1.
In Generations, we try to change it a little bit every time we re-visit the same venue to keep things interesting. This is the setlist for our upcoming gig in Oldham: • Natural Born Killer - Avenged Sevenfold • Toxicity - System Of A Down • Metalingus - Alter Bridge • End Of Heartache - Killswitch Engage • Symphony Of Destruction - Megadeth • Mouth For War/Cowboys From Hell - Pantera • Battery - Metallica • Duality - Slipknot • My Own Summer - Deftones • Bodies - Drowning Pool • In Waves - Trivium • Imperium - Machine Head • Before I Forget - Slipknot • 30/30-150 - Stone Sour • Davidian - Machine Head • My Last Serenade - Killswitch Engage • My Curse - Killswitch Engage • Set To Fail - Lamb Of God • Redneck - Lamb Of God • Master Of Puppets - Metallica • Raining Blood - Slayer • Walk - Pantera • Killing In The Name _Rage Against The Machine
That is a killer set list!!
2. I tried learning it many years ago, and although I was doing some fairly technical metal stuff at the time, I struggled with it as I had no idea about ghost notes really. Once I got into finger style funk and figured out the use of ghost notes It became much easier.
3. It really is a fun part to play, I think as Zuma says in his video suggested by gub, it's all about the ghost notes.
4. Got a text from our drummer yesterday asking if we can try doing Rio by Duran Duran. Had a quick listen earlier, glad he suggested it as I'd forgotten just how much fun the bass part is to play. Nice bit of weekend homework for me, jamming along to this. Just thought I'd share!
5. Bass- Me Drums- Shannon Larkin Guitar- James Root Guitar and lead vocals- Myles Kennedy If I'm unavailable I'll let Ryan Martinie or Rob Trujillo dep for me!
6. He does have a great tone on that DVD. Would he have been using his Ashdown "Entwistle" rig at that time?
7. Has the guy on the right in the first clip borrowed Mark King's bass strap??
8. My '09 Warwick Streamer LX4, Warwick Tubepath 5.1, and WCA 211,411 &115 cabs.
9. My '09 Streamer LX4. Excuse the poor pic quality!
10.

Über cool!
11. Bought a Warwick cab from J, great guy to deal with, friendly and even held the cab for a week for me. Would have no hesitation in dealing with him again (even if he was so busy practicing he didn't hear me ringing the doorbell!! )
12. I'll take the cab if you still have it. I'm in Turkey until Friday 26th, but could meet up and pay cash on Sat 27th if that's any good to you. If you PM me a reply I'll check back tomorrow sometime as I can only get wi-fi in certain parts of the resort. Cheers Lee
13.
I've played in that band....!
I think most of us have...!
14. The Spector Q4 that waynepunkdude is currently selling in the for sale section, can't go wrong for £150. But then again I own a Spector so I'm biased!
15. Brilliant bits of kit, got one on my Spector and shall be ordering one for my Warwick shortly. As someone has already mentioned, there's a guy in the states who sells them on eBay which works out cheaper. I bought the one on my Spector while I was on holiday over there for about $45.
16.
Yeah this topic has been done, but cant come to any harm can it! . And I keep forgetting his name but the bloke in Costello's Attractions. Dan
Bruce Thomas
17.
I'm sure I read recently that he's an endorsee for TC Electronics now?
He's been using TC gear recently, can't imagine they'd be too happy that one of their biggest endorsee's is on prime time tv with a trace amp right behind him!
18.
Nice Trace combo he had there.
Very nice, is he not using TC stuff anymore then?
19. Whatever the wife has decided to iron for me while i load the car! For most gigs i wear jeans and a black shirt, and then comes the difficult part of choosing which colour trainers from my vast collection of Converse Allstars and Adidas Gazelle's.
20. Sorry to repeat what's already been said many times, but your best plan of action is a set-up. Whether it be by a professional or a helpful BC'er. Ignore the cost of the bass, a £5000 bass can play like sh*t if it's not set up properly. If you'd rather take it to a shop than have someone come do it for you, get yourself on a bus/train/coach into Bristol and take it to Eltham Jones who now works out of Mickleburgh's. He set up my old USA P bass for about £45 and the difference was amazing. He's not there every day so give him a call first, his number is 07971 240296. Hope you get it sorted because Spector's are great basses to play, even the cheaper one's, My NS2000 was about £450 and i can't imagine me ever parting with it. Good luck with getting it sorted.
21.
I don't know if it helps, I wanted one for years and years, finally I got to play on one at a jam session, this one was natural with a plastic black scratchplate, two pickups, it was horrid, really horrid, almost unplayable - the neck felt like it was warped, the action was incredibly high and it still buzzed and farted all over. I handed it back with glee as my battered old Fender copy was returned to me... I still want one though - even though the one I tried was so utterly crap, the sound was like nothing else I have played since!
A friend of mine has a Wal (not sure of the model) that used to belong to John Paul Jones, and as much as i wanted to love it (as much for the JPJ connection as anything), when i played it i hated it! I just couldn't get on with it, the pickups were too far into the body for me to find a comfortable place to rest my thumb and i couldn't wait to give it back. It was at a jam night so didn't get much chance to talk to him about it. I'll have to try it again, at a time when i can take some time to get used to it, i'm sure it was more me than the bass!
22. Congrats. I spent 5 yrs doing permanent nightshifts of 7pm to 6am, with a 90 minute journey each way on top of that. I used to leave home before my wife arrived home and she'd be gone by the time i got home in the morning. Rehearsal time with the band was virtually non existent, and as a result the set starting becoming stale as we had so few opportunities to get together and do new stuff. I still work nights now but 10 minutes from my house and i don't start until 10.15pm and i'm home by 7.30am, and i only do Mon-Thurs, so i get to rehearse with the band and have tea with the wife. Much happier and i'm not walking around like a zombie all the time where i'm so knackered! Enjoy the extra "you" time, it's a great feeling!
