1. Thanks for all the replies. I think that the Classic 50s Lacquer has got my attention. Some thinking and negotiations with the keeper of the purse now need to take place.
2. What is the difference (apart from relicing) between the Mex 50s Road Worn and the Mex 50s Classic Precision. I’m sure there is great wisdom amongst forumites on this issue.
3. Ok my friend. I misunderstood and stand corrected.👍
4. I would have done exactly the same. Why go to all the trouble of making it look exactly like a vintage Fender and then miss out a vital feature like the decal on the headstock. This is a cracking bass. Mark is superb at producing these instruments for ordinary mortals who want the look and sound but can’t afford genuine prices.
5. Limelight basses did come with Fender logos if the buyer requested it. Ask Mark at Classic and Cool guitars for the current position regarding this. It has the Limelight serial number on the back. They are excellent basses but I have no idea why you think a Limelight logo'd bass would be worth more than an original pre-cbs Fender.
6. It's a Limelight.
7. Ah irony. Ok, you are forgiven!👍
8. What a ridiculous statement. As has been said numerous times on these forums - beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
9. I would absolutely love this. What a beautiful bass. If by any quirk of fate I find myself in funds I'll be back. Have a free bump!
10. Thanks Paulo!
11. I need to buy a bridge and was considering the Hipshot A style. I see that it comes in aluminium (cheaper) or brass. Looking for advice in helping me to make my choice.
12. Thank you gentlemen. Much appreciated.
13. My 2006 AVRI Precision is buzzing or perhaps humming would be a better description. When I touch the strings or one of the knobs the humming stops. However, when I touch a pole piece the humming gets louder. Any advice good people?
14. So sad to hear this news.
15. The need for the change to the new software is perfectly understandable. It will just take a wee while for it all to calm down and for everyone to be familiar with all the features of the site. People, by nature, don’t like change but it is one of the most inevitable things in life. Well done to all those who spent many, many hours to make the changeover. Everything will be fine!
16.
Maybe I take out a side ad with Google: 'Hot Russian Babe wants to buy your pickup'? That should get his attention...
17. Thank goodness for that. Someone is getting a cracking bass!
18. I wonder how 2008 - 2016 compares to the new American Professional Series. Anyone?
19. Thanks everyone for all your help.
20. What pickup would give me the closest to old school/Motown?
21. Got a couple of questions: What is the difference between a Jake and a Jake L? Is it correct to assume a 34" scale unless otherwise stated? Thanks.
22. I really fail to understand why this is still here at this price. When late 70s precisions go for what they do it makes no sense that this bass is still here. 82 - 85 basses are marvellous. They were built alongside the first reissues which command high prices. Quality had returned to Fender. These basses are superb and, I am sure, will be highly sought after as people realise this was a great period for bass building at the Fullerton factory. No more massively heavy late 70s building. Please someone buy it and put me out of my misery.
23.
Corner of the eye jobbie!!
Sight reading is such a nuisance!😎
