1. He also has a Sunn Mustang base for sale, what a dickhead.
2. Reading some of the comments so far makes me feel quite lucky. Ian, the guitarist/singer who's blues band I play bass in can improv really well. We can play any song (in our set) in almost any key (where it sounds right). All in all it means that we can extend some songs with more/longer solo's or even jam it out. The previous drummer (so I'm told) wanted every song played as it was recorded or not at all I have been to some open mic nights where one guitarist knows a song in A and the other knows it in G and neither is willing to change, what fun that is.
3. Thats a 34a on the website you've linked to. I had one about a year ago but it was the older model with a full pick guard and block inlays (see my avitar). They seem to have improved the bridge as well. In my opinion the sound was very close to a Stingray.
4.
I play Blues... It's almost impossible not to accidentally re-use a bassline someone else has come up with...
Same here, I find alot of the covers we do are very similar (12 bar pattern with the chords in a different order). One bass line I did was almost identical to Stuck in the middle with you, but it fitted. Any how that band is no more so it doesn't really matter.
5. only 2 at the mo a Warwick and a Jazz. Might be lookingn for a fretless soon.
6. I can't remember which Warwick amp I had but I'm sure the fan came on for a few seconds on start up. Hope you manage to sort it out, theres nothing worse than being shafted.
7. His feedback is sh*t as well. I have an original broken rear light lense from a 69 Triumph Spitfire, that must be worth at least £100. I wonder if he will do a part ex?
8. In my early days I turned up to too many gigs that didn't happen or only half the band turned up. So based on the info given I'd stay at home.
9. I tried playing guitar, but when I couldn't play like Gary Moore after a week I sold it and bought a bass. My eldest has a guitar and I have a strum about now and then. We also have a drum kit which I can play quite well even if I do say so myself.
10. There was a guy in Worcester years ago who had a mohawk and spiders tatooed on his head.
11.
"For sale - Jack socket for a fretless 5-string."
sh*t, I need one for a 4 string.
12. I have my bass set so my gut sits in the concave bit on the back of the body (Warwick) and slightly lower on my Jazz. Not too low though, I don't like knocking the twins about too much.
13. I had some Roto Tru-bass on a Stingray and they sounded great, nice and thuddy. Put some on my Jazz and they didn't sound or play the same.
14. I was tempted by one I saw on ebay the other week. It was only up the road in Peterlee, it had block inlays and white binding, looked nice.
15. I'd like to know what the split P pickup sounds like on a Thumb.
16. Have a look here and see which matches. http://www.bassguitarpartsdirect.co.uk/sho...r+Bass+Machines
17. I tried both when I bought a stingray and couldn't really tell the difference, ended up getting a 2eq
18. I think it was a Suzuki my mate had, it was easier for him to cut the gearbox out from underneath than it was to get the body off.
19. I'm glad it went, it was just sat there tempting me. I've got some spondies saved up for an amp so can't really go blowing it on another bass.
20. I think it was only on for about 30 mins and someone snagged it at £150 BIN. Neck through with hard case http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=280291349942
21. I didn't think for one second that we would get anything out of it.
22. Having owned £100-1000 basses the only one that has really stood out above the rest is the Warwick, I can't fault it, I got it in a sale at Reverb for £699. I've had a Wesley bass (£100) a Jap Fernandes Jazz (£250) a Yamaha BB414 (£220) a Jap Fender P (£325) and a Stingray (£850). All played and sounded good with no real issues. Guitar wise Ive had an Epiphone Les Paul wich I got for about £120 and an Aria ProII for my son which I paid £56 for both are good guitars and would easily hold their own. A chap turned up for a jam with us a few weeks ago and had a Cort, one of these I think http://www.cort.co.kr/english/products/com...?product_id=125 which sounded great and he swore by it, said it was as good as any high end guitar he had played.
23. I've been looking on line at some bass gear, now I know the 2.5% reduction in VAT isn't much but would probably cover the postage on say a £300 amp. Now I didn't do a before and after on everything but I havn't seen a reduction in price on what I have looked at. I thought maybe they hadn't changed the prices yet and would refund the difference. On closer inspection it would seem that some shops have put the net price up cancelling out the vat reduction (that is not much in the first place).
24. Nice bass, I have s soft spot for Thumb basses. A few months ago I would have bought if I hadn't found a Dolphin.
