1. Thanks guys, I'm over the moon with it! Hope you've been enjoying a few cold ones Pete!
2.
Lurvely! 2 eq -
Thanks man!
3. Ok i've actually had it a couple of weeks now but have only just got the chance to photograph it and sit down to do this. I've had some 'Ray gas building for a while after spending a lot of time listening to old funk/soul/disco type stuff as our drummer and myself are talking of putting together a more function friendly band to keep us busier, This recently came up in a conversation on here about a USA Sub for sale at GAK (apologies again about the thread hijack on that one!). It was on eBay with a starting price of £600 but didn't get any bids, i was still undecided on getting one when the auction ended as i'd not long shelled out for a new Bongo. Anyway i was about to send the guy a message to ask if he had a price in mind when i get a notification saying it had been re-listed at £550. At this point the biggest snag was he lives in Chesterfield and wasn't prepared to ship it and i was hard pushed to find the time to travel from Bristol to collect it, so was starting to think "just forget it, i haven't got time to collect it" when in steps Stingray Pete saying he would be willing to collect it on my behalf and he travels to Bristol often! Game on! So after much PM'ing between Pete and myself i sat down on the morning it was ending and prepared myself for a bidding war, thinking it's bound to get some bids at only £550, it is after all a 2010 USA Stingray. Well i was wrong, £580 later and i've won it! I've only used it for one rehearsal so far and some neighbour friendly volume home practice but i already love it, it's far more versatile than a lot of folks give the 2eq 'Ray credit for. I love the Blue Pearl and maple combo, it just looks so cool. I've got a couple of gigs this weekend and a rehearsal on weds so should get more of a chance to give it a workout. Will it challenge my Bongo 4HS as my main player? Well i dont know about that just yet, but what i will say is i'm delighted with it, i love the way it sounds, looks, plays. I have to say a massive, massive thanks to Stingray Pete, not only did he make a trip to Chesterfield to collect it, he gave it a set up, cleaned it and planned a trip to Bristol to visit a friend and deliver it!! The spirit of this community is staggering at times, to think that someone would go to that length for someone who is essentially just a username on a forum whom they've never met! I really can't thank you enough Pete, the reality is, that without your intervention i wouldn't be sat here writing this as the deal simply would not have happened. Also thanks to Russ (EBSFreak) for the inside info on Pete's favourite tipple, and yes you were right, as soon as he saw the box he guessed i'd been in touch with you! MB1 Feedback

Just bought a Hipshot BT1 from Martin, great guy to deal with! Smooth transaction, great communication, item arrived super quick and well packaged (incl original fitting instruction) Deal with confidence folks!
5. Apologies to the OP for the complete thread hack! Pete, you are a bad bad man, it's even more tempting now!
6.
Looks like it could be pearl blue, its a fantastic colour in the flesh, the metallic flakes really pop out under the lights. I have a single ply matte black guard on mine & it looks ace.
My biggest issue is the fact it ends saturday and he lives in Chesterfield, I'm in Bristol and struggling to think of when I'd be likely to have the time to go pick it up. Thinking hat on!
7.
Lol, if it goes for £550 it will be the biggest ray bargain ever!
I am seriously tempted by it, I love that blue & maple combo. How long did they run the £1000 offer for Pete? Trying to figure out how old it is.
8.
There was a full on USA Stingray on ebay that did not sell for £600, it is back on for £550 start price, it is one of the ones they did with no case, 2 EQ, limited choice of finish etc for £1000 a while ago but even still no bids at £600! Crazy times
God damnit Pete, don't tell everyone!!!
9. Someone's got themselves a lovely bass there. The neck on my '09 LX has got a lovely slim profile.
10. Had a pretty good one at a local social club last night. We've played there lots of times but normally in the function room. Last night they wanted us in the main bar, as we'd agreed to time our sets around the boxing. The 'stage' is a long, narrow area which is deeper at one end, so we had to play in a line with drummer on the end as that's the only part deep enough for the kit, which felt really odd! Good crowd though, was a bit concerned some of the younger ones might get a bit too rowdy after the fight but all was fine, good atmosphere. Highlight for me the 60yr old bloke who shouted "f***ing brilliant" at the top of his voice after every number of the second set! Really starting to get used to the feel of the Bongo now too, and got a drunken compliment about it last night "ere mate, that black guitar is cool as f**k"!
