1. My new Barefaced Big Twin 2, and my RH450. Only used for a couple of rehearsals and gigs up to now, but liking it! Having said that I'm possibly gonna borrow a mates GK 1001RB-I I over xmas and see how it sounds through the BT2.
2. I imagine it would be ok, as I said mine was a 4u and all I had in it was a 2u head and a 1u tuner which was very shallow so there was quite a bit of space inside the rack. Having said that I've seen plenty of local players using 2u amp heads in 2u rack cases so I imagine it'd be fine. As for the chrome bars, going by the measurements the lids are 1.5" in depth so you should have no issue there.
3. It says total rackable depth 14.5", just measure your amp from front to back. I had the standard one which is about 16-17" and it used to house a Warwick Tubepath head, with the chrome grab bars on the front, easily.
4.
Got my ROQSOLID cover for my Big Twin 2. Perfect. Looks great in black with red piping, tough as old boots and fits like a glove. Money well spent!
Glad it fits ok, they used the measurements I sent them from mine! Phew!!
5. My personal faves: Led Zeppelin 2 Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell Van Halen 1
6.
Im enjoying playing `Accident Prone` by Snakecharmer and `In a Broken Dream` by Thunder at the minute, neither song id heard of till i had to learn them.
Rod Stewart's vocal on the original Python Lee Jackson version of In a broken dream is great.
7.
we have a winner....
Leper would be a step in the right direction!! :-D
8.
I own a Barefaced cab and a Rick......I feel like a leper.
You think you've got it bad, I own a Barefaced, a Warwick, and TC and Ashdown heads!!
9. http://bit.ly/1eG1aqB I used to use a sports bag but have just started using one of these that I had lying around from my days as a network engineer. You can get them from any CK tool distributor.
10. The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx had me wondering how on earth the guy is still alive!
11. You're welcome to come have a blast through it. I'm on nights until xmas now though, so Wednesdays are the only evening I'm about during the week (I'm not about this week though), which is when we rehearse. We start at 7 so if you could come over at 6 you can have it for an hour if that's any good?
12.
ern? where do you practice in Bristol, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that I should be getting something Barefaced?
I just use the back bar of a friends pub in Southmead. Where are you based?
13.
Full report required.
I'll do my best, I'm not normally very good at reviewing stuff, but I'll certainly report back after tomorrow's gig.
14. Just got back from walking the dog to find a delivery van outside my house, driver emerged with a large box, and lo and behold if had this little beauty inside!! Tomorrow's gig can't come soon enough now!
15.
It is probably more to do with the attitudes of the members of each band towards how the bands were run rather than the choice of material, but the covers band was prepared to coast along, while the originals band is actively doing stuff - playing chasing up gigs interacting with our fans on social media. I know which one is most fun for me.
+1 When I'm in covers bands all I actually want to do is gig, the rehearsing, gig chasing etc I could easily do without. I do it because we have to do it to get gigs, keep set list fresh and keep going. But when I'm in an originals band it all seems part of the fun, I WANT to go out promoting ourselves, rehearsing, chasing gigs etc.
16. I've been in quite a few originals bands, but I've I've always been been in a covers band at the same time. Im only in 2 cover bands now. I loved the thrill of performing something we created, but I've also always loved playing songs I grew up with. Building up a following with an original band takes time and work but is very rewarding, but I also love turning up at a pub/club on a saturday night, blasting through some cover songs I love and the crowd knows, watching people sing along, dance, spill beer everywhere and generally have a great time. It's a different kind of rewarding but enjoyable all the same.
17. What you should do now is order a nice Roqsolid cover for it, then they'll have the dimensions so I can order one for mine, ready for when it arrives!! :-D
18. The knob nearest the jack outputs is push/pull so you can run a pickup through each output or run both pickups through the top jack, so he may be running both pickups into one amp in the clip.
19. I've got a Big Twin 2 on order, and it can't get here soon enough!!
20. I've had the 411, 115, and 211 from this range and this is a great cab for such a small price. GLWTS.
21.
More of an ale guy tbh. Edit: bah, super 15 is at practice space now I've found a drummer so can't side my side.
Shame, would've been cool to compare them.
22.
Can you bring it round to my big pile of valve amps and see how it work out with them? Assume its easier to move than a big pile of valve amps. Got a video thing.
I'm happy for you to put it through its paces with your valve amps, as long as you're happy doing a set up on my Warwick in exchange for cider!!
23.
Serious GAS now. I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and start saving in earnest. http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/Big-Twin-2.htm Alex makes it very tempting indeed.
I made my mind up I wanted a lightweight cab and that after much browsing of their website a barefaced was the answer. I actually put a deposit on a S15 but after filling in the e-form and a few emails back and forth with Alex he sent me the spec for the Big Twin 2, bit the bullet and went for it. After reading people's views on it at the SE bash I'm so glad I did. Can't wait for it to arrive now. If you're ever in the Bristol area and fancy a blast let me know, I live about 2 mins from our rehearsal space which is always available and volume not an issue!! :-D
24. My Streamer LX is my "go to" bass. I tend to use it for everything now, whichever band I'm gigging or rehearsing with. It's lighter than my Spector and the slimmer neck just feels right and makes it a doddle to play.
