1.
My comments on the official RIC corporate forum got wiped. He fobs someone else off here http://www.rickenbac...t=4627&start=10 Ending it with 'Let's move on' is just a tad condescending.
Just read that link. What a dog. With my BlueBoy blotching up like nicotine yellow in places, his reasons were:-

Smoke-filled home/environment
Prolonged exposure to sunlight
Exposure to UV light
There was no explanation for the reaction nor any apology for what had happened or that they would look into it. But it was his rudeness that got to me. I'll bet he was one of those kids who had his play-piece nicked offa him at school to make him turn out thus.
 2. That means he had to know your surname and address, no? Wow, what a determined little man.
 3.
I think he actually rang my house at one point.
How did he get your number??
 4. To be fair, I shouldn't have used the term 'hack-job' as this example is not indicative of the oddball 'modds' this crowd get ahold of, the most famous being the Rick 4005 disaster. But look at this: it just screams half-arsed bitsa! Check out also the headless Gibson Moderne 'project'! They seem to have an interest in acquiring these guitars that folk have fkd about on to the nth degree. Actually, they have a Gibbo EB1 up there.
 5.
Superb. H&O wrote and played some seriously good music. I saw them live in the 80s and they blew me away. T Bone Wolk was just one of the best, GE Smith insanely brilliant on guitar. Smith, man, what a player, eh?
6.
Ridiculously shed-hot bassist! Also that drummer is a bassists dream, metronomic or what?! What a pleasure to watch!
Whilst I, too, dig the bassist, +1 to your comment on the drummer: he was the one that really lit me up!
 7. Hack-job I wonder if he goes out of his way to acquire these dogs, if only to show 'em off!
 8. As a kid, the Rick was my Holy Grail but when I did get one s/h it was a bit of a dog. Same when, years later I got a new 4001s/8 which would not intonate properly, for reasons I won't go into here. Still, didn't put me off. Started collecting them again around 8 years ago and then discovered the bitchy, closed-shop of RRF and the venom of JH for daring to question the quality of the BlueBoy finish and that was that. The general consensus on this thread is that RIC has a right to protect its product where and when it can but the petty, nonsensical and downright nasty attacks on private sellers of copies made 40 years ago is what is indefensible. I had a good Ibby copy as kis and still love the 4000 shape and sound and I wouldn't refuse one of those Greco 4000s, as per below. Greco
 9.
That'll be one John Evan, erstwhile keyboard player and part time loon
Thanks. Not being a Tull fan, I had to YouTube them and discovered that Mr John Evans may have been part inspiration for Viv Savage! But, back on thread. I wonder what the 'waffen think of this thread? Doubtless they are discussing it via PM. Nothing on the RRF forum, though.
 10.
Spend too long thinking about Rickenbacker - and Fender and songs start coming into your mind...........
What's happening with the fella on the maracas? HE looks like he's speeding his tits off!
 11.
As can be seen from old TOTP videos John Birch made a fair few Rick copies without being stopped. However I believe his surviving business partner has been given a cease & desist notice after he had a modern John Birch (AD) 4001 well reviewed in G&B magazine. In opined that a JB was way in excess of a Rick in terms of build quality, price & function on Rick-Resource. Some guy who looks too much like Jimmy Hill for his own good took me viciously to task and then deleted my post. They don't like t up 'em!
Who he, then?
 12.
[sup]The sadistic humour in me thinks it would be funny to set up thousands of fake ads of non existent fake Rics all over the net. Should keep the Ric patrol busy for a while.[/sup]
I think that idea was mooted last year. Would be worth it, even the couple of quid on ebay, to have a laff!
 13.
It's very interesting to read that 2 people in this thread alone have scrapped thier plans to buy a real Ric due to the company image not impressing them, it won't take longvforvthis to spread around the bass playing community, they really should take note.
I think our chums on the other side of the pond (esp the denouncers in the Rickenwaffen) are aware of people shying away from RIC over in Europe after the takedowns we have seen over the last couple of years. I sold all my Rick basses last year after the multiple attack on a BCer's ebay sale which culminated in a nsaty email from John Hall himself. I would not patronise Rickenbacker ever again though I'd gladly have a Greco 4001s copy, if I could get my hands on one!
 14. Gumtree, now, eh? Doesn't surprise me as they have been ebay-owned for several years now. But, yeah, looks like someone is patrolling Gumtree or is it a bot looking for keywords? It seems to be the private, 2nd-hand sellers that are targetted. Why don't you put it up again and see if John Hall contacts you directly and with vitriol, like he has with some sellers in the past?
 15. Aye, gadgie....whyz yer gitar only goat fower strings???? (Edinburgh chavscum) Speaking of such:- http://forum.chav-scum.co.uk/index.php?
 16. Both a half-naked Gates McFadden and Lidl seem much more interesting at this juncture!
 17.
It's not Idli - It's Lidl.
LOL man, LOL!!!!! I hada a few nips and came home to this!
 18.
NSFW: when you're done, Google 'Gates McFadden topless'. Worth the effort and much more interesting than mediocreassclownwhores.
Skank- thank you, thank you, thank you. I have wondered about that for the past two decades. f*** Idli and his defenders!
 19.
This one from Atlansia takes individual pickups per string to a new level - http://www.atlansia.jp/OXFORD.html
That... is mental!
 20.
Can somebody pm with the big secret? It`s like a on line Tales of the unexpected!
Indeed! Yeh, c'mon, guys, make it easy for us not in the know.............
 21. Gordon Smith Guitars had something similar, way back in the early '80s: had the trem and two large, circular pups set in a PJ config. Sadly, can't find a pic on Google.
 22.
.., but Maybe Andybaxter has that to
Well, better him than Music Ground!!
 23. Didn't ESP make these, too? In fact, Cetera on here has one for sale! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/200059-esp-zep-ii-custom-ppj-160-masayoshi-yamashita-loudness-2xp-1j-pus/
 24. I reckon DJ is faking it on that Guild bass: check his left thumb.
