2.
Never had dealings with Ric. I'm another potential customer put OFF by the loony, petty behaviour. Same as I don't see me owning an ebmm bass again for similar reasons, especially after a personal run in with that particular slice of fruitcake.
I'm in the mood for sampling fruitcake this morning; care to expand on your experience?? I was looking, a while ago, for some advice on rectifier valves for my then newly acquired '59 Fender Bassman and was given a heads-up about the snidey comments I might receive from some of the denizens on the Fender Forum. And that person was spot on! Still, nothing beats the true fanboi and Ball-ache and Toad Hall have plenty of them to massage their egos over t'interweb.
3. Well, if you got it done by luthier/repairman, it could be. Depends how cosmetic you want this repair to be. I'd fill it, clamp and the seal it. Up to you, then, if you want to put some poly over it and sand but I guess from your concerns you might not be confident of doind such.
4.
"some of the value is in the providence". He's hoping for divine intervention?
Someone gonna tell 'em they mean 'provenance'?
5.
I used to own an unlined fretless L2 from the first year of production. Was my only bass for years but had to sell it to raise funds. Cool instrument.
Played a lined fretless back in the '80s and was stunned by the tone and bags of 'mwah'. Would still like one. An ULF XL2A recently went for £3200 so the OP's price for this L2 is a steal! Have another bump!

Fave guitar solo?

Mick Ronson's on 'Moonage Daydream' on the Ziggy Stardust album.
8. I guess with Behringer, it's as Bass Tractor basically says - some are ok, asome are sh*te! In my experience, their rack DIs are prone to noise and and my first gig with their Vamp-pro (1st model) was ruined by the amp intermittently cutting out, with the patch being used - or any patch for that matter - having to be recalled by selecting another patch first, a process compounded by the fact that that process had sometimes to be done more than once. I sold it and the foot-controller the next again week.
9. Some of the dealers on Gbase are on the pipe with their prices! Used to get some good deals up there but not for years!
10. Only ever had one fella did the unison sh*t, and that's what it sounded like! Seem to recall that Pastorius got pissed of with Zawinul playing the same line alongside in his latter time with WR. And, does anyone remember the BS flying about in muso mags in the '80s with guys saying that, with the arrival of more versatile keyboards and powerful MIDI sequencing, that the bass guitar was dead??
11. Usually, what I do if the outer carton is damaged is to politely ask the courier to hang on and then get a camera and photograph it in his presence and mark it as damaged. It used to be that you refused any damaged packages but the idea of circa £1k (for example) worth of bass lying about a warehouse until the issue gets sorted isn't sensible or practical. With that damage, the carton should have visible impact damage in the same place, so photgraph that as well. Plus, if it's without doubt the courier caused it, it's the responsibilty of whoever arranged the freight & insurance. TF it aint the bass that's damaged - that's something to be thankful for.
12. I had this model/colour and I let it go! I'd be interested but for the usual. GLWS.
13. I've only ever had one: a trans red, birdseye maple necked transitional model with the bullet TRA and the mutes. Baseball-bat neck, couldn't get on with it. That said, I'd like to get my hands on an unlined fretless with an exotic wood body one day.
14.
You mean lazyitis?
I think Milty has an illness or condition that may impede him from playing in a band. Sure he'll clarify, though.
15. Gave up in my late 20s due to apathy and personal issues. Started again around 40 and loved it, playing in an alt. country band. But the old muso patterns of control-freakery, back-stabbing and suspicion slowly crept back in and, after an altercation on night, I left. Would like to gig again but am just a shappy rattling a few tunes out on the geetars n basses at home!
16. Inspiring! When I hear the words 'Keynote Speaker', I usually sigh inwardly, imagining some boring suit harping on about finance or whatever. But this was enthralling and inspiring.
17. Good price for an excellent instrument. HAve a bump from a fellow Steiny user!

19. The seller ain't cheap, eh? Neither are some of his acoustics. Still, it's his choice to set the pricing.....
20. Thanx for the memories, Clarky. I remember watching this back then and found it such a moving song. And, yeh, the Costello version ain't a patch on this. Didn't even know he'd c-o-wrote it until years later.
21.
Hey! Don't do that! Looking right through the esteemed J. Hall Esq? The nerve! Learnt you nothing from Ibsen's Wild Duck, lad? "Deprive the average human being of his life-lie, and you rob him of his happiness.” best, bert
I am not au fait with Ibsen's work but I like that quote. Reminds me of not a few folk I know!
22. Sorry if this has been brought up before but this is news to me. That said, haven't followed MK for rather a long time now.
