2. I did a gig saturday at a biker pub and after i'd finished a young guy(he looked about 16 at most!) came up to me and said "Me and my friend (points to his equally young looking mate) have just started playing, can i ask you a question?" So i said "yea sure" thinking he might want some playing/gear advice from an old codger(i'm 41 so in his eyes, practically dead), the following conversation followed. Him: "who is better, Cliff Burton or rob trujillo?" Me(thinking oh god not again!) It's all about preference/opinion, you're never gonna settle that argument Him: "yea but WHO is better?" Me: "there is no better, they are both different, it's just a case of who you'd rather listen to" Him: (by now his mate had joined us) "we look at the clips of them on youtube all the time to see who's better, so who do you prefer?" At this point i was really tempted to stoke the fire and say, none they're both sh*t, just to get a reaction but refrained and said "I personally prefer Trujillo, but thats nothing to do with metallica i've just always liked his playing" Him(to his mate) "hahaha i told you loser, rob is much better" His mate: "F*ck the pair of you man, cliff would totally own that monkey boys ass". So i finished up by saying " don't waste your time trying to settle pointless arguments with youtube morons, stick some music on, play along and enjoy it regardless of who happens to be playing the bass". At this point they left, swiping a half drank bottle of newcastle brown off of someone elses table on the way out! Got me thinking, do you think it's an age thing where you're obsessed with who's better than who, and as you get older you just tend to appreciate players more, or do you think that if you're that way inclined you'll always be like that?
 3.
Great stuff, hope the gig goes well and the Warwick is awsome. I'm sure it will be.
Thanks mate. Well i had a quick play on it at the guy's house and it feels great, was surprised how light it is compared to my spector, and the neck feels amazing!
 4.
HAHAHA thats the same as me. I was so excited when I got it. My sister picked it up for me but I could not collect it for about 2 months. The suspense was killing me. You will love it, they are awsome.
And as if in a act of god, i've only got to wait about 3 hours after picking it up before i'm letting it rip through my warwick rig at a gig!! Friday is gonna be a good day!!
 5.
Ace stuff, I can't wait to see it. I have GAS for a LX4 althought I love my Streamer Jazzman fretless, I quite fancy fretted one of those. Either would do I guess
I've wanted a Streamer for 20 years(really, i'm not exaggerating!), but for various reasons it's never happened, so you can understand the excitement!
 6.
Great stuff. Where you get it from? Please show piccies also in this thread.
I traded it for my P bass with a fellow BC'er. Be a bit sad to see the Fender go but i've played it about 20 times in the 6 years i've owned it and the Streamer gas finally got to boiling point!! I'll put some pics up when i get it home.
 7. Well my Streamer LX4 is arriving friday, and i think if i was any more excited i'd p*ss my pants!!
 8. New gear makes you FEEL better, and we're always being told bass is about FEEL!
 9.
PS I've just noticed you endorse "gear", so perhaps you're part of the problem? Do spectraflex cables and elite strings help you communicate better?
Meeeow!!
 10.
How tall are you for reference? I'd take an L usually, but looks like I will probably be an M, if not an S! Loving these, will be getting a black one. Would also gladly invest in BC sweatbands if they ever became possible, as I've discovered the need for them at hot and sweaty gigs lately!
Good call! Sweat bands next please!!
 11.
I assume it was clipping like mad in that state too, you were right to storm the stage and put him right!
Yes it certainly was! I think the thing i found most alarming was his ignorance, the fact he couldn't see why i was starting to get the hump with him, which just made me worse! I remember thinking, surely he can't be that stupid/deaf to think what he's doing to it is normal.
 12. I always get the feeling people think i'm being snobby or offish if i say no but you gotta look after yourself IMO, we do gigs with a couple of other local bands quite often and i'm more than happy to share my gear with these guys because we're all friends and i know they will respect it and should anything happen they would pay for the repairs. But if it's someone i don't know my mind instantly goes back to a gig i did back in the 90's when i let the support band's bass player use my brand new Trace rig, it was a AH350SM, 2103H and 1518 and i'd saved for bloody ages to buy it. He was happy enough to borrow it but obviously didn't like the clean sound it produced, he thought the best idea was to max everything to make it distort! I watched in horror as the overload light stayed on constantly for there first number before i got his attention after the song to say to him "turn the gain down, it's farting its bollocks off!" His answer was "Nah man, i like the distortion"!! We exchanged a few polite words before i turned it down myself and ended the conversation with " You touch that gain again and i'll f**king pan you"( i was a bit fiery in my youth)! Anyway, the point of the story is, in an ideal world all bass players would treat each other's gear with care and respect, but the reality is sadly different!
