Got a couple of questions: What is the difference between a Jake and a Jake L? Is it correct to assume a 34" scale unless otherwise stated? Thanks.

I really fail to understand why this is still here at this price. When late 70s precisions go for what they do it makes no sense that this bass is still here. 82 - 85 basses are marvellous. They were built alongside the first reissues which command high prices. Quality had returned to Fender. These basses are superb and, I am sure, will be highly sought after as people realise this was a great period for bass building at the Fullerton factory. No more massively heavy late 70s building. Please someone buy it and put me out of my misery.
An 80s L2000 has the three bolt micro tilt neck joint, a new one will have a six bolt neck. Most 80s models will have a metal control plate and black powder coated bridge. Necks vary considerably as customers buying direct can specify the profile and nut width. I've played a huge, deep '81 with a 45mm nut and others that were jazz-like. G&L have limited edition "Custom Creations" which are essentially limited run models. All G&L USA direct orders are in a sense custom shop instruments as the buyer chooses their spec from the available options.
Many thanks. What a great reply!

I have a question for G&L fans. How does a mid to late 80s L2000 compare to the 2017 offering from G&L? Also, do G&L have a custom shop as I have seen an L2000 on eBay being described as a custom shop instrument?

If a well meaning friend or relative increases your budget for your birthday you might consider a pre-owned Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout. Huge sound for a 1x12 300 watt combo.

Lulu is a very talented singer. I just wish that she wouldn't put on an accent when she speaks. Be proud of your roots and where you come from.

I have for sale a Cort A4 Custom SP. This bass is in mint unmarked condition. The A4 Artisan Custom SP is the very best that Cort has to offer. The spalted maple top and back are beautiful. It is a pleasant addition to have the spalted maple on the back as well as the front as exotic woods are often on the top only. The Bartolini MK4 pups and MK1 preamp along with the Hipshot Transtone Bridge and Tuners are top quality components. The neck thru design is also a feature of much more expensive instruments. The neck itself is a joy to play with a large variety of tones to match. The bass is fitted with matching Schaller strap lock buttons and the originals are included in the sale. The bass also comes with a Cort hardcase. I am asking £575 including delivery to the UK which is a huge saving on the new price. I am not looking for any trades. Specification:- Model: Cort Artisan A4 Custom SP Body Wood(s): Spalted maple top & back, mahogany core. Colour/Finish: Natural, gloss lacquer Neck: 5 piece maple/wenge through- neck, gloss finish. Scale: 34" Fingerboard: Rosewood, 24 Medium frets, offset abalone dot position inlays. Electronics: 2X Bartolini custom MK4CBC soapbar (dual-coil) pickups. Bartolinin 3 band active EQ. Controls for volume/blend/bass, mid & treble cut/boost. Switch for active/passive Hardware: Black Nickel (gunmetal) finish Hipshot 'TransTone' bridge. Hipshot ultra lite tuners. Weight: Just under 9lbs/4kgs Case: Cort Hardcase. I'm resurrecting this thread to find out if anyone knows what happened to Cotswold Bass Guitars. David was a top guy to deal with and I just hope he is ok.

Just sold my 'Nate Mendel' precision to John. It was a nice and easy transaction. John was a real pleasure to deal with and is a thorough gent. I can't recommend him highly enough.
