1. Rickysounds are a rip-off! Look for a seller called 'Sound-me-out' on evilbay. He often sells RIC stuff.
2. Took me 20 years to get around to them and, bar one Steinberger, all my basses are Jazzes now. But Jazz pups - even stock ones - can sound different to each other, for several reasons I won't go into here, but what I look for in that rear pup (with the amp flat) is its ability to growl and to bring out those harmonics just behind the 4th fret and the ones just in front of the 3rd. If the rear one can't do that, out it comes.
3. Mark D Phillips. eat your heart out! Intentionally funny, unlike MDP's.
4. What a fkn mess that neck is and I'm convinced I see the work of Nitro-mors. He has clearly not reshaped the neck nor sanded it as there seems to be an unintentional V-profile to it. And as for the thumb-rest placement........ I love spotting his stuff, either on here or ebay.
5. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3ccb1b63a7 That's never a body from '93. Don't recall the RIs having grain figuring like that. My guess (could be wrong) is a Fender RI neck (note slab) on a Squier body with stacker circuit. Loving, the intonation, btw! :-)
6. I remember them when they first came out. There was also an oddball version with the '80s pointy headstock. I would mind one with the conventional headstock but they're very rare.
7. $3500 for an RI Jazz that's been on TV??
8. I have one. Haven't used it for some time bit I saw it as being good for maintaing forearm muscle tone. It was good for that but whereas I can see it assisting those with injuries I can't say it helps improve one's playing.
9.
. Mr. JH doesn't seem to care for them, as he has compared the appearance of the upper bout to a certain active appendage of Equus asinus,
Now, just how would he know what one of them looks like? Interesting.
10. That one up there is in very good condition. And they command stupid money, even the hatchet job on ebay Germany.
11. Missed it due to work. Met him backastage at a small club gig up here, back in the early '80s. I had a quick chat with him but he had a couple of dames hanging around him (and a Jazz cigarette) so I didn't stay too long. He had the pearl white JD and the all-in-one Trace 8 x 10 rig and what looked like a Yamaha delay.
12.
I wonder if they "dress" to the right or the left...?
AHahaa! Schweet!
13. Whoops - edit!
14. I don't know why I sold mine. A great bass, though thought the pups weren't that great.
15. I fondly remember my IC100s and the 2 x 15" cab. Did not like the Bass Machine gear, though. All the best with this venture.
16. Did any of those models have epoxy on the 'board? Also, it's bloody confusing having three models.
17. Warwick's 'Solder' finish!!
18.

What IS he smoking?? Fat string??
19. I've just spotted this on ebay. Nothing like blowing your own trumpet!!
20. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAZZ-BASS-GUITAR-BODY-/160878414324?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item257519c9f4
21.
...could be Harold Bishop on bass...?
ROFL
22. 360s and flatwounds, certainly in the late '60s/early '70s.
23. Man, I'd eat that...
24. What you may be hearing, with this low output, is the active circuit not being engaged due to it not being powered by the battery. Have a look at the battery terminals, esp if it's the push contact. This is a known problem with MM basses that have the flip-up battery compartment.
25. I am sorry to hear that, man. All the best with the sale.