11. They are fantastic basses. I usually have the pickup blend on my HS biased about 60/40 to the bridge, bass slightly cut, slight mid boost, amp flat and bang, tonal heaven. I know the looks really put some people off but to play they are superb, the pups and that 4 band eq make them very versatile. Been using mine through a RH750 and Big Twin 2, sounds great but am hopefully gonna do some gigs/rehearsals with a mates GK MB Fusion next month while he's away and I think that could be a epic combination! If funds permitted I'd be ordering one of the PDN Neptune blue/maple ones without hesitation, I'm sold on Bongo basses now!
12. I found it a little too busy. The problem for me is that Nathan East's original line sits perfectly within the song and yet is so simple, so when you hear it being overplayed it sounds fiddly. Having watched some of his other vids, this guy is a very good player and he's only goofing around so as long as he's enjoying himself, good for him.
13. Sansamp programmable BDDI? Gives you the ability to save 3 different tones in one pedal. Best overdrive tone I've ever used was from a Darkglass B3K. It wasn't mine, I borrowed it for a few rehearsals just to try one out. But I came to the conclusion that as I'd sold my sansamp as I wasn't really using it, there wasn't much point buying a B3K, but it was an awesome drive tone.
14. Signed. As a Bristolian, the Fleece is iconic, played there many times over the years. When I first started playing, the fleece and bierkeller were the two places all my young musician mates were desperate to play.
15.
Seen a fair few tributes, the best being Bjorn Again, The Jamm & The Likeness. To date, not seen a bad tribute band, which is nice.
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about The Jamm, saw them a few years back at The Fleece and they were very good.
16.
I saw an AC/DC tribute called AB/CD a few months back. They were quite good.
A good friend of mine was the 'Angus' in an AC/DC tribute band here in Bristol. They did some huge gigs all over Britain and Europe so there must be a good market for it. Best tribute act I've seen was an American 3 piece doing a Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute, if you closed your eyes you'd swear it was SRV himself, both his voice and his guitar playing/tone.
17. No no no no no, I don't want one, I don't want one, I don't want one, I don't want one! Oh bugger, it's not working and I really do want one!!
18.
Sorry. I couldn't help myself...
The poor OP must be wondering what the hell he's started! If only he knew the outcome of the thread would be so predictable! :-)
19. Ah, I didn't realise they were ltd ed. I just saw a few MM's in that finish on bass Central's website when I was searching. Must admit I'm tempted to see if they've got any cool finish Stingrays in stock when I head to the states later in the year!
20. Nige's suggestion in the last thread wins it for me: A twat of old bastards! Which would also make a great name for a blues band!
21.
Ay, and Promenade Music offer great new prices on them. The standard black ones and sapphire black are much more common in the UK, but thing like Sky Blue and Tangerine Pearl...well, there are barely any. One of the best pre-amps I've ever played...in fact one of the best bass designs I've ever played.
I was looking at Bass Central's website before I ordered mine, they had some amazing Tangerine pearl ones, I also like that Dargie's Delight green they do. About as far from my Stealth black as you could get but really cool colours!
22. I guess one option would be to buy a used one and have it refinished, at least that way all you're restricted by when searching, is the pup config. Trouble is with Bongo basses, as I found out, used ones don't seem to appear very often. As for the pricing debate, when I was searching for my 4HS Stealth, the cheapest I could find anywhere in the UK was approx £1600 and would have had to wait for it to be built. Other option was Thomann who had one in stock at £1650, I spent what felt like days trawling through MM's euro dealer websites, but eventually got one for £1100 incl delivery from Holland. Ordered tuesday at 3pm, on my doorstep by 8am thursday! So they can be got cheaper, it just takes a bit of searching.
