1. I nearl fell foul of Parcelforce and I'd like to say to BC members: Stay away from them! They 'lost' a 335 I sent to Spain and in the surrounding panic I then discovered what the insurance value actually was!!! Luckily, aftern ten days the guitar eventually turned up. It was found hidden in a cage in a corner of the warehouse in Coventry; it's tracking labels had been removed and was only initially identified by it's size. Go figure where it was soon to go to! I worried like mad until the thing got to Spain and after it did I told PFW that I'd never use them again aor even recommend them. Since then, all my auctions/sales put the onus on the buyer to arrange insurance and couriers.
2. I've had two early '90s Thumbs and two Dolphin Pro 1s and I can safely state that the Dolphin circuit has discernably less out put than the Thumbs. One thing that really p***** me off about the Dolly was the weakness of the rear single coil on its own. You really couldn't go to that during a gig; absoultely useless.
3. If you want some good second hand ones, go to http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/ and click on Fender at the top left. They have some smackers!!
4. Any ideas - apart from the obvious - why fender USA put the kibosh on Fender Japan exporting its rare ona non-standard reissue stuff to Europe, etc? I've seen some great kit from them ( Have a V-neck Ash tele with Bigsby and '66 dot and bound Jazz) and am just curious if anyone knows why the seppos canned it. Whatever happened to market forces, eh?
5.
alternatively i've been watching this set on ebay for a while - £336 Buy It Now. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=250301657487
Yeh, got given a similar price for some on Craigslist in Boston. Can't justify that price, not when I'm putting stack knobs in it. Will go with the black Hipshots. Cheers, mate. Stakka
6. Seen black ones here: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/bass_tunershipshot.htm Just the trick! Thanks again!
7.
I got mine from Wymore's (Hipshot HB2s) http://www.shop.wymoreguitars.com/category.sc?categoryId=5
Thx for that, Matt. I never knew Hipshot did them. Shame they're branded, though, as I want to keep this fella as much fender as I can.
8. I'm looking for a full set of these. Tried all the usual websites. Anyone hear of any, gimme a shout?
9. After a coupla decades on RS66 (and, occasionally, Warwick Reds) I am currentl running D'addario Pro Steels. Seriously, give 'em a go. Good VFM, too!
10.
It looks more like a pulled listing rather than a seller ending it early!
Pulled. At no time did I mention the 'F' word. So, either Fender (or a Fender mole/Bravewood hater) surfed the auction or eagle-eyed ebay staff, sat on their arse all day, combing for counterfeits, spotted it and pulled it. More likely reason were my anti-PayPal links that I posted. Must have ruffled a few feathers cos it was gone withing an hour of posting them! Still, karma has come about and that bass is about to be sold, but not via ebay. So they have lost their pound of flesh! I'd like to thank those forumites who expressed an interest in her. Th Gretsch and the Squier Jazz are still available..............
11. Try Pickguardian in the 'States; great stuff!
12.
Yes, that's the same maker. Did yours have the little brass logo on the headstock or the decal logo?
Brass logo.
13. Off out. Won't be back online till early evening.
14.
Didn't know they made them in this shape Naughty Naughty Made in America?
If RIC sniff that one, they'll get them shut down!
15. I've got a Blade B4. Had one yonks ago, solf it and regretted it immeiately. Took me a year to track another one down. Wouldn't part with it, ever!
16. Man, I had one of these DECADES ago! Not like that one. Mine was Canadian (same guy involved?) and had a slightly smaller body, herring-bone binding, two Barto mini-buckers and a quilted maple top.
17. Had a look at the other pix, guys??
18. Oops...... Just noticed there are bids on her on ebay. Please study the pix and if you like them and I get a good enough offer from anyone here I'll pull the auction, assuming the evilbay bids don't match it.
19. More pix added here: Visit My Website Yeh, it is on evilbay, as well. I'd rather sell it to members here, as I f***ing hate ebay. Another thing about the bass is that it the scratchplate looks like it has shrunk, just like the oldies did, ie, it doesn't quite match the outer perimiter of the control plate. Nice touch.
20. Guys, thanks for your interest. I'm off out now but will post back later tonight. Stacker.
21.
Bravewood looks nice I'm not sure I understand the logos etc - is it a Bravewood made neck with a Fender logo or a Fender neck that's been worked on by Bravewood? Wouldn't bother me either way - just curious!
The logos were added. None of this bass was constructed from Fender parts.
22.
On teh Bravewood, what is 9.5 relicing? Does that mean it looks 9.5 out of 10 perfect? What is the neck profile like? Also it woud be really good if you could d a gallery like this guy does... http://imageevent.com/chingo123/march2009/tokaispringysb3948 30 or so very high definition pics. Load them up on webshots or another freee gallery and link to it from here or your ebay listing. That will help people decide. I'd like pictures of it with the covers off, please.
Sure. Those I took were just quickies, to attarct interest. I'll take some better ones later on but they won't be up until tonight, so I'll bump this thread when they are ready. 9/10 means not much. A light finish, some sanding on neck and a few dunts. to which I have added, but not much. The neck profile is not like my vintage jazzes; it's more modern.
23.
Ball park price on the Bravewood please ..and where are you? Thanks
Well, she cost me £889 back then. I know that doesn't mean much in the 2nd hand market - things can go either way - but I need to find £1300 to cover the new purchases. That's why those three are up for a punt. I dunno, mate, make me an offer. I need to do more pix, as well, so if anyone's genuiniely interested they can PM me. BTW, I'm in East Lothian, Scotland.
24. Thanks, Don't really want to sell any of them (the old cliche) but needs must.
