  1. This made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Obviously Mavis Staples liked it as well.
  2. It absolutely astounds me that this is still here. If I was a Jazz player it would be gone. My '84' precision is a marvellous bass. It is indeed a shame that bass players haven't yet caught on to how superb the 82 - 85 Fenders are. Don't believe the nonsense you hear about quality etc. These basses were built alongside the first reissues that command high prices. This bass in this condition is a huge bargain.
  3. Where and when are you playing tomorrow? I'm in Aberdeen and may try and catch the gig.
  4. What a tasty Precision. Beautiful!
  5. Very nice indeed. The relicing is quite superb!
  6. That is quite uncanny. That is very nearly what I have ordered except I have gone for the very light relic with a candy apple red finish. Great minds think alike!
  7. This thread is not helping with my waiting period! 😀
  8. Absolutely. You can never be too careful. I once bought a bass from a well-known purveyor of vintage instruments only to find that the neck and body didn’t begin life together.
  9. Ah. Now it makes sense. Thankyou.👍
  10. Waiting time at the moment is roughly 12 weeks.
  11. Deposit is usually £200.
  12. You are in the wrong forum my friend. Get a moderator to shift this to 'amps and cabs for sale'. This forum is for basses only. Good luck with the sale!
  13. Thanks for the kind comments gents. She is a beauty! I didn’t go as far as drilling the wall. You can see the legs of the Hercules stand which I used. The wall does make a good background as it makes the bass stand out.
  14. The official Fender colour is ivory.
  15. I hope you’re wearing as well as the Precision Andy!😂
  16. The precise date is February 14th 1984. That’s what is stamped on the heel of the neck.
  17. I have for sale my Fender USA Standard Precision from 1984. The Bass is all-original apart from a sprague orange drop capacitor being fitted. The original capacitor is included. The bass is almost unmarked apart from a very small mark in the lacquer on the top horn which I have tried to photograph next to a one pence coin. This mark has been on the bass since I got it about 8 years ago and has not got any worse. The condition is superb considering this is a 34 year old bass. The bass will come in a non-original Fender G&G Deluxe Brown Tolex Case. The bass is currently strung with Thomastik Flatwounds. I had to think twice about putting this bass up for sale as I have grown rather fond of it but I have one too many precisions so a choice had to be made. The asking price of £1200 includes delivery to the UK. I am not looking to trade. It is sale only I’m afraid.
  18. I've just ordered one. The wait begins!
  19. I am about to join the Limelight fraternity. I have just ordered a ‘57’ Precision in candy apple red with gold anodised pickguard. The waiting now begins.😎
  20. We can’t all be perfect!😂😂😂
  21. I’m not judging. I would just rather not be subject to the same sort of experiences which have been expressed here. I can now perfectly understand why sellers want a collection in person only. I would not want someone selling me a bass to be put in an awkward position with a courier. By buying from a shop I would have some sort of comeback without having an awkward situation with a fellow bass chatter. The good thing about this forum is that through the experience of the members one can learn the best way forward.
  22. You must be kidding after the horror stories on this thread. Private deals are definitely not a good way to go if couriers are involved.
  23. You're absolutely right. I'll stick to buying from the shops.
