  1. Wow! Stunning piece of wood on that for £175!
  2. Fairly sure it’s original in this state as I’ve had it close to 35 years. Also, I have a trace with the green and red knobs and they do not fit the pots on this GP11. The green and red knobs are secured with a screw beneath the caps. The black GP11 knobs are secured with a nut. The pots look original inside and don’t appear to have been replaced by looking at the wiring and soldering. The pots are also both incremental. Of course I maybe wrong but I’ve always thought it was an early model made before they decided to fit the coloured knobs...........which of course are much nicer!
  3. I have one of the original gp11 preamps too. Could be even older than yours as it doesn’t have the coloured knobs. Unuseable now as the sliders have disintegrated inside. Would love to have it restored but I believe it’s impossible to source the parts.
  4. Went to see Marillion at the Brighton Dome a couple of months ago and the support act was the Beggs Sisters. Nick Beggs on double bass with his daughters on acoustic guitars and vocals. They were very good.
  5. That’s a beautiful bass, and complete with it’s original case too. I really want one of these.
  6. Yes, active/passive switch. Lovely basses btw.
  7. Yes I held out as long as I could thinking it would go but it didn't. It was too good not to buy at the price and local too. It's well used of course but still a bargain and a great addition to the collection.
  8. Yes, from eBay.
  9. And here she is, bought as a project/something to do over Christmas. Was located just 20 mins up the road so hard to resist!Totally stripped down, every screw and component cleaned, tuners dismantled and straightened and repaired, fretboard gunk cleaned, oiled and frets levelled, all chrome polished, body polished and some chips repaired, neck correctly realigned, new strings and full setup, plays and sounds great! A lot of bass for a small amount of cash.
  10. This is the tool. I recently bought an 80s Yamaha BB which surprisingly came with original tool kit. Took me a few minutes to figure out what it was for!
  11. Three position toggle switch for cut/flat/boost of mid frequencies used in conjunction with the middle black knob.
  12. I would gladly re home that Status for you!!!
  13. Yes it’s a kickass 5. I didn’t realise quite how much larger than the 4 string version they are until it arrived in the post and I almost sent it back. I’ve subsequently acquired a used hip shot A style bridge so may change it at some point.
  14. Here’s one I put together.
  15. I had one as my first bass too. A cream one. My mum paid £25 for it at a local secondhand shop for me around 1973. Quite a sum for her at that time. That was the start of a lifelong obsession with all things bass for me! GLWTS.
  16. Yes I know, that’s why I found it so blinking difficult!
  17. The bass solo break in Call me Al. Our keys player/band leader insisted we had to have it in our set list every gig despite my protests! I think he loved to see the look of terror on my face as we worked our way through the song to that dreaded bit where I would quite often just freeze or at best just slap anything just to fill the gap. I worked on it for years by which time I had managed to come up with something really quite passable. There was just one time I felt I actually perfectly nailed it at a gig. After that it was dropped and we never did it again!!!
