1. What a poor, deluded fool. Either that or he's trying it on!
2. I've got it in my left ear, brought on by standin next to my Trace rig back in the '80s. I can hear it right now, a very high-pitched hiss, not too loud at the moment though it can be annoyingly loud. I don't gig any more but it worsens after I've had a session on my telecaster in front of the Fender Bassman. Also, I need to watch the music volume in the car, as well. I'd hate it to be worse than it is but I think you learn to zone it out if it's not too severe.
3. I'm against it, if it overtakes the musicianship, if there's any of it there in the first place. My pet hate was MIDI-files. I remember seeing these clowns who thought they could sing going into Sound Control back in the day and buying Roland and Yamaha file players and making money in the little workingmen's clubs in and around the Lothians. One night a few of us walked into an Edinburgh bar and we heard a band playing through the back. We walked through and there was this guy, faking it on a Strat copy you couldn't hear, singing away in front of a Yamaha portable keyboard that was playing MIDI-files at a rather loud volume. He was sh*t and it stuck in my craw that people were getting away with this almost karaoke nonsense whilst pretending to be 'musicians'! Thankfully, I haven't come across that sight in a good few years!
4. Didn't listen to it but read the article. Also found this on teh tech specs.
5. I had a '64 jazz in Oly White. And I let it go to a right toss-bag to pay off a credit card bill. One of the worst decision of my life!
6. I've already got a cracker of a stacker CS in translucent Cherry with matching headstock but I'd love the same in Shell Pink, thanks!
7. Anyone seen these? Check the R values. Were Pastorius' pups rewound? I don't recall hearing anything about that. 8. Is it defo a P-bass profile? Looks almost Jazz-like, though that could be camera angles causing that.
9. Yup, pre-ordered one last week. Looking good..........
10. No, it was the nicked guitars I remember them being associated with. Sorry, thread hijack. Apologies.
11. Well, well, well. I recall them going bust but I did not think it had to do with fake gear. What a bunch of *****.
12.
On the strength of a few good reports from the biggest musical rippoff street in Christendom ? I'm still waiting to see if those Denmark Street guys from Music Ground who were putting together 'vintage' amps and cabs, as well as guitars and basses, on a wholesale scale, will ever get prosecuted ?? This was a very serious fraud with them even going to the trouble to make fake serial plates, and putting dust rust and fluff in to the newer made up bodies to make them appear vintage. Same guys also owned 3 other Denmark Street stores. ps: In fairness, as far as Im aware non of this has anything to do with Wunjo who just have the unfortunate happenstance to be on the same street ( and pay the same exorbitant rent and rates, I'm sure)
What's this story about fake gear? Got a link?

14. Excellent guitars, Greco. Good luck with sale.
15. My Mrs understands if I need to rob the savings for one that's popped up, as long as the coin eventually goes back. Am sitting on about 24 guitars n basses right now and love 'em all! That said, she smuggles in very expensive handbags, esp when I'm working away!
16. Gonna have to go on the hunt soon for one with a friend who has started playing bass. Anyone got any recommendations in the £100-£150 price range?
17. Cheers. Will PM again when home tonight.
18. 'gnat's cock' - love it! There's a book in this guy, the J R Hartley of guitar restoration.
19. Snappy, growly '63 (or '64) any day. Don't like gloss necks on basses.

21. That area, usually around C-D on the G string, is the common ground for this on some basses. There's a whole science devoted to this symptom on the net but , as stated about, sometimes a tweak of the rod can alleviate the dead-spot in the first instance. I've got it one a Fender CS fretless Jazz; had it since I got it and it's taken ten years or so for it to lessen, possibly due to the neck/body losing more moisture. It's not as bad as it used to be, but you can still hear and feel it!
22. Hijacked profile? Even if I'd seen it there would have been no point any of us Edinburgh area guys going for a look.
23. The horseshoes will be magnetized only by the magnet under the pup itself, unlike the 'shoes on the '60s pups which were magnetized.
