  1. Exciting! I'm speaking to the Guitar Weasel about getting one. I'm sure sound clips will help make my mind up!
  2. Agreed. If you listen to Signals, which is about 50/50 Rick and Jazz, the tones are clearly very different. The confusion between the two seems to stem from Moving Pictures, on which both basses are treated with a fair bit of distortion, so telling them apart is tricker. Also, on Moving Pictures, Geddy played the Jazz on the neck pickup so it sounds less like the scooped Jazz sound we're used to hearing from him.
  3. The should have had all tuners on one side, and had a massive droopy Jackson headstock.
  4. I think if you're wearing the dress and wig most people will know who you are supposed to be. If you get time you could draw on some sailor tattoos as well.
  5. Awesome. I'm starting to get the itch again. I must be firm. Get rid of those wretched stickers though!
  6. It fits the Epiphone case but you have to insert it headstock first or it catches the fur lining.
  7. Well there you go! I can't wait to hear it! Might even end up ordering one for my '51!
  8. Intrigued! My theory is, the pickup placement is more important than the pickup itself - a Jazz pickup in the Rick 'bridge' position still sounds like a Rick. I predict the overwhelming flavour when the new pickup is installed will still be that of a '51 Precision, but I'd love to be proved wrong! And also, how quickly did he make that pickup?!
  9. Definitely something extra on there... Almost sounds like a subtle talk box.
  10. I don't think I 'got' it, but it made me laugh harder than I have in a long time so it gets the thumbs up from me!
  11. That would be an ecumenical matter.
  12. Tim bought my Boss LS-2. No problems whatsoever - good comms and quick payment. A ruddy pleasure.
  13. I did not know that! I'm sure the Excel was originally cheaper as it was a single pickup. However - $7000?! The Epic was £900 when it came out!
  14. It was entry level back in the day ( I bought mine in 1997) but since then Alembic has intoduced the Excel and the Orion. The Orion, I believe, is the same as the Epic but with a differnet body shape.
  15. I didn't really enjoy Emperor of Sand either. It wasn't 'bad', just felt like going through the motions. Mastodon by numbers. Up to this one, all of their albums seemed to be a clear development for the band. Mastodon should never be bland.
