and I find it surprising that other builders have not thought about it. Less work to do in preparing the fingerboard as radiusing is pretty labour intensive.
 17. My ACG's have totally flat fingerboards and are ace to play.
 18.
I was going to bid on this, but then I read the seller's additional comments just before the Q and A section. Don't think I'll bother now.
Don't see an issue Steve. He is being asked for a BIN price or a deal outside eBay and wants to let the auction run.
 19. Drop Alan Cringean, ACG Basses, a message. He is Skelf on BassChat or get him via his website. He sends basses to the US all the time and also imports wood from all over the world, so he should be able to advise.
 20. Mike Wlsh did the "What do you want in a Bass Amp" when he produced the Purple Chilli amp.
 21. Dave Lunt is your man but Valve Amps are his thing.
 22.
They are currently at my mates house and I can't get hold of him!!!
Have you managed to track your mate down yet Dunc? Pal of mine is still interested.
 23.
There was a week between being offered two gigs and it being cut down to one. Whilst I know the set, they have a habit of adding a few new tunes which I duly learn and then have to rehearse with them also. If I am lucky enough to be offered further gigs again from them, I shall agree with the caveat that those gigs means just that. Thanks for the feedback.
Sounds like the best plan. We have had a similar problem with our female singer. She arranged for our Dep to do a gig for her as she had booked a holiday, (after the gig was in the diary). She arranged for our dep to cover for her, something I was a bit pissed about as it is a Wedding for a personal friend and she didn't mention it until the arrangements had been made. She announced at the last gig she was now available having cancelled the holiday but it was up to us if we stayed with the dep. We are staying with the dep as that was the arrangement she had made.
 24.
I had a G&L L2000 Tribute for a while, nice bass, but I couldn't get a sound I was happy with while it was in passive mode.
If you look at the circuit diagram for the G&L L series there is no active tone circuitry at all. The Bass/Treble controls are actually just passive, just like a P Bass or Jazz and the active part is actually just a line driver, or amplifier that is used to boost the signal when engaged.
