1. The Warwick I got from Reverb Stockton was set up pretty well, I just had to do a few tweaks when I got it home. I also tried a few Music Man and a Schecter and they were pretty good too. There are shops out there who are less bothered about the set up. They get 'em out of the box tune them (roughtly) and hand 'em on the wall.
2. A guy I know has a Ric tuned funny, DADC I think
3. I love the NT thumbs, I didn't realise the body was so different on the BO. If I had tried a Warwick sooner I would have bought one years ago. Nice Brace though I must say.
4. Ha, I used to live in Malvern, then Worcester. There is a place at 53 Upper Tything called Music City and The Guitar Shop at 8 Friar Street Worcester. I was told that the guy that owns The Guitar Shop used to own Music City, if they can't do anything they will know someone who can.
5. I tried a set of Elixir's we had knocking around in a drawer, on my Warwick and found that the ball ends didn't fit in the tail piece (2 piece bridge). When I got them in I couldn't get them out without losening the tail. It may have been a one off but I'm not perpared to pay for a set only to find they dont fit (the ones I have were on my wife's Ibanez she got last year).
6. A MIM P neck with machine heads went on Ebay for around £100 not long back. You could always get a Mighty Mite like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Lic-Precision...id=p3286.c0.m14
7.
Well, I saw this and wondered... Reduced: 69% of original size [ 732 x 478 ] - Click to view full image Reduced: 91% of original size [ 560 x 375 ] - Click to view full image ...how do I get hold of one of those? It's on the way! It's a Lakland Darryl Jones with Adam Clayton mods and some of my own btw. This post has been edited by Sean: Yesterday, 11:14 PM -------------------- Lakland/Markbass/Bergantino Amy & the Aviators - Fabulous Function Band
I don't know why he didn't just buy a Squier VMJ, he would have saved himself some money and could have bought Dave a new hat.
8. I have a gas soldering iron and have never had any probs filling it. I can't remember what make it is but I use the little tin of gas that came with it. I remember having a clipper lighter in the days when I used to smoke. It was always a bit hit and miss filling it. I can't find the iron at th mo so can't tell you the make, but it fills the same as a clipper
9. Do you have a railcard of any kind? This might be a long shot but how long is it until you travel? If you book in advance you get a fair bit off the ticket price. My wife says it can be up to 2/3 off and she has done this quite often. You could then buy 2 tickets and reserve the seats and keep your bass int the empty seat.
10. My dream bass was the Dolphin, ever since I saw one in a bass mag years ago, I wanted one. After buying it all my GAS has gone. I've put together a bitsa jazz as a spare/rough venue bass. Hey JL is that a Toffee's shirt?
11. It all depends on what you have to spend or if you can get credit.
12. What colour is the GB7 tuner and would you be up for selling it?
13. I saw the Buzzcocks recently, they were great. Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle were the only original members but they hadn't lost it. One of my fave punk bassists is Klause Flouride from the Dead Kennedys.
14.
Rubbish! dennis waterman wrote the theme tune sang the theme tune and played every instrument on it.hahahhaha.Bergerac is an awesome theme tune.
Infact it was Dennis Waterman's (ex)wife Patricia and Gerard Kenny who wrote the theme tune. Cracking tune though.
15. Thank's for the feedback, we probably won't be gigging for at least a month so I have time to save/look for one. I have tried playing the song in standard tuning but it doesn't sound right and the drop D really beefs things up.
16. I have been considering a hipshot D-Tuner for my Warwick but don't want to fork out £70 on something that might not work too well. At the mo we only do one song that requires drop D and at rehearsals I have time to tune down and then back up again. At a gig I may not have time on my side. Does anyone use one? Do they work? Thanks.
17. My Warwick came with Black Labels fitted but the G string was damaged and the shop didn't stock Warwick strings so I had to make do with a different brand (free of course). The BL's sounded great and I'll probably order some online next time I do some shopping.
18. That P'bass looks nice BB. One of my local shops had some in about a year ago, they seem to appear in fits and starts.
19. Never really had a gimmick, thought about it a few times.
20. I don't know about the Brandoni kits but you could get all the bits seperate like I did with my ebay special. I bought a VMJ with a Stagg neck for £75, Mighty Mite Jazz neck £57 Schaller machine heads £18.40 and a hipshot string retainer for £6.45.
WD music do a full kit inc pups/controls/s'plate + all that you'll need for about £180 seems a bargain.
The WD kit is hardware only, you have to get a body and neck on top.
21.
does this mean that the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz has a Precision neck!?
I wouldn't know, my VMJ came with a Stagg neck stuck on it. Only paid £75 mind.
