1. A German Streamer LX4 from Thomann would set you back aprrox £1600-1800 today depending on finish, the Korean Pro series models retail at around £1100-!300, so if you can pick that up for £600 it's a great bass for the money.
  2.
another option is the Source Audio multiwave bass distortion pro, with 6 user presets and graphic e.q. you can dial in how much drive/clean signal and different e.q. for each preset. pros : it is good value for money, and pairs up nicely with other pedals, and has plenty of variety. cons : the (digital) distortion sound is not for everyone, and personally i grew out of my initial love of it, as it was a bit synthetic for me, but some people rate it. ..perhaps worth watching the demo on their website.
Thanks for the tip, i'll check that out.
  3.
Shameless plug but mine is for sale on ebay at the moment and is the deluxe version. You can bypass the tone with a single click and it's pretty clean as stated. It does low gain dirt very well but the high gain tones aren't great unless the blend control is pretty low.
What's the differences between the deluxe and the normal programmable BDDI?
  4.
Some great figuring on that, very nice!
Thanks, I think it's a great looking bass, even if i am biased!
  5.
If it is an 06 then it will be made in Germany. They only started making them in Korea in early 2010.
Linus, if Jesso's not gonna have it why don't you have a punt on it mate?
  6.
If this is the case then it should have been marked as sold!!!!
Paul's probably been busy this weekend enjoying his new USA Precision!!
  7.
Can you tell me what year the bass is from or the serial on the back of the headstock so i can check on the Warwick site please? Also, does it come with the original Warwick owners manual, tools etc? Thank you.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this was the one i picked up friday mate!
  8. Hope you've got good eyes to see those letters under stage lights!! Our guitarist uses a tuner that clips on the back of the headstock, £15 and needs no soldering!
  9. I may have chance of a used sansamp programmable BDDI at the right price, what are the differences between that and the VT deluxe?
  10.
Damn, that looks sweet. Natural is my favourite followed by Burgundy. More jealous now Good job and thanks for sharing.
My pleasure! I'll try and get some video or soundclips of it through the tubepath rig in the pic and post them up!
  11. Hey guys, I'm after a bit of advice. I'm currently using a Ashdown Lomenzo hyperdrive pedal to add some grit to my sound, but am finding that i need varying levels for different songs. I know you can just adjust the drive/blend levels but when it's onstage and between songs it's just too much messing about. So i'm thinking of something like a Sansamp programmable BDDI so i can set the presets to the sound i need for certain songs and simply switch between. So, my question is, is there anything else that does this which i can compare it with, and also can you bypass the sansamp for when i just want my amp sound or do you just keep the blend right down for when i want clean amp signal? Cheers
  12.
Great stuff, I am very jealous. Looking forward to the pics if you can get them to upload.
You can see them on my FB page as i've managed to upload them to that, there's only a couple. Here's the links: http://www.facebook.com/Basschat?ref=ts&sk=wall#!/photo.php?fbid=10150317418483966&set=a.10412788965.17789.771683965&type=1&theater http://www.facebook.com/Basschat?ref=ts&sk=wall#!/photo.php?fbid=10150317420028966&set=a.10412788965.17789.771683965&type=1&theater The one of the bass on it's own is a bit fuzzy but i'll try again later to get some decent ones on here.
  13. Well collected my new Streamer LX4 on friday and got to use it through my tubepath rig the same night. all i can say is "Good Grief!!" It sounds awesome!! I always loved my Spector (even though its a cheaper NS2000 model) but the clarity and tone from the warwick blew me away! This could be the start of a very long relationship! Linus, i'm still trying to upload the pics, but it's not having it!

    Paul j h

Just done a trade with Paul, great bloke to deal with. smooth transaction. Highly recommended.
  15. I have a gator case for one of my other basses and it's a good case, for the money. I was just after something a bit more fitted, thats what i liked about the one in the link, that Corvette looks pretty snug in there with no room for slopping about! The fact that Corvette fits so well in it would be worth the extra money to me, saying that my gator case was about £65 so i don't think £99 is ridiculously expensive for a case, especially when you consider the value of the things we put in them! Just wondered if anyone had one to see what the quality of hinges/catches/handle etc was like. Thomann case looks good for the price though.
  16.
If they ever ask you anything similar you should tell them to look up H.J. Freaks
Is that the Korean wierdo who dresses like a young girl??
  17.
So am I the only one who thinks Rob shits on all of them... of course he doesn't get to in Metallica like... but everything outside of it he's a monster. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have got the gig if he wasn't. Obviously I look back at Cliff with fondness because he's of my generation and from a time when I actually was into the band but as for being technically the best..... ? Catch him on a good day (before his first hit) then maybe.
No you're definitely not alone there, given the choice of which i'd rather listen to i'd pick Trujillo every time!
  18. Has anyone got one these? I'd have to order online so wouldn't have chance to have a look at one, so any views appreciated. Cheers http://www.bassmerchant.com/item_detail.ph...mp;subcat_id=15
  19. Just sold my Boss GT6-B to chris, smooth and simple transaction. A pleasure to deal with, would not hesitate to deal with him again.
  20.
I used to think faster/flashier = better. My favourite Metallica bassist is probably Jason Newsted now because he supports the song, has a great tone, and great stage presence. When I was a teenager I didn't rate him quite as highly!
I'm not a huge Metallica fan but i think Jason Newsted got some unfair stick with regards to his playing just because he wasn't as "out there" as Burton or Trujillo.
  21.
I normally run a mile to avoid bass solos but between the mad-man look of the guy and the outrageous tone that made me smile
He's great, such a character too. Here's an older song from his Infectious Grooves days, nothing flashy on this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPYif0CaSO0
  22.
I'd have been completely screwed... who the hell is Rob Trujillo? All this competitive stuff is a mystery to me, but I won't be watching the Olympic Games either so that's probably just me :-)
Here you go, Rob Trujillo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlW0gGsSPsU
  23. Love the little off the cuff groove with TM in that vid!
  24.
i would have told them i couldnt possibly comment because i havent a clue who this cliff burton is - as for trujillo i only know his infectious grooves stuff long before the pair of them were even at big school and have never heard any of the metallica RT stuff- hes good but i think the reputation of the bass of doom will surpass him given time if i get bored later and there is bugger all worth watching on the idiot lantern i might search the tinterweb for mr burton
At first i thought he said Cliff Thorburn, i didn't even know Rob Trujillo played snooker!!
  25.
who are Metallica?
I think they're a new band, i've only heard of them because Rob Trujillo joined them!
