2.
And Bowie's 'Let's Dance' album and the early Madonna stuff and The Power Station and Sheila B Devotion.
Yep, they played Lets Dance, with the drummer doing the vocal. One of the girl vocalists was stunning, they way she looked, the way she moved - could sing a bit as well
3. Well that price is very good - I would phone and ask if they have it in stock and confirm when they can dispatch. If that all seems good i would go for it. Really nice basses the Bongo 6, played one at a show last year was was very impressed
4.
It's completely unprofessional to slag off somebodies gear like that if you work in a music shop - if he'd done that to me I'd have taken my money elsewhere. I notice that this shop doesn't stock Aguilar - I always question the validity of anything said about a piece of gear by someone that works in a music shop if they don't happen to stock that particular make. I know of music shops that make a point of rubbishing certain brands just because they've refused to let the shop stock their equipment (you have to wonder why they wanted to stock that stuff in the first place if they think it's crap). I've seen it happen so many times before - a shop will slag off a make of bass, amp or whatever & then 6 or 12 months later they're now stocking that same piece of gear & saying how great it is.
TBH, I expect this was just a joke comment when talking to someone about a product he doesn't stock, rather than some attempt to diss a very well known, quality brand such as Aguilar. Really don't think thats his style
5.
Just a very quick snap of my new amp rig. I'm in the process of writing a proper review with pics n stuff as soon as, but I couldn't resist getting a taster up online. Special thanks has got to go to Buck Waller at ISP - and also the guys from GotoGuitars near Manchester for distribution in the UK http://www.isptechnologies.com/
Wow! Looking forward to the inside track on that rig for sure.
6. B5, oh dear, think this visit is going to end up costing you more the the price of some Nordy pups! Have to agree though, great shop with wonderful stock
7.
CHIC and Nile Rodgers are on tour at the moment. I'm going to see tham at the Forum in Kentish Town , London, a week Friday. Checking out a few recent vid's on youtube, their still putting on a good show. Still tickets available as far as I know
That gig last night was a blast, a real disco fest. The played all their hits and some of the songs they did for the other artists mentioned above, Diana Ross , Sister Sledge Ahh, Good Times
8.
- bit scary really, these people are proper musicians.
Ha, I knew it was for Noel Gallaghers new band
9. Oh how I laughted when I read the OP back in early January i really wasn't planning on buying or selling anything at the time. By the end of January i had sold a Ken Smith six string and since then it reads something like this: Bought a black Stingray 4 - sold a black Stingray 4 Bought a cherry burst Stingray 4 - sold a cherry burst Stingray 4 Bought a Ibanez GWB35 fretless 5 - sold a Ibanez GWB35 fretless 5 Bought a cherry burst pimped Lakland 5501 - sold a cherry burst pimped Lakland 5501 Bought a Stirling HH Ltd 4 - sold a Stirling HH Ltd 4 Bought a Sadowsky NYC 4 - sold a Sadowsky NYC 4 Bought a Genz Benz NEOX 212 cab - sold a Genz Benz NEOX 212 cab Sold a Genz Benz Shuttle 6 Bought Tecamp Puma 1000 head Bought a Tecamp M212 cab Bought a spalted maple Alleva Coppolo Jazz 5 (that's going nowwhere) Bought a Celinder J4 fretless In the process of selling a Lakland Bob Glaub 4 and Spector NS5XL That just leaves me with the following: Alleva Coppolo Jazz Celinder Jazz 4 fretless Tecamp Puma 1000 head and Tecamp M212 cab That was an unexpected orgy of buying and selling and as all of the items sold had been bought here secondhand, didn't really cost me much money to speak of. I'm happy with what I have now - though time will tell whether I stick with the fretless. It's been a fun six months, though I'm bored now with the buying and selling process and don't expect to ever own more than two basses again
10. Really hope you get the gig Al, and hope this band turns out to be 'the one'
11. Damn fine DJ5 you have there, Dave
12. Very nice Steve, you finding much difference in tone between the two?
13. Can't understand why people get upset by this transaction. eBay is a marketplace pure and simple, not some kind of club. The guy saw what he felt was a bargain, put his money down and hopes to make a profit on the sale (less about 10% for fees) This is what many people do on the 'Bay Is it any different to you taking you bass to a bass retailer selling it to them and they putting it in the window at at a good markup or selling your car to a main dealer, for that matter? When people buy on Basschat any then attempt to turn a quick profit, here or elsewhere, thats a very different thing, in my view
14.
The Ken smith black tiger is on it's way to finland as Ville (Nobody's perfect) on here has Made a deal with me.
How many Smith sixes does one man need

16. Nice bass! There's a bit more info on Bill Nash and his basses in the Premier Guitar mag article titled: '5 Pre-CBS-Inspired Bass Builders You Should Meet' some info on Coppolo and Mike Lull basses there too.. 17. Why not post in James existing feedback thread? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42703&hl=james
18.
Anyone noticed how the Aguilar cabs seem to have some sort of optical illusion? The top cab looks bigger than the bottom, but they are both exactly the same size. It's not just a camera trick either, they look that way in person! It always astounds me how side by side they are identical, whack one on top and all of a sudden the bottom one has shrunk!
Think you'll find if your looking at the straight on, form the same level - not from above, they'll both appear as they are (the same size)
19. £360 well spent I reckon - not that i've every played one, mind.
20.
Would anyone mind if I brought along some testing gear and did some RTA on as many of the amps present as possible? Would be really useful to build up a database on the natural response curves of various amps. Alex
Ok with me
21. Thanks Dave, I'll go and have a look now..... Paul
22. Great looking jazz bass you have there James - how long did it take you to source all the parts. Oh, and did you get any duff bits along the way?
23.
Ah yes, sorry, it just seemed weird that it was $400 or so cheaper than the UV...but I suppose the UV's are fairly high whack money anyway. Ive sent an email to Sadowsky seeing how much they are shipped here......probably dont have enough...but I need to find out! guitarguitar and thomann are selling Sadowskys but the prices are far too high. I think they do sell the Metros direct to overseas customers still. Anyway, enjoy it, a stunning bass.
Can't see how you could import a Sadowsky Metro form the US for less that the UK shops are quoting. Bass Central sale prices for 4 string Metros range between $2100 and $2600 (this for the UV series) They charge almost £300 shipping then there's import duty and vat to pay http://www.basscentral.com/2003/sadowsky.shtml
24. Greg bought a couple of packs of strngs from me recently - a pleasure to do business and quick to pay
