  1. I thought musically they still sound pretty good, I particularly liked Ian Paices' drumming but if Ian Gillan turned up to audition for my band he almost certainly wouldn't get the job!
  2. I often think it's better to simplify what you play when playing live. I've played with many amateur musicians who constantly overplay in an attempt to stand out and be heard. When you watch pro musicians their playing is usually effortless, doing just what's required. I usually do my own take on a bass line which develops the more I play it live while trying to retain the essence and feel of the original but I've always had trouble remembering stuff note for note. I think you have to do your own thing.
  3. I remember once reading a review of the Glockenklang Blue Sky in which the reviewer claimed to be able to hear a noticeable difference in quality between the supplied power cable and a 'regular' one!
  4. Beautiful bass. I notice it doesn't have the usual finish on the body, which I believe to be polyurethane. Has it been refinished in gloss? Looks much nicer like that.
  5. I bought a B stock PJB C4 at a price which seemed to good to be true. I'd never heard of them but took the risk all the same! It arrived within a week in a sealed PJB box totally as new and unmarked. I've since bought a B stock PJB D600 for less than half price, again arrived quickly and as new.
  6. I don't have two c4s so can't compare that combination to my one c8. I have used the 4b with the c8 on top which was great.I'd love to pick up another c8 for a super awesome rig!
  7. I have a 4b,a c4 and a c8. The 4b is definitely nicer sounding than the c4 although they have the same speakers apparently. The c8 is simply awesome. I bought the c4 to go with the c8 but to be honest it's unnecessary, the c8 is plenty loud enough for any gig I do and sounds better alone. I don't think you'll regret buying a 4b if you have the chance, or any pjb cab for that matter.
  8. Interesting that the 700 series basses have active electronics but the twice the price pro series is only passive? They do look nice though!
  9. I ordered a smooth hound last week directly from Chris after seeing it on here and it arrived in no time at all. It's a fantastic bit of kit and amazing value. Done two gigs over the weekend and it performed brilliantly at both, sounded awesome. I would fully recommend this to anyone thinking of going wireless.
  10. Done two gigs so far with it and to be honest on both occasions I was unaware of anything coming out of it unless I lent right into it, but to be fair, both very small stages so standing right up close to my amp so no problem hearing it. Does sound really good up close to the earbox though, detailed and crystal clear which was useful at some points. Having said all that, my overall sound did seem better than usual, clearer and more defined so maybe there is something in it. It just wasn't how I expected it to work I suppose. Next weeks gig is a pub we've done half a dozen times and I've struggled every time with my sound there so that will be a good test.
  11. Just received mine and first impressions are that it's going to be a useful piece of kit. Can't wait to try it properly though at tomorrow nights gig.
  12. The manual says when both switches are in the on position the minimal impedance is 4ohms,both off it's 2.7ohms.
  13. Just bought a lovely bass from Si. He packed it up really well and sent it out in no time at all. Great communication throughout the transaction too. A highly recommended basschatter, deal with confidence!
  14. Just bought a speaker cable from Lawrence who packed it up immediately and posted it out to me. Good communication and item as described. Very pleased. Thanks.
  15. Another positive experience for me. Bought a amp bag and Jon had it packed up and sent in no time at all. Very happy. Thanks.
  16. Pm'd re the glockenklang bag
  17. More pics....
  18. Yes the core timber is thicker on mine so the contour looks different. I can't remember what hardware yours had and I don't recognise the bridge. The active circuit and switches have been added I'm sure. I didn't fit them.
  19. I'm not sure what you mean by the top moulding? There were some differences ie knob spacing maybe but both bodies were machined using the same jig.I added that xlr at a later date. The thing that convinces me though are the laminated ebony and maple pickup surrounds I made to mount the humbuckers. I'm sure I can see that in your pictures? By the way yours is made from Padauk which is why it's so red in colour.
  20. Here's mine!
  21. I think I can help.I'm 99.9% sure this is one of a pair me and my mate built around 80/81 when we worked in a furniture factory in Greenwich. I still have the other one and the original drawings too. Not sure that's the original neck though, I don't remember doing anything with diamonds!

  23. I have for sale a Stingray 5 replacement neck made by Status Graphite. It is in very good condition and there are no issues with it. It has a set of fitted chrome tuners that I believe are OLP ones which work perfectly well, and a Hipshot 3 string retainer. There is plenty of life left in the frets. I believe from the serial number that it was made in October 2000. It will be well packaged for posting, or you are welcome to collect from Chatham, Kent. Price is £210.00 including uk postage. Thanks for looking, any questions please message me. David