 13.
Oh and to the OP, my one that's up on here as a NBD thread set me back £1100, bassdirect have a 4 string version (also pre-owned but mint) up for £1300. You can get a lot more than korean quality warwicks for that kind of money. The Korean workmanship isn't all that bad, I own at least three Korean made basses, but Warwick will have made sure the components don't live up to the ones they use in Germany, and you can be sure the tools most certainly don't.
Your new one is a stunner mate!
 14. There was a recent thread about shop vs online, and from some of the posts on there it would appear that this level of customer service is not limited to Denmark Street i'm afraid. It seems like there are 2 questions you get asked when you apply for a job in a music store: Are you completely clueless about all kinds of musical instruments? Are you a total asshole with an uncanny ability to knob people off with your arrogance within 30 seconds of meeting them? If you're answer is yes to one of these questions then you can start tomorrow, if you answer yes to both then you can start today, you're management material!!
 15.
If getting a blue bass is a deal breaker, why not buy a regular german Streamer for £600 or so and spend £200 getting it refinished in Ocean Blue? You'll still save a few hundred quid and you get exactly what you want! Truckstop
See, this is the reason i ask for other BC'ers advice/opinions, so they can point out the things that i don't think of!!
 16.
As a fan of all things Warwick at the moment, i like the new Professional series basses (apart from the TM Stevens of course) and echoing my comments on another thread talking about the value people place on where the bass is made, if it played nicely, i'd buy one. Graeme
Yes that is a good point, my Spector is only a cheaper NS2000 model but it plays lovely. The word "upgrade" was probably a bit misleading in my original post as my USA P bass is the one most likely to make way for a new arrival. I know what you mean about TM's sig model bass, it's definitely an accquired taste! Although if it gave me some of TM's groove i'd be all over one!
 17. To be honest the only reason i even looked at the korean built basses is that second hand German Streamer LX4's in blue are not that easy to find. If the right german model comes up at the right time then thats's the way i would go, without doubt. Would be interested to see/hear how the Pro series stacks up against a Spector Euro 4 LX though, seeing as they're not that far apart on price.

 19.
Yeah, someone's selling a German $$ Corvette for £1000 on here and it's proper lush. Worth over £2k new!! Truckstop
If it's dc2009's old one you're talking about, then yes it is a beauty and the colour is perfect. Unfortunately it's not a Streamer, and besides i need to shift some gear before i do anything else!
 20. Hi guys, Anyone got any views on the Warwick Pro series basses? For as long as i can remember i've wanted an Ocean blue streamer and if i can shift some gear on then a pro series one could be within reach. However, in comparison to a german built one i keep looking upon it as a cheaper bass but at the end of the day it's still a £1,300 instrument so just wondered what the quality was like. I'm also curious how it would stack up next to a Spector Euro 4LX, which is what i'd sort of made my mind up would be a natural upgrade from my NS2000.
 21.
I'd consider this to be on the heavy side Comes in just over 15lb. Heavy or not, that is a great looking bass. My Spector weighs in at about 11lbs but it feels well balanced and comfortable to play which is much more important to me.
 22. If it's right for your situation then go for it! For what it's worth, i've taken my ashdown 8x10 to gig's on my own in a Ford Focus so transporting it isn't as difficult as you might think. You're always gonna get the "I've got a 1x10 markbass combo which i can fit in a rucksack and take it to gigs on my unicycle and it sounds a million times fatter/louder/better than any prehistoric 8x10" argument but it's all about personal choice. And the fact everyone is going lightweight means there's some great bargain big cabs out there.
 23.
And I'll be the second: +1.
And i'll be the third +1
 24.
I had 2 sets od D'addario ProSteel XL's that had issues with the E string, in the first set the E was dead straight out the packet, the second set was fine at first but the E died after one gig, the A,D and G were still bright but the E was completely shot. I just put it down to a blip in their QC but decided i'd drop them an email today anyway. Had a reply from George within an hour, gave him the serial no's from the bags and got 2 complimentary new sets on the way. Can't complain about that sort of customer service!
Update: 2 new sets of ProSteel's arrived this morning, thats less than 48 hours from when i sent the first email!! Also a nice personal note in the pack offering their sincere apologies. Other companies could certainly learn from this level of customer service!
