1. I got em, thanks for the heads up PB. I would have paid £30 for the cabs alone, the speaker untis dont have a power rating on them so I have contacted Fane to see if they can give me any info. I have put the bass through them and they sound good, no farty sounds.
2.
we've got these big rolls of fibre stuff
Shredded wheat? I knew I was going wrong somewhere .
3. Were only selling it because she prefers playing the Jazz bass I put together. On the good side I'll have some cash to put towards a new/2nd hand bass head. I've decided to ditch the combo and go for amp and cabs, so my SWR will be on here soon.
4. I've got some cash put aside to insulate the loft, I'm sure the family wouldn't mind me spending it on the Thumb. Then again if I didn't keep it in the same room as the Dolphin I doubt anyone would notice (apart from it getting cold).
5. Yea, I'm trying to convince her that the Thumb that WH is selling would site her down to the ground .
6. My wife has decided to sell her Ibanez bass, so here it is. There is also a link to the ebay auction, I've put it on at £220 ono. It's lightweight and active with a nice slim neck. 7. Nice but I don't like the price. I've been looking for an overdrive pedal for a few weeks and have been through the usual Boss, Didgitech & Electro Harmonix but havn't been able to try the Dave Hall stuff. What are they like? any good?
8. What about some blues? I found it good for learning scales, especially 12 bar. Something like the Woo Hoo song, Hoochie Coochie Man etc.
9. For years I used rotobass nickles, I also had set of Tru-bass on my jazz and a set of jazz flats on my ray when I sold it. I've never really had a problem with Rotosound and the only reason I have changed is that I've either been given strings or picked them up at a bargain price. I got given a set of D'addario nickles when I bought the Warwick and in my opinion they are no better then the Rotobass nickles. I also got a set of Ernie Ball flatwounds (that are currently on my Warwick) for about £10 which are nice strings, not as zingy as the Roto Jazz flats but good for the blues. I recently bought 2 sets of Dunlop nickle strings off ebay for £3 each and they are sweet, I'll probably end up getting more. I've used Elites, Hartke and Picato which were good but had a few probs with Roberts and Elixier. The Roberts flatwound sounded dead and the ball ends of the Elixiers didn't fit into the tail of the Warwick very well.
10. I had a cab years ago that was an 18 + 10, I found the 10" took the fart out of the sound.
11. Yes, I have a Rover 100 kensington that cost me £400 and its sh*t.
12. I don't know who I sound like, It's been so long since I used my combo I've forgotten.
13. Nice, I've seen these in a shop in Consett but didn't have time to try them, also I was at work at the time.
14. When I started playing all those years ago all the local bands sort of knew each other and gigged together at one time or other. It was always arranged in advance who would supply what on the night.
15. Says it was here http://www.philbrodieband.com/muso_jerome-rimson.htm
16. Can he order you one? I bought a Hipshot D-tuner off him, he didn't have the one I wanted but ordered it for me. I find his prices are very reasonable, the D-tuner was about £20 less than Allparts.
17. I have been toying with the idea of spraying my jazz bass. I had thought CA red, black or gold but after visiting an art shop in town I have found some more obscure colours which I thought would look good on a bass.
18. I had one of those BLX130 but without the horn and built my own extension cab to get the extra output. I was very pleased with it. I am also in a blues band and find the SWR Workingmans 15 I am currently using, a bit hi-fi and toppy and have to boost the lows and low mids to get that bluesy sound but it's doing the job at the mo. I have also used Ashdowns in live situations and found them ok with a good sound, a bit more bassey but that could have been the way the EQ was set. I would suggest going aroung the music shops and try a few then trying to find a 2nd hand one, thats what I have done in the past.
19. What about Frank Zappa Don't Eat the Yellow Snow, not really a christmas song but does have snow in it. Or maybe Hanky the Christmas Poo.
20.
if you can't do it with 4 strings, you aint tryin' hard enough
Well said that man.
21. There was a youtube vid on here not long back and he had a wooden drumslick type thing strapped to his thumb.
