1. Going back to the original post, and judging buy the replies there are a fair amount of Warwick owners on the forum. Some with more than their fair share, mentioning no names. The long and the short of it is different people like different basses. I think I've found a peach and will probably get another Warwick should the cash arise. You could probably fine a fault big or small in any bass, not slating Ric's but I find the body too thin and the neck way too fat. Some moan about dead spots on Stingray necks but I didn't notice any on the Ray I owned. I had 2 Fenders which I had no gripes about but others question some of their quality control. If you listen to the opinions of others too much you can get paraniod and end up thinking everything is tat.
2.
It's gone again, probably due to the No PAYPAL statement which infringes ebay rules
Yea gone, but will it be back?
3. I think that one is out of leeroys price range/ over priced. You could get a standard lefty jazz and get it sprayed. You could probably get some tins and do it yourself, lets face it, it couldn't look much worse than the one in tyour other thread
4. Phil Lynott used one of the plexi basses after his first bass was stolen you can see it on the vid for whiskey in the jar. As for the Scroll bass, Italia seem to have borrowed the design for their Imola bass.
5. First I've seen on a Ray, Les Claypool has a trem on one of his Carl Thompson basses. I suppose it depends on weather you need one or not.
6.
£100!!! Someone knows how to use ebay!!!
A steal
7. Thats one thing that worries me about winning with a low bid, someone refusing to let something go.
8.
not accepting paypal, doesnt want to give any refunds this time then
Yes I found that bit interesting, I'm surprised he's still listed it with a Sterling pickup.
9. Cheers, I've just got back from Darlington music center who have a small selection of SWR Workingman but they didn't know about the Spellbinder and when they rang their supplier they thought it would be January. All the lightweight stuff seems to carry a high price tag, looks like I'll have to save up for it or do more OT.
10. I usually don't show my hand until the last few seconds but last week I was going to be out when the bidding ended. I stuck a low bid in the day before and won, got some bargain strings £3 a set.
11. Anyone know who stocks them, how much they are or where I can try one? I've done a search on the net but can't find anything apart from the SWR site.
12. Along with the Dolphin i also have a Jazz bass made of parts bought off ebay, fitted with some Rotosound Tru-bass strings. I'm really pleased how it has turned out and it sounds great too, different to the warwick giving me more variety within my sound.
13. I think it is probably fasion but I've never been one to follow the crowd. If they hadn't fallen out of favour then I wouldn't have been able to afford sutch a great bass.
14. There was a Trio (sax, double bass and drums) playing in the bar of the rehearsal rooms I use, the double bass came through quite clear (unamplified). I nearly did a gig about 2 years ago, we turned up and there wasn't enough room on the stage for all the amps that had been bought along. The combo that the bass was to go through was an old Vox keyboard amp 30watts. My bass (active Cort) just sounded distorted no matter what I did. Anyhow the gig was cancelled after we had all set up
15. Wattage wise, what is the smallest rig you have used at a gig? Back in the early 90's I had a Carlsbro Stingray 100w through a 16ohm 18" speaker, now I don't know the maths but it couldn't have been pushing more than 70watts max. After that I had a Trace Elliott BLX130 without extension cab to start with. It amazes me what my mates and I would gig with back then, nowadays it seems some bassists arn't happy unless their rig can burst an ear drum at 100 yards. Has live music (or drummers) got louder or do people use large wattage amps at lower volumes for more clarity?
16. I payed a hefty deposit on my CC, after the deal didn't go through (their fault not mine) I was pissed around when trying to get the dep back. In the end my CC company suggested they refund me the money onto my card and take action to get the money back. When I told the dealer this they paid up within 24 hours.
17. Yes, but I am now paranoid that if I change the strings the magic will go with them. I can plug the Dolphin into literally any amp and get a good tone, even the abused Torque amp at the rehearsal room.
18. Yea, I had been considering one of those. I may need to do some selling or overtime to afford it but at nearly half the weight of the SWR it will probably be worth it
19.
yeah but Jack Bruce is a jazzer really
A jazzer what learnt to play proper
20. I love the paint job, it looks better than the un-reliced finish on the other bass, give's it character.
21.
Andyonbass has the 500w version, worth checkin out at the bash this weekend if it'll help give you an idea?
I have been looking at the LH500 and the HA series amps as they are within my budget and I have to get some cabs.
